==History==

The Tal Ranoth are a an important clan of the kin'toni nation of Ashat, they are considered by many to be th brains of the whole operation of the nation. Most kin'toni have remarked that the kin'toni of the Ashat nation are truly pioneers of the kin'toni race for they have always led from the front, they are considered to be some of the most technologically advanced nation, furthermore, their polity is not only organised but is also predictable.

While, some kin'toni would claims that the city states like [[Turenth Lush River]] and kingdoms like Nara are a better polity, that may be the case in terms of the power that is available to the common citizen but it certainly isn’t the case in terms of quality of life or the power of the nation in the international sphere. This prowess of the Ashat nation and their Pioneer clans’ council is perhaps correctly credited to the ability and hard work of the Tal Ranoth clan.

They call the Neloren Canyon ravine their home, and administer some of the most important functions of the administration of the government of Ashat, primary among these duties is their responsibility of maintaining the annual and the decadal records of the nation in their caverns. It is surprising for those that knew the Tal Ranoth before they moved to the Canyon, as they were a relatively insignificant clan of kin'toni that was started by a kin'toni who had been a particularly successful as a zu'aan merchant in the Xerea Empire.

At the time of the conversion, the zu'aan merchant was converted by a kin'toni that later went on to become one of the main bloodlines of the Falang clan, which is one of the Pioneer clans’ and sits in their council as a central part of the ruling body. This relationship that the kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan have with the kin'toni of the Falang clan is certainly one that has been helpful to them, but it cannot be the only thing that has carried them to the heights of success they have now claimed.

Initially, the kin'toni that came to found the Tal Ranoth clan were recruited into the armies of the kin'toni nation, as all newly captured kin'toni are required to do, or rather were required to do during the times of the open wars with the zu'aan armies. The founders of the clan were able to carry out a few conversions and increased their number, but these conversions that the kin'toni won at the time was not truly due to any particular skill that the kin'toni themselves had but was rather due to the fact that the Tal Ranoth had luckily been given a place under the command of talented kin'toni military leaders.

The kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan came out of the war with more numbers than they had gone into it, but aside from that markedly common achievement, the Tal Ranoth had little to claim in terms of accomplishment. As such the were assigned the simple task of manning the Neloren Canyon ravines.

==Psychology==

The mental ability of the Tal Ranoth is truly one of their strong suites, for they are said to be just as able in mental capacity as the famed kin'toni of the Falang clan who had for a short period evolved to a computing ability that is even now thought to be impossible to replicate. The centuries of study that the Tal Ranoth clan have undergone has put to bed the fear that any kin'toni who spends too long wrapped up in books will find themselves turning into kin'toni that resemble the alien features that the Falang had begun to sprout.

However, it is certain now, that the degree to which a kin'toni is able to adapt to an external stimuli is different across bloodlines, and not all kin'toni are able to force their brains to expand as the Falang clan did once during their climb to the top. The Tal Ranoth are obviously extremely well read and capable scholars that are single handedly responsible for introducing the concept of scholars to the kin'toni world as well. Although, scholars were a common feature of the society in the times of zu'aan of the Xerea Empire, the occupation had been completely non-existent in the newly made world of the kin'toni.

Many of the kin'toni were prejudiced against the profession for it had been in an odd way responsible for the creation of the kin'toni, and at the same time it had created technologies that had brought the whole planet to nearly its end. For the longest time, zu'aan that were found out to be belonging to a scholarly occupation, they were immediately killed and were not even given the option of converting. In this environment, the Tal Ranoth were able to forcefully change the perception of people and commit to an operation that others would have considered suicidal, which was the establishment of the university.

The Tal Ranoth were not only fearless in their ambition but they are perhaps one of the most ingenious clan of kin'toni for they are able to respond to a changing situation with relative ease and resolve multiple issues with barely the blink of an eye. This resourcefulness in the clan members is further bolstered by their innovativeness, and these characteristics of the kin'toni have come together to craft a future for the kin'toni that is the cause of envy for many other kin'toni clans.

The most important step in their development to becoming the important clan that they are presently seen as, is in fact the founding of the paper milling process. If it were not for that discovery, it is certain that the Tal Ranoth would not have been able to begin their ascent into the top echelons of the kin'toni society of the Ashat nation. Prior to the paper milling process that the kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan founded, the Ashat nation had used parchments and leather, which were either incredibly fragile or ever so difficult to use well.

The Falang were in fact responsible for founding both of the processes.

==Biology==

The kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan are not gifted by any amazing abilities as many other kin'toni clans of the world have been gifted by nature, they are remarkably similar to the generic kin'toni soldier that can be found in any number of kin'toni nation armies. They are just as muscular as the soldier class of the Ashatan army, and this muscular size of the kin'toni is a surprising contrast to their chosen profession. When compared to the kin'toni of other nations that are linked with similar clerical work

The Tal Ranoth do certainly stick out for their continued ability to maintain muscular arms and torsos. The clans of the kingdom of Nara for instance, the political representatives of the various constituencies come from clans that have a political background, and when compared to the kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan, these kin'toni from the political clans are practically stick like. This retention of their muscular bodies is certainly due to the nature of the kin'toni home, and the kind of activities that the kin'toni take part in during their free time.

Whereas the kin'toni of the political clans spend their days in relative leisure and barely do anything more than attend their never ending meetings and conferences, the kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan spend hours at a time climbing the length of the ravines in order to access different sections of the ravine city that isn’t connected by means of inner caverns. Furthermore, the kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan are also hunters and excellent hunters at that, they spend many a days in the lush forests that are found at the foot of the ravines.

The river that runs through the ravine, makes it an ideal place for many a lis forms, and the Tal Ranoth hunt anything that moves. They are most certainly the ultimate masters of the lands that have been given under their care. The kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan are kept fit and muscular due to regularity of the physical exercise, even though their chosen role in society requires them to spend long hours hunched over books and records to plan out strategies.

The kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan have developed a fiercely keen eye, but not one that is exactly like the vision of a Daera, and this keen eyesight is said to be a result of the long hours of study that kin'toni have committed to for themselves. The difference in vision between the Daera and the Tal Ranoth kin'toni clan, is a feature of kin'toni development that the Tal Ranoth themselves have been studying. There are strange parallels in their ability and its development, for instance the kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan are not able to develop the keen eye just like the Daera.

And again just like the Daera the kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan reside at an incredible height, and in habitations that are generally devoid of light, like the caverns of the ravine and the caverns of the Mal Jade Cliffs which is where the Daera reside. They have light green irises with black sclerae and a vertical slit pupil

==Culture==

The Tal Ranoth have a very rich culture, and this an aspect of their civilisation that they are particularly concerned with as well, the kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan believe that the secret to a greater development for the kin'toni of the Ashat nation is to focus on the cultural development of the people. They are in fact known to remark often about how other kin'toni nations are doing too little to preserve the culture that they are developing. The Itkali for instance, is a group that the kin'toni of Tal Ranoth clan have studied in great detail.

And according to their assessment the future of the Itkali people is very bleak, they have been one of the biggest supporters for a military invasion of Itkali territory in order to unseat their ruler. The primary problem the kin'toni have with the Itkali is the nature of their historical records and the power that has been over the past few centuries been concentrated into the hands of the priest clan of Yuaa. The Tal Ranoth remark that the common kin'toni of the Itkali kingdom are incredibly unfortunate and suffering a terrible fate without even being aware of what exactly is being done to them.

The ruling class of the Itkali kingdom has taken away the ability of the common citizen to read and write, and thereby made them dependent on the administration for the keeping of even menial records. This kind of dependence in itself is not detrimental as such if the administration itself had been honest or rather concerned with leading the people morally. Instead the kin'toni of the Itkali ruling clan have used and exploited their peoples unable to read and write, and peddled ridiculous lies about their history, identity and their enemies.

The overpowered priest clan inflicts upon the common kin'toni many a tragedy every day, and the kin'toni of Itkal continue to submit to them for they believe the twisted lie that the kin'toni of the Yuua clan have in some way been selected by a divine entity. The fate of the Itkali people is something that the Tal Ranoth seem to be greatly concerned with, and in order to ensure that none of their practices ever cross the borders and influence the policies of the central or the provincial governments of Ashat, the Tal Ranoth kin'toni regularly conduct campaigns.

These campaigns are aimed at both the ruling class as well as the common citizens, and are meant to communicate a core tenet of the Ashatan way of life. Most recently, the kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan have conducted a particularly successful campaign that dealt with the literacy of the common kin'toni, wherein they were trying to ensure that at least nine out of every ten kin'toni in the nation of Ashat are able to read and write. The Tal Ranoth do not directly administer these campaigns given their duty as the provincial leaders of the Neloren Canyon ravine but they are the financial authority involved and also chart out the method of operation for the camping in question.

==Government==

The kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan are an important part of the governance of the whole Ashatan empire, and they are able to do so not only in their official capacity but also in their roles as an activist clan. The Tal Ranoth clan, were handed the administration of the whole province of the [[Neloren Canyon Ravine|Neloren Canyon Ravin]] when the proposal for the construction and establishment of the Ashatan university was approved. As the university grew and the Tal Ranoth themselves began to better understand the world around them.

They were given the responsibility of being the account keepers of the whole nation, both the annual as well as the decadal records, while the records that cover only the important features of the century are kept in the Jau Jungle Hills, at the capital, where they are stored directly by the kin'toni of the pioneer clans in the Greenwood paper that also happens to be milled in the canyon ravines. Most recently, the clan was promoted to an advisor position to the pioneer clans’ council, which is an honour beyond anything that has ever been extended to any other kin'toni clan in the history of the Ashat nation.

The promotion to the advisor role also resulted in the kin'toni taking up the role of activists, and in this way they have been able to influence the political landscape in three ways and as such they are an important power in the Ashat nation. Their prominence as politically active kin'toni certainly began with the development of their unique milling process that first birthed the paper that now oils the cogs of the political machinery of the Ashat nation. The Tal Ranoth kin'toni clan had only been posted to the Neloren canyon ravine due to their blood relation to the Falang clan.

As the canyon had served as an important staging platform with appropriate accommodation for thousands of kin'toni soldiers. However, as the war front shifted and the Xerea Empire was defeated, the occupying forces were moved and the Tal Ranoth clan had only been sent to the region to be an intermediary holder of the land before an appropriately powerful clan was sent to the ravine for the setting up of a city. The Tal Ranoth clan changed its destiny by giving into their innate curious nature as they interacted with their surroundings.

And were able to create a paper that far outshone the poor excuses for writing material that the kin'toni of the council had been using. The Tal Ranoth must be credited with not only discovering the right process for the creation of the paper but also for recognising the right way to present their finding. For they did not simply pass their prototype paper up the chain of command, instead they spent nearly a whole year experimenting with the paper and came with all of its application and its appropriate uses.

They finally used their political connection to set up a private meeting with a kin'toni of the Falang clan, who was undoubtedly blown away by the efficacy of the paper.

==Military==

The Tal Ranoth have a very warm relationship with the armed forces of the Ashat nation, and this is predominantly due to the structure of the army, which is an incredibly efficient unit of the government of Ashat. Progress in the ranks of the Ashatan army is up to a great deal determined by the ability of a kin'toni to lead, and there really aren’t any shortcuts to gaining power in the army. The Llyth clan is appropriately skilled, and they have made the transition from being an only warrior clan to a political clan.

And due to the burden of their responsibilities, they aren’t as readily available as the armies of the Ashatan army require. The army officers require direction and education in order to be able to lead their kin'toni cohorts in the best manner possible, in addition to the limited learning opportunities with a skilled warrior class like the Llyth, the soldiers are also faced with an ever demanding roster of duties, the Ashat nation is committed to wars on multiple fronts with not only the Itkali kingdom but also the kingdom of Adon.

As such, the skilled officers can never be supplied to the training of the newly raised officers or fresh troops, but instead must be posted in the field where their expertise could save several lives. The problem of training the officers was particularly concerning for the marital council or rather the Junta of the Ashat nation, and the Tal Ranoth clan was brought in to consult with the kin'toni of the Junta in order to come up with a possible solution that would allow the army to continue their advance without halting their armies.

This was in order to free up enough soldiers for the training of the newly promoted officers and other army units. The Tal Ranoth clan proposed the founding of a martial department under the Ashatan university, that would then serve as the training ground for potential army officers and any other civilians that wished to learn the arts of warfare. The proposal was well liked, but presented a similar problem, the kin'toni that taught at the university were not warriors and they had no idea what it meant to lead and teach warriors.

The resolution for this hurdle was forged with the help of the Fa’aka kin'toni clan of the Adon Kingdom, the Fa’aka are warriors of mythical repute that have led kin'toni warriors for as long as kin'toni armies have existed, and who happen to offer education to all interested kin'toni in the arts of war. The Tal Ranoth proposed sending a contingent of warriors to the Fa’aka military college located in the Swaynis highlands and have them form the faculty of the university that would then be responsible for teaching the kin'toni that would be promoted to the ranks of officers in the army.

The Junta disagreed, they believed that it should be teachers that should be sent to the Fa’aka and not soldiers, for it may not be possible to have a warrior become a teacher, but a teacher can certainly become a warrior, and so a third of the Tal Ranoth clan were sent to the military college.

==Religion==

The Tal Ranoth have struggled with the religious beliefs they hold, but this is a relatively recent development, and has led to the development of friction between the Llyth and the Tal Ranoth clan. The Tal Ranoth do not believe in the existence of a high power, an although not openly, the kin'toni of the Tal Ranoth clan generally do not believe in the religion of the Eyeless god. It must be understood that unlike the Itkali, who follow the Shepherd’s way, the Ashatan people do not have a national religion.

Although a great majority of the kin'toni that live in the nation of Ashat believe in the religion of the eyeless god, there are perhaps just as many kin'toni that believe in a separate religion like the Galaka from the Tamor Drylands pray to the winds that run through their harsh landscape. Pointedly, the kin'toni of the pioneer clans’ council did not enforce the adoption of a national religion, and although there is little to prove why it occurred, it is commonly felt that it was because the Ashat nation did not wish to allow their struggle with the Itakli to be one that was misrepresented as some sort of religious crusade.

In the past histories of the zu'aan, the kin'toni have noted that the most brutal and long winded battles have been those that are motivated by religious reasons rather than land or wealth. The Tal Ranoth on the other hand are kin'toni that believe in something that they have taken to referring to as ‘natural science’ and it is the proposition that the world is actually governed by forces that behave as per a certain set of rules, and that it isn’t possible for the world to behave in any way that contravenes the laws of nature, as they refer to them.

Their views in themselves are not the problem, or the cause for the unrest with the Llyth clan but rather the inclusion of the teaching of Natural science as a part of all the courses that are taught at the Ashatan university. The Llyth clan has been increasingly vocal in their opposition of the teaching ‘Natural science’ for many of the lessons that are taught in one way or another end up contradicting the teachings of the temple of the Eyeless god. In this way, the classes that are being taught by the Tal Ranoth are meant to lead the people of the nation away from the embrace of the Eyeless god.

The Tal Ranoth have responded to all criticisms with a clear and concise stand, they have clearly established that none of the classes that are conducted for the purpose of the natural science ever make mention of the Eyeless god but only effectively teach principles. When the council was approached with the problem by the Llyth, they sided with the Tal Ranoth instead of members their own council as they felt that the kin'toni of the Ashat nation should not be beholden to any one particular faith and should instead be able to choose how to lead their lives.

==Miscellany==

The Tal Ranoth clan has been an important and powerful cultural force for the whole of the Ashat nation, the people of the Tal Ranoth clan are the only kin'toni in the world to have discovered the process for milling paper. That fact alone has meant that the kin'toni nation of Ashat has benefitted significantly and has been able to advance further then any of the kin'toni nations that are present at the current time. These other nations are still reliant on old materials that are not only very difficult to use.

But some of these require replenishing as the pigments that are used to write on them begin to fade after a certain amount of time. In Ashat, on the other hand, there is enough paper for every household to own one, unlike in other nations where paper is an item that is used only by the officials and the powerful kin'toni of society. Here in Ashat all kin'toni are able to send missives long distances, create official documents that are approved by their provisional government heads, and send communications to loved ones.

Besides, the impact of their invention, the Tal Ranoth clan has also been particularly influential due to the success of the university that they founded within the caverns of Neloren, and although the university is funded by the money of the pioneer clans’ council, ultimately the Tal Ranoth are responsible for it. The university has come in handy for it has allowed kin'toni from all across the nation to come and study with the most skilled teachers, in this way the capabilities of the common citizens are greatly increased.

An education at the university is mostly free of charge, as admissions are conducted by the consent of the government, who has allocated the decision to the provincial governments. In the past, some of the more corrupt kin'toni clan heads had begun to missues their powers of being able to select the students that would get the opportunity to study at the university in return for riches. The disgraceful act was found out by the pioneer clans’ council, who had then ordered the seizure of all the possessions of the clan, and the execution of a third of the clans strength.

The harsh action had raised many an eyebrows across the kingdom, for all kin'toni are aware that the Ashatans believe in the sacredness of the blood of the kin'toni, and believe that the only right place for it is in the battlefield. In order to ensure that everyone understood the reason for the execution of the kin'toni of the offending clan, the council also released a letter to the public that has been widely circulated, and was actually penned with the help of the Tal Ranoth clan.

The letter claims that the kin'toni that had chosen to place the interests of themselves before that of the nation were the worst kind of traitors. The letter labels them as barely kin'toni, for not only did they deny the gifted the right to attend the university but instead weighed against their own greed, such deplorable actions must have been swiftly and mercilessly punished.
