==Geography==

The Pel'sun Bayou was surrounded by the Myrithal Swamp in the north and the Miarma Prairie to the north-east. Geographically, it was an extension of the Myrithal Swamp that was drained by the Miarmat river and her tributaries, many of which flow into the Pel'sun- creating a deep, blue lake in the center and flooding the rest of the region into a swamp. The waters here were deeper than the Myrithal and the swamps displayed a greater abundance of woods and greenery. These swamps were waist deep in most parts and were less murky than the ones in the Myrithal. They were covered in a variety of underwater weeds and plants along with tall groves of trees that lined almost every part of the swamp.

The easy availability of wood made construction possible in the Pel’sun, and provided the small groups that regularly inhabited the region with enough material to build structures such as small huts, shacks and raised platforms. The lake itself had no vegetation growing out of it but had many floating clusters of weeds and leaves. These floating weeds were intertwined tightly together and made sturdy floating platforms where people could build camps and light structures.

These floating surfaces were used as portable storage houses by the fishermen who would camp in the region for months before they returned inland. They would be attached by rope to one of their boats and dragged around as the fisherman explored different fishing spots. The waters here teemed with aquatic life all year round and provided the native fishermen with a lifetime's worth of fish. To the East of the Pel'sun Bayou were the outlines of the volcanic peaks that erupted in 3E 154.

These volcanoes erupted periodically throughout Pel’sun’s history but had never been as destructive to the region. The thick toxic clouds discharged from the explosion were driven into the Pel'sun Bayou by the local wind systems that blew in an east to west direction. The poisonous clouds contaminated many surfaces and trees, reducing entire groves to leafless tree husks and turning the water murky green. The Pel'sun Bayou experienced two major seasons, summer and winter. In summer, the Pel'sun simmered under sweltering heat and humidity.

The sun would beat down directly over the waters in this season, speeding up the rain cycles and suffocating the area in an uncomfortably thick and heavy air. Each mornings and evening, the terrain would be shrouded in fog that rose from the waters and masked the entire region in grey. The region witnessed an endless cycle of rainfall during this season which only eased once winter reached the lands. In winter, there was a slight reduction in the general levels of humidity of the region.

The time of the year was undoubtedly the most comfortable; cool breezes blew across the region and lowered the heat to bearable levels. The clouds would start to clear soon after, revealing the clear blue skies above.

==Plants==

The Pel'sun Bayou was known for its abundance of wood. The region was filled with groves of trees and smaller vegetation such as weeds and reeds. Some of the most common plants in the region were the tall eisse trees, the buoyant darher reeds and the Ightat trees. The eisse was the most characteristic tree of the Pel'sun Bayou. They grew in groves all along the swamp and were the most common tree in the region. These trees could reach up to thirty feet when fully matured and were valued for being the only reliable wood source in the region.

The bark of the tress was white and mottled with black spots. Its leaves were bright green in summer and grew progressively dull and darker with the changing seasons. They bore no fruit and had no part of them that was edible. Unlike mangroves, their roots were not as prominent above the water, and were deeply embedded into the soil beneath the waters. The darher reeds were plants that grew in water and were clumped together in tight knots that formed floating platforms on the water.

These plants were a blueish green in color and characterized by their long flat stalks that grew upwards and coiled around other stalks until they all formed a singular, flat platform. These plants had very strong buoyant properties and could support a reasonable amount of weight. These made them excellent surfaces for fishermen's camps and heavier and even more complicated wooden structures. These darher reed platforms supported their own ecosystems complete with small shrubs that grew on its surface and a variety of aquatic creatures that lived and nested in the roots below the water’s surface.

The ightat was a variety of mangrove that was endemic to the region. It was found all over the region and occurred in clustered clumps where the Pel'sun swamps met the deeper waters of the region's central lake. Its stem and branches were a pale brown in color and had bright yellow leaves that were poisonous for consumption. It shared the same exposed roots of other mangrove varieties and grew to a maximum heigh of a little over fifteen feet. The tree had little purpose other than regulating the water levels of the region.

It produced too little wood to be a useful resource and had no edible fruit. The bamboo-like um'lyeu plant also grew in several regions of the Pel'sun bayou. They were grown for their long stems which were water resistant and could double as basic construction material. They were a dull yellow in color and had long, dry leaves that occurred all along their stem. These stems could float on water and made for decent rafts when several bunches of these stems were tied together to form a platform.

Their hollow bodies could also serve as flasks, making them a very plant that could fulfil multiple purposes.

==Animals==

The animals of the Pel'sun Bayou were a mix of aquatic mammals and fish. Most of these animals were adapted to survive in the freshwater surroundings of the region. The rymok was an endemic fish species of the Pel'sun Bayou waters. They were small and plentiful, growing no more than ten inches in length. Their bodies were covered in an assortment of bright colored mixtures, unique to each fish. This made them very easy to spot in the waters and marked them out for predators and fishermen.

They hung out in large colorful schools below the darher reeds floating on the surface and fed on its roots and small worms. During the breeding season, these fishes would head into the warm and shallower swamps of the Pel’sun where they would lay their eggs before swimming back to the deeper lakes. These eggs would hatch in a few months, filling the swamps with tiny tadpoles, who would join the main school in the deeper waters once they matured. They were the main food source in the region and were the sole reason for the presence of many fishermen in the area.

The darurt was an amphibious animal that lived among the waters of the Pel'sun. It resembled a conventional crocodile but was smaller, with a maximum size of three feet and had soft rubbery skin that covered a thick layer of blubber. It had an ungainly and awkward appearance because of its proportionally larger body section. with thinner legs and webbed feet. It was deceptively agile in water and could stay underwater for hours at a time before it surfaced to breathe.

It spent most of its life underwater and was rarely seen over land. It was an unreliable food source because of the varying quantities of meat that could be harvested from one darurt to another. The Darurt was more commonly hunted for its blubber which was used for torches and lamps. The darurt had a carnivorous diet and preyed on the overwhelming numbers of fishes that could spawn in the region. The Pel'sun bur'chea was a variety of bur'chea that lived in the waters of the Pelsun Bayou.

It resembled an eel or a snake and was usually colored in brightly contrasting colors that resembled bands tied around the creature's body. Its body was capable of growing to over five foot in length which would coil around the smaller fishes and organisms that it fed on. The Pel'sun bur’chea was adapted to survive in the freshwater surroundings of the region. Although it shared its name with the bur'chea of the Olasi forest, the two creatures had very little in common. It was a completely different organism with a its own distinct biological features and habitat.

It was a very inadequate source of food and had no practical use, apart from its skin which was used as a decorative item and in elements of clothing. Their numbers are greatly limited because of their widespread hunting by native weavers of the zu'aan tribes.
