==History==

Even as the Shattering happened, the Ninal kin’toni clan never left [[Tayk Springs]]. They had been there for as long as they could remember, evolving and growing with the land around them. The first overly new thing to happen was the infection. It spread through their village quickly, taking many lives as it did. The biggest impact from this, was that most of the children died because of the infection. It wracked through their small bodies, and ultimately ended up killing many of them. Their deaths were slow, and watching it happen sent the village into a deep depression.

Their parents began to long for more children, missing the ones that they lost. As time passed, many of the Ninal kin’toni clan would kidnap children from neighbouring zu’aan villages and cities, and they would change them, hoping that they would be left alive. If they did live, they were sent off toa family to be loved, and if they passed, they were buried in a mass grave with the other kin’toni that passed because of the infection. At most, they would kidnap up to ten kids every month to see what their average age was so that the children would survive being changed.

Eventually they determined that age was 6. Thus began the widespread kidnappings of any children 6 and older, ensuring that they wouldn't take too many children from one place, and make sure the cities and villages that they kidnapped from weren't on high alert from the last kidnapping. Eventually, this led to many of the families in the Ninal clan to have their families back, even if it wasn't with the children that they started with prior to the infection. Many of the kin’toni families ensured that they were following the nuclear family model, ensuring that each child had a dad and a mom, and sometimes, they would have a sibling as well.

Before the kidnappings started, the Ninal kin’toni clan were a hardworking clan. They would spend their days out working for as long as they could, as they believed that hard work was the key to happiness. Many of the men would hold full time, taxing jobs, so that the women could be home with their children, taking care of and raising them. They would stay home and cook, clean, and raise the children from the comfort of their homes. As well as that, the women, or moms, would be the one to do the shopping for the family, as that would fall under ensuring they were taking care of their families, which was what they strived for.

Overall, the Ninal kin’toni clan were stubborn people, refusing to move when the Shattering happened, and when they heard reports of the large ice sheets pushing in from the North and South. They refused to move from the place that they had always lived, wanting to spend their time there until they passed away. That was how they had been raised for generations, and how they would raise their children as well.

==Psychology==

The Ninal kin’toni clan were a hard working clan. They worked day in and day out, always ensuring that they had work to do. This was because they lived on the philosophy that if you worked hard, you would be able to achieve anything you set your mind to. This was how they had lived for many years, and it was how they intended to continue living. Because of how hard headed they were, many of the members of the clan would work until they physically couldn't anymore. This would cause an earlier death than most other kin’toni, but they didn't mind that. If they weren't working, they seemed almost mindless, not knowing how they were supposed to spend their days, or what they were supposed to do if they weren't working.

Once the Shattering happened, and the infection wiped through their clan, nothing seemed to change for them, aside from losing their young children to the infection. They were distraught with the loss, and vowed to get their children back as soon as they could. The women seemed aimless once they understood that they couldn't get their children back, and this sent them into a fit of rage and greedy need. They knew that they would do anything to get their children back, wanting to love, nurture, and care for them once again, as that was all they knew how to do.

The women of the Ninal kin’toni clan didn't want to work like the men did. They didn't want to spend their days working outside of the house on anything, and they certainly didn't want to take jobs from the men. They would rather spend their time taking care of their houses, children, and husbands as they had been raised to do. Eventually they convinced the men of this, telling them how they wanted their children back to take care of them since they couldn't conceive anymore. They wanted to go back to being mothers and they didn't quite care how it happened.

Because of this, the men decided to send out the army to different zu’aan clans to take their young children, aged 6 to 10, and to bring them back so that they could be changed into kin’toni and kept as their children. As soon as a child was cleared to be rehomed, every mother who hadn’t yet gotten a child would flock to the medical building in hopes that they would be the one chosen to take the child home with them.

Because of their need to kidnap children and have families, many of the Ninal kin’toni clan had gone mad with it, they would urge the kidnappings of more children, no matter the cost, and they would state that the zu’aan wouldn't pursue them, that they would be left alone to care for the children. Eventually the kidnappings slowed down so that the clan members would be kept safe, and that any children that were kept were able to be hidden from any investigating zu’aan. This way they could keep their children how they wanted to.

==Biology==

The Ninal clan were a strong race. The men were sturdy from working day in and day out, always having something to do. The women were softer, their bodies supple as they spent their days with their children. This set a stark contrast between them, and made it easier to identify the differences between them.
The men had sun kissed skin, whereas the women had soft milky and dewy skin from spending more of their time inside than anything else. The size of the men compared to the women in the Ninal clan was a stark difference. The men stood tall, where the women stood significantly shorter than them.

But because of the muscles that the men had, they were slower than an average kin’toni. They weren't able to run fast, or keep up with any children, and that was why they didn't take care of them. The women as well weren't as fast as they could be, as many of them held some extra weight from carrying their children, and then being soft for hugs and other comfort for the children. They liked that they were bigger and softer, being entirely able to take care of their children because of it. Their eyes were a beautiful light shade of blue, almost how the sky looked on a summer's day.

Their hair, a light shade of brown. This, matched with their tan or milky skin, made them look more approachable and loving. The men looked like they could easily take care of their families, and the women looked motherly, soft and loving. This was what they had intended for it to be like. The women being the ones that took charge of the child rearing, ensuring that they looked like someone their kids could hold onto, and that they could trust. When they began looking for zu’aan children to kidnap, they searched for children with light brown or even blonde hair so that it looked realistic when they kept the children as their own.

They wanted children that looked like, and even sounded like they did, that way no one would suspect that they weren't actually their children. The children were usually confused when they were taken, but once they saw how inviting their new mothers were, they eventually gave in and accepted their new homes. Especially since some of them had come from zu’aan families that maybe had too many kids already, or families that weren't the nicest to them. Doing so ensured that the children were more likely to accept the kidnapping and wouldn't put up much of a fight once they knew that they were going to a place that they would be better taken care of and loved.

Initially they would be scared, but once they felt they were safe, they gave in and began to enjoy the homes that they were put in as they were always loving, especially as their mothers would spend a lot of time making up for lost time with the children they lost.

==Culture==

Many of the kin’toni in the Ninal clan follow the nuclear family. There would be a mother, a father, and then they would have their children. Each family there would have at least one child, although there were a few that would have over six children, always feeling the need to have more little ones to love. This was how they wanted it to be. The men of the family would be the ones that would work and provide for their families, and the women would stay home and care for the children until they would either go off with their fathers to work, or would make families of their own.

Because of this dynamic, women were generally looked down on if they weren't at home with children. If they wanted to work, they were allowed to, but they couldn't enter into anything that involved working for the government, or providing services to men. This was looked down upon as it was said that only men could work those jobs. Many women who wanted to work before having children or settling down would work at the market, or at shoe stores, selling goods usually to other women, and both they, and the men, liked it that way.
While they didn't usually have many traditions, the Ninal clan fell hard into a state of despair after losing their young children.

Once they started kidnapping other kids from zu’aan villages, it quickly became a tradition that all of the people of the clan would look forward to. They would all gather as the new children were brought in and taken to medical buildings to be changed. There was always something going on in the town square while they waited for the news about how many children had survived the change. Once the news was received, women would flock to the medical buildings to see if it was their turn to take a child home.

There were usually fights that would break out as women wanted to be the ones chosen, and on a few instances, the military would have to step in and have to separate the women chosen, from the ones that weren't. Eventually, once each family had at least one child again, they would send out smaller parties to collect children less frequently, still wanting to change them and keep them for themselves as they had become greedy with it. They had turned it more into a ritual than anything else, and while they were able to keep it away from other kin’toni clans as well as the zu’aan villages the children were taken from, they didn't show any signs of stopping, even though they had more than enough children amongst them.

Not that anyone seemed to notice this, or care about it since they were happy with the children that they had.

==Government==

The Ninal kin’toni clan was a very conservitive clan. They held the belief that strong action was the best course of action for any and all issues that would arise. The leaders consisted of all men, as it was believed that women didn't have a place within government proceedings. The leaders of the government believed that a woman's place was at home, caring for the kids, while a man's place was to sort out the important matters and ensure that everything was taken care of. Many of the women weren't able to vote in elections that involved things that weren't about them.

They were expected to let the men vote and decide things. But they were allowed to vote on matters such as childcare, market proceedings, and education for their children. These matters would be taken very seriously, and the women's opinions would be taken into high consideration to ensure that their needs were met on the subject. If it was found that any woman was impersonating a man so that they could vote, work, or otherwise do a man’s job, they would be taken to jail on a high sentence as it was heavily frowned upon to do so.

While it didn't happen often, there were a few instances when women would have the desire to change the laws in their favour because they wanted to work and knew that they weren't allowed to do so. They would try anything they could to try and change the laws to allow them to vote in different elections that they wouldn't usually be allowed at. Many women had tried to change the laws surrounding how many children were kidnapped at a time, as they thought they should be allowed to take as many as they wanted as often as they wanted.

This was looked down on by the men as they wanted to ensure that they wouldn't be drawing too much unneeded attention to themselves as they still held most of their trade routes and partnerships that they had before the infection changed them. While they didn't trade with any zu’aan, they did have partners who did, and they didn't want to risk being found out because all of a sudden there were more kids than there were in the days prior.

Having been found out would mean that a war would start, and they didn't want that to happen. While they had the army to support themselves, they didn't want to go into battle against however many other clans there were that thought that the kidnapping of zu’aan children wasn't okay, especially in excess. Therefore, the men made sure that they were keeping the kidnapping to a minimum, and the women out of the government, so that they were able to ensure their safety within their clan. Instead they would take the suggestions of various women as they came, and they would make changes where they could so that everyone would be happy with the outcome.

==Military==

As any traditional village would, the Ninal kin’toni clan had a large army. They had many fighters that fought on behalf of their clan. These fighters were trained in various styles, ensuring they always held a strong front.
While the army was there to battle on behalf of the Ninal clan, they also upheld other duties to the clans, such as ensuring safety on trade routes, guarding election or government proceedings, and aiding in the kidnapping of zu’aan children. Since there were so many things that the army took care of, they had to make sure they had the proper training to perform each task.

This meant that they were trained with various weapons such as broadswords, rapiers, and daggers. Each of them would carry a wooden shield, and they would be dressed in different types of armour. For tasks around their village they would wear a leather armour, and they would carry their rapiers and daggers with them. This would make mobility easier for them to ensure that tasks were done with ease. When they would go into battle they would wear their chainmail armour, and they would carry their broadswords as well as their daggers and their shields.

This would make it easier for them to be protected during battles, and some would even wear leather armour under their chainail to ensure extra protection and warmth depending on where they were going. Some of the soldiers were trained to use bows as it was imperative that there be some sort of ranged defence when they were at battle. They would use the bows as a first defence, ensuring that they would have a moment to pull out their swords before their enemies were on them. They were trained in many attack and defense tactics, allowing for them to perform at the best of their abilities and ensure that they would have the upper hand to win the battle.

Back in the town, when the army was deployed on missions, there would be a food drive held monthly. This was a mandatory event that ensured the soldiers would have food while they were deployed. Many of the villagers would be happy to contribute to the soldiers, knowing that their food would be going to a good cause. Sadly, there were always people that felt they didn't need to share their food with the army if the rest of the village already did, so they would try and say that they already donated, or that they didn't have enough to share at that time.

They knew that the food drive was mandatory, and that would mean that they would have to open their doors to the soldiers that had stayed behind to help out around the village with things that needed to be done there.
The soldiers would search the houses, finding any food they believed that they were allowed to take for their troops, and then they would be on their way to take it back to where the rest of the food was stored before it was taken to the army.

==Religion==

The Ninal kin’toni clan was primarily founded on the belief that there was one higher being, and that he was the one that granted them mercy when they prayed to him after doing something they believed was wrong.
They believed that this higher power was the one that had sent the infection, and that he was the reason that they had lost all of their children. Some believed that the children had passed because they weren't holy enough to receive the benefits that the infection had to offer to them, and because of that, they were taken from Taerel for good.

Because of how religious they were, they would pray before every meal they had, they would pray before they laid down for bed, and they would pray first thing in the morning when they woke up. On top of that, they would hold a religious ceremony twice a month to ensure that everyone was worshipping together. They would never have a set leader, as they believed that everyone should have the opportunity to teach their views to each other so that they could learn different ways to worship. While they were engaging in their worship, the children would be taken to their own little meeting place so that they could be taught the ways of worshipping as their parents and grandparents did.

Also, they had made their own handbook, writing down their core beliefs and branching off of them to ensure that they believed they were worshipping as best as they could. Many of the members of the army, and the workers, would take their handbooks with them everywhere that they went so that they always had them in case they needed them. Because of how religious they were, they would hold religious events for almost everything, and would incorporate their beliefs into whatever they were doing. When a baby was born it was prayed over, and they would hold a small ceremony to welcome it into their religion. When couples were married, they would recite special passages from their handbooks to ensure that they were following religious protocols.

At funerals, the body would be prayed over before and after it was laid into the grave to ensure that the kin’toni that passed would meet their higher power. They always made sure to incorporate their religion into everything. After the infection set in, and the kidnappings began, many of the women began to believe that their wombs were cursed since they were no longer able to bear children naturally. And once they started kidnapping zu’aan children, they were hesitant to believe that these children wouldn't pass away from the infection as well.

But once they started to see that they were living and able to be sent to a new home, they would regain their optimism and would embrace that they could once again have children, even if it wasn't naturally, and they believed that it was a blessing in disguise.
