==History==

The Polgaru clan has always lived on the plateau, even when they were zu'aan, so they had already adapted to the desert environment. In order to stay hidden once they turned into kin'toni, they made their homes underground and established tunnels to connect to the main meeting areas. Above ground, there was a large marketplace that seemed to be deserted but was inhabited only when the scent of zu'aan entered the area. The marketplace was the largest remaining structure that the Polgaru zu'aan clan had been there. Hunting came easy to the Polgaru clan as it was a major hub for brave travelling merchants that would cross the plateau to reach other destinations.

Some of the old buildings within the aboveground marketplace served as inns and pubs, truly acting like a zu'aan city. Since the Polgaru had sprung up from the desert, their complexion looked as though they were still zu'aan themselves. This allowed them to gain the trust of actual zu'aan and hunt on their own. Due to their close proximity to zu'aan cities and other tribes of kin'toni, the land that the Polgaru occupied were considered high in value, which is why the Undal clan sends attacks on them.

Their region that they control is so large that one wouldn't think that a kin'toni clan would have the numbers to occupy every house but the underground lifestyle housed more kin'toni than what they originally had because of the [[Tonkel Kin'toni Clan]]. The leader of the Polgaru's, Ga'eal, was a businessman and knew of the power the Tonkel's possessed so of course, he wanted to secure an alliance with them in order to gain more protection for his land. With more protection on every entrance and areas that usually do not have anyone near them, the less of a surprise it will be when fighting off the Undal clan.

The Polgaru clan was known for their camouflage, the way they could blend in with normal zu'aan intrigued many other kin'toni clans that witnessed some members pass through, thus creating many other alliances with the surrounding areas. Trade routes established through many different regions, the Polgaru would draw in zu'aan to other areas in order to gain some sort of export to sell at their marketplace in order to keep drawing the attention of zu'aan. Ga'eal was cunning and smart in that way. He knew that he could fool any zu'aan that came wandering into the village.

All the kin'toni had to do was act like a zu'aan in order to gain fresh food for the night. Ga'eal was the leader before the plague hit, and even then his clan followed him without hesitation as they knew he would lead them all to great things. Once the plague hit, however, he decimated all of the elders within the clan so no one would take his spot or convince him to step down. He cared too much for the elders and it was in his best intentions that they were no longer around to advise him.

==Psychology==

Even though the entire clan was kin'toni, they program their brains to think and act like a zu'aan in order to catch their prey. They believe that since they look 'normal' the zu'aan will not be afriad and come willingly into their territory, making themselves easy prey. This mindset has been implemented ever since the start of the plague and surprisingly, it's worked. It's worked so well that some zu'aan have actually moved in, allowing themselves to be prey for the kin'toni every night. Stealing blood from sleeping lifeforms has never been a problem for the kin'toni.

So it didn't come as a surprise when Ga'eal had said that the main lifeblood of the clan was to take the blood of the residents who had moved in. The seemingly 'normal' city drew in lots of tourists regardless of what plague was out there as the Polgaru's were just like them. The only time they didn't seem normal was when there were unprecedented attacks at the perimeter of the city. The Polgaru kin'toni made it their mission to protect their city and their precious food supply, not allowing the battle to get into the city as the Tonkel tribe helped with any attack that erupted from no where.

The Tonkel warriors were kept hidden from the inner city but they also knew that in order to keep the secret of the polgaru clan, they need to stay out of sight from zu'aan until nightfall. Once night hits, they're free to have as much zu'aan blood as they desire, courtesy of the Polgaru military. The Tonkel was treated with respect and they even made friends with the Polgaru, something which normally isn't supposed to happen between two tribes. Ga'eal had quite a lot of psychological changes done to him once the plague hit. He decided that the elders would be killed off.

Knowing that if they continue to live, they would only get in the way and not allow trade to happen even in their new state. He allowed children, of course, mainly to keep up the act that the city was still a zu'aan city. He ensured that every child had properly been trained to control their thirst and knew how to act before allowing them back into the city. He believed that the children would encourage more zu'aan to bring their own kids as the Polgaru's seemed like it was a safe haven for families. Of course, it drew the most attention when families would go missing .

But the Polgaru's would target the families first so the children would not get too curious and wander into the underground tunnels. Thanks to the trade routes from other clans, the Polgaru clan is able to keep the facade of being the perfect and protected zu'aan city from the abundance of zu'aan food. Trade with the Ninal kin'toni clan gave them fresh water from the Tayk Springs and trade with the Ropol kin'toni clan allowed fresh crops and food to come in from the Wayra Boreal Strublands.

==Biology==

Since the plague, the initial phase of the Polgaru kin'toni ended up with their skin color a sandy brown color but as the years went on, it turned into a darker skin tone, as if the sun had something to do with it. The tones had created the appearance of a zu'aan and merchants would first travel into the city and not be afriad, something that the Polgaru thrived on. Their eyes were all a bright green, a specific symbol that let zu'aan and kin'toni alike know that they are Polgaru. The green eyes had carried over from when they were zu'aan but it was a lighter green once the plague settled within their bodies.

They did not possess any power within their eyes but it attracted those who are vulnerable to gaze into them, allowing themselves to be sucked away by the beauty. The Polgaru had a specific trait that only appeared when the plague took over their bodies. Their hands could stretch and break into claws that had the power of ripping flesh and bone to shreds. Their feet could also become weapons, yet they only used their feet when battling with the Undal clan. They were successful fighters with the mutations that they would forcefully perform onto themselves, wining many battles with the help of the Tonkel.

The Polgaru could withstand any heat as during the summer, it would reach very high temperatures and their bodies could withstand the sun. The zu'aan who lived in the city, however, could not and their bodies would give out due to heat exhaustion, never being able to wake up again after being taken to the 'hospital'. If any zu'aan wished to see their loved one, they were given a jar of ash, saying that their body was ready for them to be taken home. Of course, the ash was from wood and the body was actually being stored in the underground tunnel to either be prepared for transport or cleaned for the nightly feasts that the Polgaru had.

The Polgaru also had incredible willpower to stay away from zu'aan blood during the day and only feast at night. It still astonishes most of the clan that they could go that long looking at their prey, interacting with them on a daily basis and still devour their blood every night. Ga'eal would say that his clan members were the only kin'toni that could contain themselves as well as they do and that they should be proud. The kin'toni children had another mutation that the adults didn't seem to have, which was that they developed a scent that the zu'aan loved to follow.

Each child was different but each had a scent that drew in the helpless zu'aan and allowed themselves to be entranced as they were lead down the tunnels to their death. The children were trained to only seek out those who were alone and who looked as if they did not have anyone that would miss them once they were gone. Being the innocent children that they appear to be, they draw their victims by studying them in the marketplace and allowing themselves to be near enough for the zu'aan to get a whiff of the scent. They would then ask for help and lead them further away from the marketplace and down one of the tunnels.

From there, a Tonkel warrior would use their weapons skill to kill the zu'aan and store them with the rest of the bodies within strongholds.

==Culture==

Trade was everything to the Polgaru clan. Trade with the Tonkel allowed them stronger protection, trade with the Ropol allowed them zu'aan food, and trade with the Ninal allowed them fresh water from the springs. Each trade route benefits the Polgaru to some extent and they thrive on the assets that they have. The Polgaru are very proud of the way they are because of what they have pulled off. They provide a week's worth of food supply to 3 different kin'toni clans and still have enough food for themselves. They do take pride in how much money they have but it really has no worth to them as they really care about how many zu'aan they convince to stay in the city.

They rely on the barter system when it comes to trade and other kin'toni clans. The money that they do earn from the zu'aan however, goes to Ga'eal who then uses it to make the city better. He allows the buildings to be upgraded and fixed for more zu'aan residents within his city. The elders were once sacred and holy members of the clan but once the plague took over, their morals were no longer fit for Ga'eals standards, thus ending up creating initial fights. Once Ga'eal decided that he was going to put an end to their nonsense, he called an elder meeting and lit them up in flames, burning them alive in a sealed cave.

He took pride that he was now the sole leader of his clan and allowed himself to speak his mind to his subjects and was grateful that they all shared his thoughts as well. The original zu'aan clan had taken to the marketplace and made it their lifeblood, always giving and trading, allowing the visiting zu'aan to buy whatever they would like. The polgaru people were originally kind-hearted zu'aan and still wanted to keep up that appearance when working the stalls in the marketplace. Some kin'toni continues to handmake things and sell them as if the plague never even happened.

The marketplace was known for making aspiring inventors famous and allowing others to try what has never been tried before. Every kin'toni within the clan is different but each has a role to play in making the zu'aan believe that they are all still not affected by the plague. From merchants that travel to other parts of the new world to the innkeepers that promise safety to zu'aan travelers. The other clans that have established trades mainly see the Polgaru clan as a food export, never really knowing how they gather the food in the first place and they know better than to ask.

War for the plateau has been ever-present even before the plague with the Undal clan as the Undal has always had its eyes set on anything and everything. Being the ruthless clan that they are, they initially started attacking during the day, where kin'toni are believed to be the most vulnerable. In the beginning, sure, the Polgaru were fighting a losing battle until they met the Tonkel clan by chance one fateful night and arranged a helpful trade for both parties.

==Government==

The government is set up like a capitalist clan for the sake of impressing zu'aan to make them come back but in reality, it has no form. It has one leader that cares deeply for his subjects and is on good terms with many other clan leaders. The kin'toni in the clan have always trusted their leader and no one dared to disrespect him after he decided that the elders were no longer of use to him. With the help of the Tonkel members and leader, the Polgaru gained military numbers and power. Money has very little value to the Polgaru but if it were big on money, the entire clan would be the richest in the area.

As it gets the most tourism from zu'aan, the money that they use would be exchanged for goods that would be sold in the marketplace. The leader, Ga'ean, in turn, would fix up the city to make it seem like the money was going to good use. To the zu'aan who were living within the city, they enjoyed life as they were protected night and day from kin'toni. They didn't think that the city was already struck and riddled with plague as every 'zu'aan' in their eyes seemed completely normal, as if the plague never even happened. Though every morning they seemed to be more tired than usual.

Maybe even weak at times, but it seemed to always get blamed on the sun as they were still getting used to living in the desert climate. The leader of the clan made the village very welcoming and inviting to visitors along with the trading clans. Though the kin'toni clans always used the underground tunnels in order to go through with their trades as to not be seen by the public eye or be scorched by the sun. The government was obviously two-sided within the kin'toni eyes but that was to be expected if they wanted to keep the food believing they were in a safe place.

The most important aspect to the government is providing for its people. In the Polgaru government, the most important thing to them was keeping their kin'toni happy and well provided for. The need for constant food coming into the village is a must, travelling promoters would go to journey the distant lands to find zu'aan camps or cities in order to spread the news about the large safe haven out on the plateau. It promoted not only the fact that there was a place where zu'aan could live but also a place that wasn't affected by the plague at all.

The government also used the money from the zu'aan in order to build other things within the city for enjoyment. The kin'toni of the Polgaru clan are the biggest con artists in all of Tareal...and they loved it. They thrived on tricking their prey and got away with it. As far as Ga'ean knew, his business with other kin'toni clans was the first of it's kind as kin'toni naturally hate other kin'toni. Of course, that was true but he was able to fight the instinct in order to prove that he was the best leader with the best clan.

==Military==

The Polgaru military patrols the perimeter of the city along with the underground tunnels with the Tonkel warriors. Though there was the initial isolation from the other clan, the soldiers eventually started to get along, something that surprised both parties. The Tonkel warriors are skilled with weapons where the Polgaru warriors are skilled in hand to hand combat with their claws. The combination of the two came in handy once the Undal clan decided to place an attack on the Polgaru tribe. The military was mighty in strength and the Tonkel were admired for their speed and prowess in their choices of weapons.

The Polgaru and Tonkel would feed every night and sometimes have feasts underground instead of hunting aboveground. There, they told stories about what they wanted to see or what their lives were like before the plague. The Polgaru found that the warriors that the Tonkel clan sent them were a mere fraction of what the so called 'original' kin'toni of the clan could do. As impressive as they were, they wouldn't change the way things were now. It's obvious that the Tonkel warriors are part of the Polgaru ranks, their skill putting them at the very top of their military because of their outside skills and prowess in other areas.

Other than this, there are no official ranks within the military other than the leader. Ga'ean is a tall kin'toni who developed a particular mutation when the plague hit. Like his clan, he can shift his fingers to claws but he developed retractable bones from being so tall. He can extend his forearms out of his hands, almost like an extra-long claw. He uses the long bone in combat when the enemy is just out of reach. Because of this, he was deemed the most powerful Polgaru within the clan. He was obviously already their leader so there was no question that he was to stay in power.

Upon meeting the Tonkel leader, he was taken aback that someone could overpower him in an instant. He was grateful that the Tonkel wanted to trade as if they decided to attack with the Undel clan, the Polgaru would surely fall. Battle with the Undal clan was quick as the Tonkel could take many at once and still go on to help the Polgaru. From what warriors say, the Tonkel appear to be stronger and faster than the savage Undal clan. The fact that a kin'toni so powerful was helping them made the warriors and regular kin'toni grateful that they were in good relations with one another to allow the alliance to form.

Even if some did not consider the agreement between the two clans an alliance, they surely appreciated the protection. The military was primarily men as zu'aan would not expect women to be in the military but they did have some children help with the gathering of zu'aan for trade deals. The children would lure the zu'aan down one of the tunnels to a seemingly stuck friend who, once free, lunges and kills the zu'aan for further transportation. The children were happy to do it, especially if they were able to get a small drink for their efforts.

==Religion==

When they were still zu'aan, the elders preached and ranted about the life god, Flu'ere. They claimed that he gave them life and allowed them to survive in the harsh desert environments. The god was responsible for the rains for their crops and their drinking water. The god also gave them everything they could ever want and grow within their small village. It was truly a blessed life as long as the clan worshipped Flu'ere on a twice daily basis, once in the morning and once at night. When the plague came, they prayed but they were ignored as they were now no longer physically living.

This in turn, angered the clan and they turned their anger toward the elders, who were still preaching to trust Flu'ere as there will soon be a cure and they could live their zu'aan lives again. Ga'ean was the most furious, getting overwhelmed in his new kin'toni state, he destroyed the elders and was met with a diety, claiming to be the ghost of Flu'ere. The life god was destroyed with the plague and was replaced with its shadow. The being then stated that there was nothing it could do to protect its favorite clan anymore as it possessed a power that wasn't for the physical world anymore.

In turn, Ga'ean was told that he could possess the power to call upon the ghost of the life god whenever he needed to be advised. This turned Ga'ean into a kin'toni priest along with him being the strong leader of his clan. Since then, the ghost would always be near the leader, observing the happenings of the world through him. The clan then turned to worship their leader, who refused to be treated as a diety as it would add to his ego too much. The clan reluctantly agreed but still would stop by to give offerings for their leader in hopes that there really could be a cure one day.

Some of the kin'toni would ask about Flu'ere and if they were still watching over them the best he could, to which the leader always answered a definite yes. Some others couldn't believe that the god who had taken care of them for eons would pass with a plague and decided to turn their backs on the thought of a cure as if there was one, it would also resurrect the dead diety and everything would change again. The Tonkel on the other hand, still felt the protection of their shadow god even when they have permanently moved to the plateau from the forest of their original clan.

They found it a bit sad that their god had seemed to abandon them but believed wholeheartedly that the life god was truly speaking through their leader. Night talks within the military lead to speculation about what would happen if there would ever be a cure and if they would take it or not. Of course, it was purely speculation but many of the Polgaru missed the way things used to be and the Tonkel reminisced on their nomadic days, traveling with the herds of animals in order to sustain a viable food source.
