==History==

The Ollayso kin’toni clan is actually a group of smaller clans that formed a union under the Ollayso name. In their region, the word Ollayso means strength, more similar to immoveable or invincible than physically powerful. Taking the name as a group is similar to calling them eternal sentinels. None of the clans had originated in the [[Tinige Overgrown Cliffs]]. Each of the clans did find themselves in the region, setting up settlements and making trade agreements around the same time during the Awakening age. This caused lots of confusion for the various neighboring regions as they didn’t know who technically had control over the region. They all managed to not get into conflict somehow, considering a number were on opposite sides of each other on what they thought was right or needed for the region.

Their various deals in those instances would often either contradict or impede with one another. More often than not the deals, for both clans in the region, were dropped for the sake of the peace. For a good portion of the Awakening age they stayed out of each other’s way, content with their individual sections of the cliffs. The region being large gave each of them enough for a mid-sized city easily. That changed though when a number of other regions banded together as they wanted the cliffs for strategic control in a war with another region, but all those in the territory denied their attempts at a deal. The group invaded and forced a handful of the groups into others’ territory.

Once they all heard what was going on, they decided to form together under the Ollayso name; the immoveable defenders of the region. Banded together they were able to force the other groups back out of the region. The region remained quiet for the Ollayso until there was an outbreak of a disease in the region. It started in the Shattering age, which caused a number of issues as the Ollayso relied mainly on the creatures in the region as their main food source. They levied their alliances into getting equipment suitable for them to attempt at making a medication, or at least a treatment for the disease. The Ollayso up until that point hadn’t left the region since the first arrived way back when.

They started sending out members to trade and search for any currently known medicinal plants and treatments to bring back for them to test. They soon discovered that they had weak immune systems, but they managed to not have an outbreak upon those members’ return. They as a clan made a huge almost century like jump in their medicinal creation and science while working to solve the disease in their region. In the past, they had a booming economy, which continued to grow as they traded and sold their concoctions to zu’aan and kin’toni alike for more supplies to try other varieties of treatments. As of the moment the Ollayso are still looking for a proper treatment, but they have started importing vegetarian kin’toni safe plants as a substitute.

==Psychology==

The Ollayso are a very analytical type of clan overall. Being made up of different clans, turned from different types of kin’toni there’s a number of differences between the individual groups. Their ‘left-brain’ leaning nature is a common thread throughout them. Each has varying levels of "emotional intelligence" ranging from being completely and exceedingly empathetic to complete socio and psychopaths. The grand majority of the groups were in the middle though, being able to understand the other clans but there was still a level of disconnect from them. Those with higher emotional intelligence level are usually deferred to when it comes to acting as the clan's spokespeople or representatives with other clans. They are a very ‘do it yourself’ independent kind of group.

So when the disease started to spread through the region they were all inclined to work together to figure out a cure, or at least a way to treat it; without outside intervention that is. They would use what was already known to aid them, but they would refuse to allow any others to be directly involved in the creation of the medicines as “it was their problem to figure out”. This annoyed many outside the region as they didn't see the difference between them accepting the supplies and the previous knowledge from their being directly involved. This was particularly true for other science focused clans. The Ollayso though couldn't see their side as they believed that their logic made perfect sense and that it was the other clans' line of thought that didn't make sense.

Many have a deep-seated desire to protect the region, as its their home, similar to a patriotic desire; though there are a few that don’t care as much and are willing to leave to find a new place free from the threat of disease. Those that deeply care are the major part of the rejection from the other nations. Those who disagree have taken a "hands off" approach to the situation, allowing the other to be the main voice and face of the clan. It is partly being prideful on the various groups' part, though they are almost never outwardly so, so it reads as newfound stubbornness on their part as opposed to an ego issue to the other clans. Some of the groups are very solitary, finding more comfort in being alone, while others are more communal and family oriented wanting to be in large groups.

Those less socially inclined were largely left to their own devices, but the more familial and social of the groups would make sure to inform them that if they so wished they were invited to join them for whatever celebration that was going on. Those who are solitary usually have a stubborn streak in them so they'll often "cut their nose to spite their face" by purposefully remaining uninvolved with the other clans even if they really do wish to interact on a rare occasion. The more family-oriented groups are less likely to have those streaks as they constantly have to learn and compromise for the betterment of their group.

==Biology==

Like with their psychology, each group is a little different biologically due to the different groups and those who created them. Being in the region though has caused all of the groups to develop a weakness to viral infections though an immune deficiency though. The cause was mainly due to long term exposure to a specific disease that lived in the region. It did not have symptoms associated with it for kin’toni, but the long-term exposure was enough to alter and weaken their immune system to the point that viruses could begin affecting them. This was largely unknown or unnoticed by those in the region as there was never any virus in the region that could affect them- at least to their knowledge.

The clan considered themselves, like other kin’toni to be ‘unable to become sick’ due to the lack of viruses that could tough their system. It wasn’t until the outbreak of the animal effecting disease- a mutated strain of the one that they were all infected with- and the requirement to travel for needed supplies to work against said disease that the first few Ollayso members started noticing how effected they were from diseases in other regions. What was only mild symptoms or none at all became near crippling for day to weeks for the Ollayso. Due to this, the Ollayso would plan to be laid up for at least a month to make sure they were not carrying the virus and taking it back to their clan once they received the supplies. They would quarantine just outside the region until deemed healthy or safe and bring the supplies with them.

The deficiency didn’t come without any benefits though, as the Ollayso found out when a larger clan attempted to invade while they were distracted with the disease that they could produce venom. The venom was uniquely toxic to other kin’toni, while completely harmless to zu’aan. The members theorize that it has to do with the changes that the kin’toni go through during the initial change that makes them susceptible to the venom. Where the venom was injected from depended on the group. Some came from their nails or talons, while other came from a newly developed set of fangs and rarer some could spit the venom from glands under their tongue on command. Zu’aan became interested in the venom and negotiated to trade for as much as the Ollayso would give.

Those zu’aan were given diluted amounts that they used as protection- enough to poison but not kill- from other kin’toni groups. A group of more science directed zu’aan managed to negotiate for ‘pure’ venom. They, under the Ollayso supervision, were conducting research into using said venom to prevent an infected zu’aan from turning into a kin’toni. The research has largely been unsuccessful, either killing the patient if they were too far along with the infection, or interestingly enough, turning them into that specific type of Ollayso. Those who were ‘overridden’ from other kin’toni though were found to be incapable of producing venom like the other Ollayso as well as having various intolerance levels for zu’aan blood from minor digestion pain to full blown sickness reactions including hurling the substance.

==Culture==

Each of the groups that make up the Ollayso have minor differences in culture that correlates with their psychology. One thing they all share is that they hold a celebration for when they formed the Ollayso, each year. Some consider it a way of honoring overcoming their differences, others think of it as a reminder of how they were almost pushed from their homes, and others (the more resentful) saw it as a large reminder that none of the groups were to try and do their own thing, else the others would ‘check’ them back into place. Each of the groups takes turns hosting the celebration.

It would start from their main part of the territory and work its way around, moving through the other parts of the region until it would end at the site of their agreement and treaty. How long the celebration lasted was up to that individual group as they were the ones responsible for handling that; though it was a minimum of 2 weeks to go through every area and reach the center of the region. The celebration would be similar to a parade and fair. There would be float like carts that were decorated in various ways according to the theme that the group decided on that year. Some would use plants, others would carve and sculpt, some created a mix with space for them to stand and dance on top.

If the group was really intense with planning, they would have carnival like games that they would set up and run in each of the smaller territories. Most were skill-based games for the youth/newer turned kin'toni to practice their various aiming, strength or balance skills. Others they made on a pure luck basis. The yearly celebration became a known event that despite their distain mostly, other clans and zu'aan would travel to the region to participate in the event. For those not in the clan, they would charge a minute fee for the games to make up the cost of making the prizes- they did not care if it was for clan members and would happily share, but for others they weren't as giving.

In their everyday life, most of the clan was focused on research and testing. They would spend the majority of the day working away, taking breaks when needed or there was nothing more to do at the time. On these breaks, when not eating, they would practice various skills. For some it was more creative skills that they could use their problem-solving skills to create, such as baskets, toys and other functional type items. Others it would be things like their hunting or fighting skills, and a rare few it would be more creative arts that acted as the highest-level prizes later in the year. They were not generally a creative expression type people so for anyone, outside the clan especially, to have an artwork from the Ollayso was considered a rarity that made the object extremely valuable for clans that were collectors- even if it was nothing more than a quick mindless scribble on parchment.

==Government==

The Ollayso’s main government is similar to the USA, where they have an overarching government that binds them together, with each in the union having their own smaller internal government. Each has their own set up, ranging from elected leaders, those who come to power via passing trials, to succession type situations. Each of the groups will send a representative to the center of the region, where the main government type building is, to discuss various issues that may affect the entire region such as trade agreements for specific resources that may affect things across territories. Beyond that, the ‘main’ government is very hands off with each of the groups, allowing the groups to govern themselves unimpeded.

Should there be a cross group issue that causes infighting and can’t be solved internally between the two and a mediator, they will step in and the other uninvolved groups will decide what action should or needs to be taken to be fair for all groups involved. This has only happened twice in the group’s history, as they try to continue with their uninvolvement in each other’s lives and habits. The most severe was when a member of one group severely and almost fatally wounded another groups’ member. The wounded group was unhappy with the way that the member was being punished and demanded more repercussions as they saw it as them getting a ‘slap on the wrist’.

It was decided that they would get a more severe punishment delt out by a different group but that after that the matter was to be let go and not brought up again as an attempt to garner more actions against the clan. Early on in their history, before their government was fully set up, the Ollayso had sent one group’s leader to another clan for negotiation as a representative. When they were killed in an assassination plot though, the group who lost their leader was given rights by the ‘larger government’ to act with their full backing and authority for whatever form of justice they saw was fit for those behind the attack. Beyond that one situation the larger government acts separately from the smaller and generally doesn’t have any laws that are required to be followed except.

Send a representative for your group, attempt to solve any infighting among yourselves first, and inform the rest of the groups if there are any outer clan interactions that may affect the rest of the clans. The majority of the groups have a single leader that stays with them, along with the representative they send on their behalf. There are two though that the position is one and the same, as they are in close proximity to the meeting place- only about an hour journey, slightly longer if there’s bad weather. One of these two is an elected leader while the other is a ‘trial by fire’ type where they are given a number of extremely physically grueling tests along with a smaller number of mentally taxing tests.

The one picked by the group is usually accepted by the others to be one of the if not the best rounded member of the clan, as the group doesn’t limit themselves to only their members if they find the candidates unworthy or lackluster in their results.

==Military==

The Ollayso don’t have much of a fighting force organized as each group relies on the other as backup if they were attacked. All the members of the groups in the clan are trained to fight in battle in various specialties for each of the individual groups. They are also trained in various tactics of battle strategy incase they are caught alone or in a situation where the other groups cannot provide aid timely. This way they can come up with strategies that will keep them and the region as protected as possible. This was mainly due to the fact that the groups originally did not have any training, thus causing them to flee deeper into the region before the Ollayso was formed.

They as a larger clan do not keep a specific ‘reserves’ or stand by force at the ready incase of invasion. It usually comes down to who of the groups is put on the front lines by being attacked first as to what kind of response or organized force is formed. Generally, though, the outer edged groups are better suited for ‘heavy hitting’ physical attacks with weapons like maces and axes. This is mainly due to the fact that the groups took the weapons from the defeated invaders that were more of the barbarian type. The inner groups are more long range suited, as they continued and trained with their original weapons that they mainly used for hunting meals. Both groups learned to hunt mainly in a nonlethal manner so that they could preserve and harvest as much blood as possible from the creatures in the region.

This conflicted with their fighting in battle as they naturally aim for nonlethal attacks that for most wouldn’t stop of impede them. Because of their lack of prepared forces they will often attempt to scare off other invading forces before they engage in direct conflict. Each of the groups attempt this by using their venom in a ‘biowarfare’ type response, poisoning a number of the enemy forces with nonlethal doses at first to both lower the number of fighters and also act as a ‘warning shot’ if they don’t leave. Sometimes this works to scare off the less fighting inclined, while others it drives them into a rage and forces the direct conflict. With the lower numbers the Ollayso stand better chances in battle, so they will conduct random poisonings, sneaking into the camps and injecting soldiers directly, or poisoning their food supplies.

A rare few groups alter the venom into an absorbable poison that they apply to the invaders’ weapon handles or clothing. These groups do so as they’re of weaker physiology and are all but helpless if it ever came to a direct or hand to hand combat situation. The poison takes longer to absorb than the venom, but is much more threatening to the system as it cannot be forced out like when the venom is injected. It has been rare that the Ollayso have to go into battle though, outside of their initial forming they’ve only been involved in battles a handful of times.

==Religion==

The Ollayso don’t have any sermon-based religion in the region. In the past there was a sect of a neighboring region's religion. There wasn't a specific God that they worshipped, but they believed that the souls of those who passed stayed and lingered close to those they cared about, for those who were vengeful around those who had wronged them the most. They believed that the souls would connect with and inhabit others' bodies. Some would choose creatures in the region, others would pick plants, and a rare few would pick zu'aan or kin'toni. They used this to explain the sense of deja vue that people would get. Their sermons mainly consisted of prayers and offerings to the souls to aid them in releasing their vengeful ways or continue their benevolence.

Once the creatures in the region began getting sick many started to doubt their beliefs as they hadn't done anything different that could have angered the souls to exact their rage on the region. After the doubt set in, many left the religion with only a small handful still prescribing to the belief, but due to the lack of followers they no longer hold sermons. The majority of those in the region do have a semi-religion based off celebrations and tradition though. Each group holds their own fine-tuned religious views based on their specific cultures and celebrations creating a number of very similar but unique sects. Like some other regions, the connecting force of the religion is more philosophical than deity.

Each tradition that the groups celebrated held special meaning to them, in a way other groups or clans couldn't understand. For the oldest the traditions started as a sentimental reminder, but for the younger it became a mandatory part of the group life that they would partake in when it came around. One such celebration was the memorial of that group's leader and their mate. They had both been killed in an assassination attack while traveling to represent the region and clan. In the mornings, the group would pray to them, similar to how some cultures pray to their ancestors for guidance and protection. On the date of their deaths, a large memorial service is held where the current group leader will speak on their sacrifice and what clan members must do to live by their example.

For the grand majority the Ollayso formation and the yearly celebration is akin to Christian’s yearly memorial for Jesus. They hold it as an important turning point in their history, and while not directly calling them so, raise the leaders of the various groups who were at the meeting that day to the point of Saints. It's celebrated as a large festival like parade that can last weeks. On the day of the treaty, the hosting group will hold speeches about and reenactments of the event as well as speaking on how the groups must continue on the groundwork that those at the event set for them. It's rare for outsiders to be allowed to the specific event, so to be allowed is considered a high honor.
