== History ==

Oyosu Forest is one of the oldest forests in the entire world. Before the tribe, before the Kin'toni Plague and the rise of the Zu'aan Empire, Oyosu Forest has been a source natural beauty that captivated people, specially aristocratic and artistic people looking for reprieve and inspiration, eventually becoming home of the Prophet Ihrenu and his followers, the ancestors of the Onech tribe. During the outbreak, the forest was essentially quarentined by its rich inhabitants and their guards but, its believed that Ihrenu and his followers captured and released weaker Kin'toni on the border of the forest and let them create small pockets of the plague which would wreak havoc on mercenary forces, and they would wipe themselves and their masters off eventually.

This was a short-sighted move as the locals had created a bunker to protect themselves, and which would become filled with infected people that would later break out and pretty much destroy Ihrenu's people. Ihrenu considered himself a spiritual leader of the zu'aan, and menaged to gather around a hundred followers to create a new society in the forest. His plans failed as soon as he got infected and set himself on fire attempting to cure himself with a "magical spell". His followers who were shocked to learn of his death vowed to continue his teachings but never quite menaged to agree on what "building a new world from where it all started" meant, and immediatly splintered into the Ihrenu-Zu, who thought their leaders were in direct contact with Ihrenu and the Zu-Unach, who thought they should move on from their old leader and follow his successor Unach.

The two existed semi-peacefully together for around 90 years until they attempted to reconciliated their doctrines, which ended poorly, with bloodshed and curses. From that day on the two groups existed in a cold war of sorts, with the Ihrenu-Zu plotting to destroy the Zu-Unach using equipment from the old bunkers, which unleashed a small army of ravenous kin'toni upon themselves. The Zu-Unach lost 70% of their population to violent altercations with the infected, emerging a battered and broken people, only a few hundred individuals known as the Onech, perpetually licking their wounds.

== Geography ==

Oyosu Forest is perfect for zu'aan habitation as its gentle hills and slopes are delicately covered with almost perennial, soft, pure white snow. This snow makes the area slightly difficult to traverse but not as hazardous as most places have become after the fall of the zu'aan Empire. Most zu'aan habitation is centered around Blumme, the very last Onech settlement with others of the tribe living in small farmsteads living in the middle of nowhere. The ruins of the old Ihrenuka and Lumnab villages lie empty, silent and covered by snow. Both places are seem as sources of great shame for the Onech, as they see their ancestors as misguided people who lost sight of the Fire God Ihrenu's light.

Ihrenu's teachings have survived and have been further misinterpreted, turning his accidental death into a glorious ascencion, which influenced the Onech to builld the humble but culturally significant Argatu Monastery near Blumme. Also near Blumme is the river Erumis which feeds the nearby Erumis Basin, which can be compared to the heart of the forest as it is the largest body of water in the entire region and is fed by many others rivers and smaller tributaries that trascend Oyosu Forest like the Arceph, Rimere and Opsian rivers which all begin in other parts of the world such as Ormdan Forest and the Osold Woods. Otherwise, the forest is lightly wooded with a mixture of agnesp, lynesp and xynep trees which are home to a variety of flying creatures like enwoos, enkiras, jareens, ochinas and yentens.

Shrubbery and medium sized black rocks dot the enviroment, giving in a more dense look and protecting the burrows and warrens of the eathbound creatures like Ffaetons, giblens, warnoms and many more. Nature thrives and remains as beautiful as it has ever been, though these woods have been stained with blood and littered with bodies more times than we know. Skulls and bones still resurface every once in a while, like secrets from the past.

== Plants ==

Plantlife, due to the normally cold climate of Oyosu Forest, is hardy and sparse. When the temperatures go up and the snow melts, the forest blooms with green and colorful flowers but, because they die out so quickly afterwards, a lot of these "temporary" species are also rarely seen by zu'aan eyes, therefore remaining obscure and unnamed.

• Aionna flowers are know for being so delicate and thin that their petals look almost transparent, like a thin layer ice. They only grow in shaded places with little wind, as strong winds can easily destroy them. They are highly sought after by Onech lovers, as a bouquet of Aionnas is considered a very romantic gift.

• Agnesps are exceedingly rare trees that, despite their rarity, are apperently useless. Their wood is brittle, an ugly shade of green, and produce a sticky, bitter sap that makes it burn extremely quickly and intensely. They are mainly harvested for their sap that is used im rituals at Argatu Monastery, and to make torches, lamp oil and even enhance the quality of firewood, if applied to Xynep wood.

• Enjami mushrooms are highly nutritious, though bland-tasting fungi that grows on fallen Lynesp trees. They can be easily cultivated by being placed on rotting, wet wood and usually spread quickly. Its so easy to grow them that Onech have rediscovered farming by creating Enjami farms on the outskirts of Blumme.

• Goormi shrubs are small, often dry shrubbery that grows all over the forest. They, rather curiously, give fruit right before dying and are picked clean by Enkiras. Its considered unfit for zu'aan consumption as it can cause an upset stomach if eaten. The toxin that causes it has to be boiled away in a lengthy process that most people find too much trouble to go through just to eat a handful of tiny berries.

• Koweens are large fruits that burst from the ground when they are ripe. They usually burst on their own as their soft flesh makes steady pressure against its fragile skin. They are often found and eaten by Featons, also being called "Featon Bait" by Onech hunters. Because they attract good game, they are often ignored by the local zu'aan but, they are ocasionally eaten and enjoyed for their pleasant sweetness.

• Lynesp trees are the most common tree type in Oyosu Forest, representing 2/3 of all trees in the forest. They have black, thick bark and soft, white wood. Lynesps have a tendency to fall over on their own and send their seeds all over the forest. They are famous for their low quality wood but also for being the homes of both Enkiras, Enwoos and even Yentens.

• Tasini plants are a parasitic invasive species that takes over other plants and slowly kills them by eating their nutrients. They are difficult to spot as the only sign of their presence is having a frustrantingly weak crop or tree that grows stunted and bears no fruit. They are the bane of Onech farmers and crops often have to be entirely burned to avoid spreading the plague. They are viewed as a curse by the locals and often associated with Ihrenu's wrath as reprisal for any slight percieved of imagined.

• Xynep trees represent 1/3 of all trees in Oyosu Forest. They are thousand-year old, half a meter thick and 15 meter tall on average with red-brown, thin bark and thick, dark-green, heart-shaped leaves. Xynep wood is dark-red, strong and yet easy to work with, perfect for crafting houses, boats, furniture and tools such as bows, arrows and spears.

• Lexagi plants are known for their medicinal value, specially for cleaning wounds and stopping bleeding if carefully applied or mixed into an elixir by experienced tribal healers. They were largely unused by the Zu'aan Empire who had long since abandoned the use of primitive herbal medicine.

• Antuli are flowers that grow nearly everywhere all over Oyosu. They form beautiful fields of multicolored, shimmering plants that are described as "dream-like" by those who see it. They are left completely alone by locals as their beauty hides niddle-thin but extremely sharp thorns that can horribly scar anyone that tries to rip out one of them fron the ground.

• Rubagg are strange plants. Strange in the sense that they appear to be from some other part or the world. They grow to completely envelop trees with their stalks and roots and begin to meddle with their basic make up. They are not a normal parasite as they don't feed on the host but rather they seem to be attempting a symbiosis of sorts, twisting their new host in order to merge their forms together into a completely new thing, which often doesn't work and creates horrid, mangled trees. These trees are often burned by the Onech who see them as a bad omen.

== Animals ==

Nature thrives in Oyosu Forest. Animals live in a perfectly balanced enviroment. Natural balance is delicate and zu'aan presence tends to greatly upset it but, their dimished numbers means that both flora and fauna can continue performing their duties of making the world work.

Home to many flying creatures, Oyosu Forest is sometimes called Song Forest by the Onech as you can tell in what part of the forest you are solely by paying attention to the singing and whistling of the nearly creatures.

A few of the forest's more notable inhabitants are:

• Enwoos are small, feathery, and beaked creatures capable of shifting the color of their feathers to match their surroundings in just a few seconds. They are symbols of status among the Onech as only great hunters can find and capture one. Unfortunately, they die quickly once in captivity, unable to bear the indignity of being kept as thropies.

• Enkiras are related to the Enwoos, having the same basic appearance but none of their stealth skills. They loudly whistle melodious songs that fill the forest all day long, which tend to aggravate their silent cousins and drive them further into the forest.

• Faetons are fat, four legged, hairy creatures with long trunks that feed on fruits and kill giblens out of fear. Featons are know for being slow and weak but when cornered they can trample other creatures rather effectively. They are often caught unaware by warnoms and Onech hunters looking for an easy meal.

• Giblens are small, scaly things that slither around and hide in huge, underground burrows during the harsher months of winter. Giblens are terrified of zu'aan and normally eat enkiras by ambushing them at the entrances of their nests.

• Jareens are brightly colored flying creatures related to Enwoos and Enkiras that are sought by the Onech as pets and or to live around Argatu Monastery. They are considered to be direct creations of Ihrenu due to their bright orange and yellow tones.

• Ochinas are the "heralds" of the forest that scream in loud, shriking cries to warn others of the approach of their natural predators, the Warnoms. That happens mid chase, a product of the Ochinas' fear of the much bigger and sharp-taloned Warnoms. Ochinas themselves are rather unremarkable in appearance and are considered to be "good creatures" by the Onech who greatly appreciate their warnings.

• Yentens are a rare sight. They are loners by nature and slow to breed. Yentens are medium sized beasts capable of quickly climbing trees with their dextrous hands and prehensile tails. They are shy and avoid contact with other animals entirely, usually only meeting other yentens to breed, which produces only a single offspring.

• Warnoms are terrifying, meter long flying creatures with talons so sharp they can pierce a Onech warrior's leather armor and even damage wooden shields. Warnoms are consumate hunters but also are seen as symbols of balance as they keep the populations of Enkiras, Featons, and more notably, Ochinas, in check.

• Smadocs hunt in packs and range far and wide across the Oyosu Forest region. Their fear of fire makes them steer clear of the Onech, often attacking during the day when normally they are nocturnal creatures.
