History
The Parakk kin'toni clan was founded in 4E 168. The clan was founded in the same city as the Xarte Kin'toni Clan, Yergha Kin'toni Clan and Vlakia Kin'toni Clan. The city was build into the stone of the Roeghough Overgrown Spires. It was overrun by the kin'toni just weeks before the clan was founded. It was protected by its carved into the stone nature.

The city was attacked by the Taem Kin'toni Clan along other clans, who used spies to scout out ways in, adn uses noises to wear down the city's nerves. They then cut off all food and water supplies, and held the city under siege for city for months. When the city was weakened, they claimed into the weak points of the city and had kin'toni with stone tools tunnel into the city and attacked.

The clan originated from the willingly turned members of the zu'aan militia forces. The Three Leaders emerged from the chaos and took leadership of the clan through their cunning. They assassinated the former leaders of the militia and took control. The militia forces were declared as the "Parakk Kin'toni Clan". They killed any dissenters and used fear to keep control.

Such early dissenters were mostly those who supported the old leaders. These old leaders were assassinated as they were "in the way" of the Three Leaders' rise to power. Azrath himself mysteriously vanished into the wilds. Soon after, the Xarte, Yergha and Vlakia also formed in the city from the ten thousand plus turned zu'aan. The clans lived together in the city for years with each clan having their own district.

Over two-thirds of the kin'toni turned decided not to join a clan and went their own ways into the wilderness. There was an uneasy peace in the city. Such peace was held mostly by the fear of the Parakk. Over time, the clan hunted all local wildlife to extinction. To get blood, the clans had to hunt further and further away from the city. This led to a shortage of blood and rationing.

In the end, the clans decided to split up and go their own ways. The Parakk decided to journey to the Aldah Blackwater River, a food-rich region. To reach the region, it was a journey of a few weeks. The clan moved on foot after sundown. They arrived at the river and soon began building themselves basic wooden shelters. The controller of the region at the time was the Yan'wi kin'toni clan.

The Yanwi were a clan with around 800 kin'toni. The Parakk used two main tactics to win their war. They leveraged their biological advantage by fighting in close combat with heavy bludgeons. They also used psychological warfare by striking at leaders and by tearing apart defeated foes with their physical strength. Body parts were paraded around as grisly trophies.

The Yanwi were soon demoralized and their numbers scattered. The clan wiped them out when they tried to flee. Any Yanwi survivors were killed and their remains used to decorate the Parakk's new lands. After the defeat of the Yanwi, the clan had an uneasy peace. Any nearby small groups of kin'toni did not dare go into the Parakk's lands or face a grisly death.

In the Shattering, the clan was quiet. They had no problems with other kin'toni. Their main problem was the lack of food caused by the fish in their river dying. The plants died from the ash-chocked skies and this led to the animals starving. They had to ration the blood they had due to the fish deaths. The clan survived through the Shattering with fewer losses than most clans.

As of 4E 500, the clan had noticed the incoming Ice Age. They had noticed the longer winters and shorter summers. Their fish started to die off again due to ever-colder water. The clan once again began to ration blood. The weaker clan members started to starve and some of them had even begun eating the dead. The clan faced a slow death from starvation, not an end at the hands of other kin'toni.

Psychology
Biology
The Parakk kin'toni are biological marvels. The original Parakk group had consisted of men and women who wanted to fight against the kin'toni, and of their children. Other than the children, most of the zu'aan in the original Parakk group had been incredibly fit or strong. Their zu'aan fitness and strength was amplified in their kin'toni forms. The Parakk kin'toni eventually became very proud of their bodies, training hard and long every day to reach the heights of physical fitness.

The Parakk eventually developed vertical slit eyes, which differentiated them from the rest of the kin'toni in the city. However, no one was entirely sure why their pupil slits had become vertical. It was most probably a mutation in the infection gene that developed quickly and passed down the generations. Proud as they were about everything about them, the Parakk were also proud of their eyes. They had the Voont kin'toni decorate their city with paintings of their eyes, with vertical slits and yellow irises.

However, the Parakk needed to maintain their numbers above those of the other clans in the area. This was because the Parakk used their numbers to retain control over the rest of the clans in the city and ensure that there was peace. Thus, the Parakk occasionally reproduced with their partners to keep the clans population maintained above the other clans. Since they did not enjoy reproducing, unlike the Voont, the arrangement between the two clans dictated that the Voont would raise some of their own turnees as Parakk and send them to the Parakk clan when they matured.

However, this was only done when there was a sharp, unexpected decline in Parakk population. The Voont-turned Parakk were easily distinguishable from the Parakk as they were much shorter even though they were taller than the Parakk clan from height training. They also had white sclerae and horizontal slit pupils and much shorter fangs. The Parakk started the strengthening of their bodies from childhood. Almost immediately after being turned, the Parakk kin'toni were sent to the Voont Clan territory.

Here, they were raised and taught how to fight. One part of their physical training involved hanging from high surfaces to lengthen their bodies. This was called height training and led to the dominating height of the Parakk. Eventually, the average height of the Parakk kin'toni reached 220cm. This meant that the Parakk kin'toni towered over the other kin'toni in the city.

Culture
The Parakk were the oldest clan to have been formed in their city. Their successful formation was a result of them understanding as zu'aan that their survival might be dependent on them turning themselves kin'toni. Their city was so overcrowded that the infection was spreading easily. It was difficult to defend many buildings and no matter what they did, one big group of zu'aan staying in the same place was like a beacon for the kin'toni. When the Parakk started to realize that the kin'toni were strong, sentient beings, they decided turning kin'toni might be the only way to save the clan.

Due to the risk involved, the leaders of the Parakk were the first to be infected by Lu’muan. This incident set a precedent for the clan. They knew that their survival was dependant on their kin'toni form, and thus they became respectful and nurturing of it. They also knew that their leaders had taken a huge risk by letting themselves be infected – at that time the kin'toni virus was expected to damage the recipient’s brain and lead to a very early death; the brain damage was attributed to their desire to feed on zu'aan blood. Thus, the clan also imbibed the value of ‘teach by example’.

Further, there was a time of transition for the Parakk group when some of the members were kin'toni and others were zu'aan. They knew that this was a dangerous precedent, but they did not want to risk their entire group dying out due to the infection. To avoid a blood rampage, the kin'toni Parakk used to feed whenever they felt the slightest bit of hunger. This habit was also passed down the generations and the it became the norm for the Parakk kin'toni clan members to consume large quantities of blood very regularly.

However, they soon realised how unsustainable that was in a world where few zu'aan were left, most of which were always on the run from kin'toni. To Parakk, obsessed with dominance and perfection, tested a lot of feeding patterns to find out how they could get the most amount of energy from the least amount of blood without starving themselves. They were also determined to be the dominating kin'toni clan in the city. They did this by training their bodies so that they were intimidating – muscled and incredibly tall.

They also maintained their numbers well above any of the other clans, with the help of the Voont. They also did not waste any of their time. They did not even take the time to raise their own young, giving that job to the Voont as well. They spent their time building relations with the other clans in the city and making their military strong. The Parakk only did the former because they did not believe in unnecessary kin'toni death, no matter what clan they were from.

They wanted to maintain an understanding with the clans just for this reason – to avoid any dispute especially in land or hunting. However, if it ever came down to it, the Parakk knew they would win because the Voont would fight alongside them, and the Parakk themselves were biological marvels.

Government
The Parakk took a long time to form a government structure. First, it was just the three leaders who presided over the clan. Their main concern was keeping the people of the clan safe, and so their work was mostly in making decisions for the clan’s actions. Essentially, the group was entirely a militia until the city gained stability again. For a while, the clan did not feel the need to change their ways. Then, they realised that they wanted dominance over the other clans in the city.

They needed to organise their clan to accomplish that. Luckily, they had the foresight to know that they needed a long term solution. At the start, it would be easy as the rest of the clans being made by the turned kin'toni while Parakk had already been a zu'aan group. They decided that they would gain dominance in three ways. The first would be to create a military that was stronger and more skilled than the other clans could accomplish. The second was to ensure that their numbers remained higher than any of the other clans. The third was to build alliances and bonds of requirement with the rest of the clans.

The Parakk kin'toni thus formed a main government with two branches, one for alliances and one for internal control. They allowed the military to be a separate entity from the government. The Parakk maintained the system of three leaders with the simple title of leader, as they did not believe in the power of words. It was around this time that the Voont kin'toni reached the city. The Parakk saw this as a golden opportunity and decided to form an alliance with the Voont clan.

They decided that they would offer the Voont food and protection, and in return the Voont would raise their young, provide them with strength in numbers, and make zu'aan supplies like furniture and clothes for the Parakk. Now, the Parakk soldiers were also given rotational duties to guard the Voont territory. This was when the Parakk identified another way to establish dominance in the city. They decided that they would make a “legal system” and allow that to be used for any inter or intra clan disputes. This was called the Parakk city court.

It took quite a while for the court to be accepted by all the kin'toni clans. The Voont, obviously, did not have any objections. After all, the court was initially created to decide the judgement for the Parakk soldiers who had endangered the Voont kin'toni in any way. The Voont did not even notice the Parakk clan’s grab at power. They were merely glad that they had such strong allies that took their safety so seriously. Of course, the Voont had been concerned that the proud Parakk would never act against one of their own members.

However, the act of creating the court assured them that the Parakk were just and took their alliance seriously. The other clans soon followed.

Military
The Parakk were the oldest clan to have been formed in their city. They had originally been a zu'aan militia. Their successful formation was a result of the understanding as zu'aan that their survival might be dependent on them turning themselves kin'toni.

They collected their prey on hunting trips and brought back the living captured zu'aan and the blood of any that died in the battles. This was because the Parakk also hunted for the Voont, and the Voont only accepted blood in containers.

The Parakk did not mind hunting for the extra clan as well since the Voont consumed very little blood compared to how many of them there were. To hunt, the Parakk left in big groups of 15-20 people and they headed straight for places that they knew zu'aan eventually gravitated to – this meant places with freshwater or the areas where the Parakk had asked to zu'aan to plant food. It was only if these places were not inhabited that the Parakk ventured further away from their city.

They decided that they would gain dominance in three ways. The first would be to create a military that was stronger and more skilled than the other clans could accomplish. The second was to ensure that their numbers remained higher than any of the other clans. The third was to build alliances and bonds of requirement with the rest of the clans. The military leader was the only one who had a structured system working under him. This was because they had to oversee a lot of different tasks that the clan undertook. The first military leader was a zu'aan called Sha’rye.

She, along with the other two leaders was one of the first to be willingly infected. She was also the one who decided the strict physical regime for the Parakk clan. The first branch of the military was the one responsible for overseeing paroles. Originally, there had only been one unit under the branch, however once they needed to protect the Voont, the unit responsible for it was also taken under the parole branch. This branch had a representative who the Voont approached whenever they needed a detail to accompany them anywhere.

The second branch was responsible for the main military duties of the Parakk. This branch sent out hunting units to gather zu'aan for feeding, and collecting any intel if possible. They also ensured that the Parakk trained every day so that their physical fitness was maintained.

Religion
Like all of the other clans in the city, the Parakk followed the Voont’s H’lla religion. Despite the fact that the kin'toni were incredibly strong and genetically superior, their life was not easy. Their religion gave them something to believe in. The city had had a solid structure, but years of low maintenance had ruined the buildings. Moreover, they did not have access to electricity or tap water, or any of the luxuries they brought. Their technology was stuck in the stone ages, especially without assistance.

However, the Voont clan made life a little more comfortable for all the clans in the city. Their ideals and religion taught them to be kind and giving and that resonated in good will with the entire city. Thus, when the Voont started practicing H’lla, the Parakk clan did as well, and the other clans in the city eventually followed, whether weeks or decades later. H’lla gained so many followers that a major temple was created near the border of the Voont territory near the forest.

However, like most clans, Parakk also had at least one smaller temple inside their territory. The major temple had priests from every clan, practicing H’lla and praying to the goddess H’llaya all year round. However, apart from the priests, no one was allowed to enter or leave the temple throughout the year. This was because consuming blood one days before entering H’llaya’s home was considered sacrilegious. This was why the temple needed so many priests, because other than Voont kin'toni, many kin'toni could not go more than two days without blood and thus the priests constantly rotated in and out of the temple to feed while maintaining the strength of the temple.

The temple was open to the public only on the four holidays of the year – each of which was considered the start of a new season. One these days, only one delegation of kin'toni travelled to the temple from each clan, to ask for guidance and protection for the next season. Thus, the main area of worship for the kin'toni were in the temples inside their territories. These temples were considered passages to the house of H’llaya and thus did not hold the same rules of fasting. Most clans developed their own system for worshipping in these smaller temples.

The Parakk clan practiced H’lla every other day. They gathered in the territory centre and prayed silently for at least thirty minutes, in such a way that every member was praying for at least 5 minutes by rotating the parole. They considered the paintings on their walls as religious markings, even though they were simple paintings commissioned by the Parakk from the Voont. The paintings were usually the interesting vertical slit eyes.

The yellow irises of their eyes were captured beautifully in the murals, which made the paintings mesmerising to look at. . On the alternate days, that is the ones on which they weren’t praying to H’llaya, they honoured their dead by praying on their own in their homes.

Miscellany
The city that the Parakk inhabited was truly unique. The entire city was split up into territories that were occupied by one of five clans. These clans lived in harmony in most part, usually following the ideal of live and let live. However, the city had not always been thriving. There was a time when only the Voont and Parakk clan co-existed and the other three clans considered the city to be nothing more than a location that happened to have zu'aan buildings and some of the buildings happened to be occupied by rival clans. However, this ideology did not help anyone.

The Parakk and the Voont created their symbiotic relationship as soon as the Voont reached the city. The peaceful, small Voont clan would never have survived if the Parakk had not offered them blood and protection. The other three clans in the city would have seen the Voont as a potential threat that could try to take over their land and thus would have tried to kill the Voont as soon as they were spotted. However, the Voont were lucky as the Parakk clan territory was closest to their side of the forest and hence where the Parakk chose to hunt.

A hunting group came across the Voont kin'toni and they decided to bring them in as they were short enough to be zu'aan and had white sclerae, even though their eyes were slit. There were a handful of more Voont kin'toni than the hunting group at that time, but they knew that they would easily be overpowered. Thus, the did not put up a fight, but demanded that they, as kin'toni, were at least allowed to walk freely. The hunting group was too smart to let an entire group of unrestrained strangers into their territory, so they said that only 3 Voont members could come with them to meet the leaders, while the others would have to wait with the guards outside the fortifications.

The Parakk leaders heard the Voont clan’s story and realised that they could increase their potential by forming an alliance with the Voont. The Voont gladly agreed to the terms, and the rest of the clans eventually followed. This was because, despite the fact that the kin'toni were incredibly strong and genetically superior, their life was not easy. The city had had a solid structure, but years of low maintenance had ruined the buildings. Moreover, they did not have access to electricity or tap water or any of the luxuries they brought.

Their technology was stuck in the stone ages, especially without assistance. Treating the people around them as enemies or rivals would do a clan more harm than good. This is where the Voont came in; the Voont clan made life a little more comfortable for all the clans in the city. Their ideals and religion taught them to be kind and giving and that resonated in good will with the entire city. Since the Voont embraced zu'aan lifestyles, they also embraced the zu'aan ability to create.

They made all sorts of material, from clothes to furniture or utensils – anything that was no weapons. The Voont then traded these items in exchange for packaged blood from the other clans. The other clans were originally sceptical, the soon came around. After all, the Voont dedicated almost all of their time to crafts. The Voont and the Parakk clans had newly made clothes while the other clans had only rags that they looted or loincloths that they made themselves.
