==Geography==

The Oikwta region's geography was dominated by many hills covered with temperate forests and vegetation. The terrain was quite even, with no severe inclines or elevations. This made construction activities in the region more manageable and helped in the conversion of the land into large fields for agriculture. Many of these large clearings for cultivation and settlements were a common sight all over the Oikwta region. The region had a long history of zu'aan habitation and the terrain and geography retained many impacts of their activities.

The smooth terrain of the region was inundated by two rivers that snaked their way across the entire region, running from north to south. The land was particularly fertile along the banks of these two rivers and most of the agricultural activities were concentrated along these patches of land. Many varieties of crops were cultivated here and the region regularly produced a surplus of these food items due to the fertility of the soil and the favorable weather conditions.

The region was easily navigable and accessible due to the existence of many roads all over the region. These were built over thousands of years by the many zu'aan inhabitants of the region. The terrain was dotted with many signs of zu'aan habitation such as tiny villages and a few major settlements where the structures could range from a few wooden huts to built-up areas consisting of large-scale construction and structures. The most prominent example of this was the large zu'aan city of Ikarki that was inhabited by the Ikarki city zu'aan.

The city had many beautiful works of architecture and woodwork that were constructed by craftsmen from all over the region under the patronage of the city's leader, Verlinglfr Aturbia. The city was a center of art and design in the Oikwta region. The Oikwta region was famous for its very temperate climate conditions that had three distinct seasons- spring, summer and winter. The temperature variations were not very extreme and the conditions remained habitable and comfortable all year round.

Spring in the Oikwta was associated with the blooming of all the flowers and plants of the forests. The region would turn into a bright and colorful display during this time of the year. Temperatures hovered in the low twenties during this season. Summer was distinguishable by the prominent yellow colors over all the crop fields as the zu'aan crops began to mature, turning the region into a mix of yellow and green. Temperatures would rise to the high twenties during this period, while experiencing regular precipitation and rainfall.

Crops would be harvested towards the end of this season before the onset of winter. In winter the temperatures of the in the region would drop and remain anywhere below twenty-degree Celsius. The sunlight would grow weaker during this season and most of the plants and forests of the region would lose their usual color. The winters were quite windy and had many strong winds that would blow along the valley floors.

==Plants==

The Oikwta forest hills region was home to a wide variety of vegetation ranging from deciduous temperate and coniferous trees as plants and crops that provided enough sustenance for the large population of the region. The presence of a large number of trees was also conducive to the construction activities of the zu'aan who settled in this region. Many large sections of these forests would be cleared for the populations wood requirements to be replaced by settlements constructed out of the sturdy wood of the kirqua-usk and bouset trees.

Other significant vegetation of the region included the m'kelild plant that grew all along the damp and exposed rocks of the forest floor or along rooftops while the atdar was the most common crop of the farming communities of the region. The kirqua-usk was a common type of deciduous tree that grew in the Oikwta region. Its name was derived from the local zu'aan name for the tree which was commonly used for construction throughout the region. It could grow to over ten meters in length and had a thick girth that produced a lot of wood from a single tree.

The tree had a distinctive white bark and was covered with broad red leaves that covered its entire stems and provided a lot of shade to the forest floor. It would shed its leaves during the mild winters and would eventually grow them back by the arrival of spring when it would also produce small bright pink flowers that would grow alongside its leaves. It was also used as a decorational tree and was planted along roads and city squares. The tree supported its own ecosystem and had many varieties and birds that lived along its large branches.

The Bouset was a coniferous tree that existed alongside the kirqua-usk in the region. It was generally taller than its counterpart and was used alongside for all of the region's construction needs. It retained its bright green color throughout the year and was one of the few vegetation that retained its color during the dull and dreary winter months. The tree had small needle-like leaves that were bright green in color and could cause small cuts and injuries when touched. It lacked any produce or flowers and only had value as a source of good quality wood.

The m'kelild was a moss like plant that covered all exposed sections of the forest floor along with rooftops and rocks. It was a very hardy and resilient plant that could grow on all surfaces and had a variety of uses in tribal medicine. It was a dull green in color and could absorb large amounts of water which would then double its size. Wounds would be wrapped in this soft protective coat in order to increase their healing rate and to also keep them protected from getting contaminated.

The plant was as old as the zu'aan and featured prominently in all their tales and fables. The atdar was a common crop of the zu'aan who settled in the Oikwta region. It was a water intensive crop that provided a soft and fleshy fruit that was a regular staple of the people. It could grow all year round and was suited to growing along the banks of the rivers that winded their way around the Oikwa region.

==Animals==

The Oikwta forest was home to a wide variety of wildlife that lived deep within the forests and among the branches of the many trees that dotted the region. Many of the zu'aan natives in the region would regularly indulge in hunting activities, wandering deep within these forests and killing these animals either for sport or for sustenance. The most popular attractions for these sorts of activities were the er'sayi- a fast paced plant eating creature that could reach triple the speeds of any living zu'aan at full pace.

Other common species included the taiche- a predator that hunted the other creatures of the forest, the ghad was another plant eating species that lived in the treetops of the region and the Engis bird that was both a predator and a hunted species in the Oikwta forests. The er'sayi was the most common and elusive prize for all zu'aan hunters in the region due to its speed and agility along with its awareness. It was very easy to spook the animal making it very difficult to sneak down on it.

It strictly fed on the plants and vegetation of the region and had a soft hide that could be used to create luxurious coats and carpets. The challenge involved in hunting these creatures made them famous and produced regular bands of hunters that would come down to the region from all over the continent to test their skills against this elusive prey. The er'sayi could grow to over four feet in height and stretch to around five feet in length. It had nimble, and muscular legs that could propel its body to surprising speeds in an instant.

The taiche was a predator that lived among the branches of the kirqua-usk trees of the Oikwta region. They were medium sized, agile predators that stalked their prey from atop their perch in the branches of the trees. They walked on soft padded paws with retractable four-inch claws that could rip apart their prey when combined with the momentum they gained from pouncing down from their tree-top homes. They were colored a faded white that allowed them to blend in with the white branches of the kirqua-usk trees.

They could grow to the length of a full grown zu'aan adult and weighed almost twice on account of all their muscles and bones. The ghad was a small animal with prehensile limbs and tails. It lived among the branches of the trees in the Oikwta forest and fed on nuts and leaves they grew among their habitats on the tree branches. They were regularly hunted by predators such as the taiche and had adopted many precautionary measures as a result. They only lived in packs and could fend off attacks with their sharp howling and the sharp teeth of their full-grown members that they used solely for self-defense.

The engis was a large predatory bird that would migrate into the Oikwta region every winter season when it would fly in from the icy mountain peaks to the north of the region. The Engis would reach the region in a very famished state and would start its predatory activities on all the smaller wildlife of the region.
