==Geography==

Although the meadow forest is an evergreen region and has several species of trees and other plants, it is still very sparsely populated with vegetation, and this is thought to be due to the poor quality of soil that grows in the region. Its general geography is very similar to the steppes, but neither is the meadow fertile enough to allow cultivation of grain crops and nor is it large enough to allow for the ranching of animals like the blood stock that is also raised on the steppes.

In the end, after numerous attempts to try and cultivate crops on the meadow, the leadership of Zelan decided to try and divert the land to try and utilise it for other purposes. The rain in the region is not too heavy but the summers are harsh, and so Zelan decided to use the land for habitation purposes, and so began constructing shelters here and making walkways by connecting the tree cover with artificial covers. The residential area bloomed and soon the famous textiles of the Zelan weavers brought in traders from all across Canlai.

And as the news about the wonderful fabrics spread across the world, people began to travel from far way lands in order to buy the fabric. The weather in the region is also ideal for the purpose it has been ascribed, the region does not experience any difficult weather conditions and so shops can be set up without fear of having wares destroyed by either a deluge of rainfall or harsh winds. The rain that does come, is always sporadic and well distributed, with the advent of the covers between trees almost none of the shops built in the bazar are directly exposed to the elements.

The heat is harsh during summer but only during the day so kin'toni are able to come out at night and feel little effect of the day’s sun, and it can become quite crowded at night. The bazar is a sight to behold when the selling has begun in earnest and the shoppers are at full swing, and noting the beauty of the bazar, the local administration has set up viewing decks across the hills that line the meadow and nestle the bazar, although it is difficult to reach these vantage point establishments where par hog’s blood and alcohol are found in equal measure.

For the more wealthy kin'toni, the sight of the dancing lights of the bazar under the influence of intoxicants is a popular activity, on particularly dark nights such as the night of the new moon, a trial of rickshaws pulled by the kin'toni valets can be seen to make their way to the various hills, carrying with them the wealthy kin'toni of the Zelan and Nara nations. The bazar although distinctly belonging to Zelan allows the Nara kin'toni traders to bring their wares and though they are taxed much more heavily they are not exposed to tariffs that are applied to the kin'toni that come from off the Canlai Landmass.

==Plants==

The meadows are named after the rean-lakxa grass that grows on these plains, and though there are plenty of trees in the meadows, the main plant population is derived of the rean-lakxa grass. This grass and the animals named rean-lakxa that the Oola ride into battle are related, it is however unknown whether the grass was named for the animal or the animal for the grass. And although the animal no longer survives on this landmass the name continue to apply, for the grass in comparison to other species of grass is gigantic.

If not cut at regular intervals, the rean-lakxa grass can easily exceed the height of 10 feet, thereby hiding even the tallest of the kin'toni within the grasses. Not only is the grass extremely large in size but it is able to reach this stage of its growth extremely quickly and in order prevent the bazar from being overrun with the grass, a large battalion of kin'toni can be seen mowing the fields of the shops in the early hours of the night. There was an attempt by the administrators of the bazar to find a more permanent solution to the problem,

And the authorities tried to set the fields with the shops on fire to burn away the grass, and though it took fire easily enough, the fire was very short lived and did not travel the whole field on its own in fact in order to ensure a sizeable portion the field was burnt, fires had to be placed in multiple places at the same time. This did have the desired effect of stopping the relentless growth of the grass for a few short weeks, but within the month, the rean-lakxa grass had sprouted anew.

The kin'toni believe this was because the fire was unable to reach the part of the grass that remained in the ground and continued to survive despite being burnt. This ability of the rean-lakxa grass to survive seems to be a naturally gained adaptation for it allows the grass to survive in a region with as much heat as the meadows. Added to this resistance to being burnt off the field, the hardy nature of the rean-lakxa grass is also due to its extensive root system and little need of moisture.

Most of the time the grass is dry, strawy and yellow, and only ever takes a green sheen when the season rains arrives, otherwise it is hard, coarse and dry. This texture and lack of moisture is the reason why the grass can catch fire so quickly but since the grass grows to such large heights, once burning is begun the amount of ash that is produced chokes the fires and prevents it from taking in any more oxygen and this is why fire must be repeatedly set.

In fact the texture of the grasses is so harsh and un peasant that running through the rean-lakxa grass unprotected and shielded can sever cuts and scraps that bleed fiercely even for kin'toni.

==Animals==

The most notable animals in the region used to be the rean-lakxa, similar to the species of the animals that the Adon infantry of the Oola kin'toni clan rides into battle, and just as blood thirsty as those animals. The rean-lakxas are particularly nasty breed of animals that ruled over the meadows before the establishment of the bazar, initially there was an attempt by the kin'toni clans of the region to domesticate the animals following the examples of the Oola kin'toni clan, but the attempts were disastrous even among the most disciplined animals.

For some unknown reason, the kin'toni merchant clans of Zelan have been unable to make the animals into beasts of reason or any loyalty, nothing worked in keeping the population of these animals at a manageable level. They tried to beat the animals into submission but the animal did not seem to have a breaking point, instead of cowering down after multiple beatings the animal only became more difficult to manage seeming to care little for its own life but the death of the kin'toni that were trying to break its will.

The records indicate that barely a handful of the kin'toni survived from the near hundred that had been set the mission of taming the rean-lakxas. What was more surprising was not that the kin'toni that beat their charges were killed by them but even those that tried to adopt friendlier approach with the animals met a similar fate. Those who have studied the rean-lakxas of the Oola have concluded that the animals do display affection and loyalty to their riders and have been known to even defend them in the course of battles, but the animals in the meadow forest displayed not a shred of any such emotion.

Even those animals that had been raised from birth by the kin'toni themselves inevitably developed aggressive behaviour to the point of hate towards their caretakers, and it is theorised that the problem lay not in the animals or even the kin'toni that engaged them but in how the animals were used. Canlai is a relatively calm landmass, there is no dearth of war anywhere on Taerel but in Canlai this wave of violence has somewhat subsided, as such the Zelan kin'toni clans did not have anywhere to engage the rean-lakxas in war.

Which may have meant that the innate thirst for violence that is found in the animals was never really satisfied and was expressed against those that were closest to them. And so, due to the massive casualties to the body that had been tasked with domesticating the rean-lakxas, the mission was withdrawn and a new decisions made regarding the future of the rean-lakxas. They were to be put to the death, every single one of the animals found in the region was to be killed, and no survivors allowed,

For the damage to the business of the bazar was significant in their presence, this move above all else was condemned by many kin'toni nations for it was distinctly a zu'aan action.
