==Geography==

The Natye desert was located between the [[Miarma Prairie|Miarma Prairie]] in the west and the [[Okoli Caldera|Okoli Caldera]] in the east. Geographically the region was characterized by its vast stretches of rolling sands and desert terrain. The Natye had distinguishable light purple sands that shimmered under the glaring sun to spectacular effect. Most of the desert's terrain was bare and barren and vegetation was concentrated only along small pockets of surface water.

The terrain had a habit of shifting with the blowing winds with entire dunes and features changing from day to day especially during the unpredictably windy summers. The only constant features in the vast desert were the tall, rocky Sanxag ranges that was visible from all over the region. The region would experience a drastic change with the discovery of the water source within the Sanxag ranges by the Huaetet clan. The water sourced from a large underground aquifer began to pour out, following a slow meandering route through the parched landscape.

The availability of water changed a lot in the way of terrain for the Natye desert. New areas of dense vegetation and croplands began to develop along the banks of this artificial river along with settlements and colonies. The wetter soil along the banks became a darker hue of purple- dull and bordering on black. The region had a singular season, summer- with temperatures that could reach as high as forty five degrees Celsius. Hot winds regularly blew across the region year round, aiding in the shifting of the desert terrain and depositing fine granules of sand on all structures and vegetation in the desert.

Most of the natural vegetation in the region was adapted to survive in the dry conditions of the environment. They needed very little water to sustain themselves and had long roots that covered vast areas around them to draw in every droplet of water from all over the desert surface. The leaves were needle like if they had leaves at all- adaptations required to minimize water loss. The vegetation in the area began to grow more varied after the artificial river began flowing and the region saw an increase in natural vegetation, including evergreen and more water intensive plants.

The banks all along the river became distinguishable from the rest of the region by its color and presence of vegetation. The region was uncomfortable for normal habitation and most of the native inhabitants of the area had developed some form of adaptation to the extreme climate. After the Shattering, the region began to experience a cold wave that swept through the region, causing temperatures to plummet to lows as extreme as minus ten degree Celsius. The drastic change in environment had many adverse effects on the ecosystem which slowly began to wither and die.

The river, sourced from the Sanxag range also began to weaken and eventually froze over- given the cold temperatures. The region began experiencing frost storms that brough in cold frost droplets and snow, masking the desert environment in a fine white mist.

==Plants==

The plants in the Natye Desert are adapted to survive in the inhospitable conditions of the region. These include the scorching heat, the lack of water and the strong winds which can envelope entire regions in heaps of sand. The vegetation in the Natye can be divided into three phases, one before the discovery of the water source another after the discovery of the water source in the Sanxag ranges and the last during the cold wave that hit the region during the later parts of the Shattering.

The first phase was dominated by hardy plants such as the iaytrel, the second phase saw the rise of crop fields, grasslands and evergreen trees and the last phase where the region was almost devoid of vegetation- which only occurred inside shielded areas like underground caverns. The most common type of plant life included the honkel trees, the enbanpol and the usktor plant. The honkel was the most common type of tree during the hot desert phase of the Natye region. The tree had brown needle like leaves that had a very narrow surface area to minimize water loss along with dry off-whitish bark that was brittle and lacked any proper utility.

The tree could hardly be discernable over long distances and reached its maximum height of eight feet only on rare occasions. Being low and close to the ground helped them weather the strong winds that blew through the region on a daily basis. The honkel tree also produced a fleshy fruit that was the main source of sustenance for many of the nomadic tribes in the region. The honkel trees had long roots that covered a substantial surface area signaling the presence of a water source nearby.

The enbanpol tree was a common tree that was found during the second phase of the Natye region after the discovery of the water source. They were evergreen and supported many other varieties of grass and plants that grew in its shade. It could rise to over twenty feet tall and were covered in a thick layer of narrow elongated leaves that were uniquely yellowish blue in color. The wood of the Enbanpol tree was stronger and more durable that the usual trees in the region, making them valuable as a crafting resource.

Additionally, the tree also produced a refreshing and juicy fruit that doubled as a source of water. The usktor crop was planted in abundance along most of the inhabited banks of the Natye's river after the discovery of the water source. Rising to almost six feet when fully mature, these crops could color the whole river bank in their distinctive bright green. Their seed grains could be plucked from a yellowish pod at the top of each stalk, yielding more grains per crop than any other substitute crop.

It was the most efficient way to make use of the limited farmland in the Natye region. Their grains were a staple among most of the new clans who came in after the discovery of the water source. It was nourishing and could be produced more reliably than any other food source in the region.

==Animals==

Most of the wildlife of the Natye were adapted to survive in the hot and parched conditions of the region. Their characteristic features included a low water requirement or some form of bodily modifications to store and conserve their bodies water content. Their skin lacked fur and other adaptations for warmth, instead they had thick skin that was resistant to the effects of the scorching heat. Despite its appearance as a desolate and empty land, the region supported many lifeforms and had a functional food chain that came alive at night.

The most prominent examples of wildlife in the Natye included the predatory cerbur, the rynsay, the dars and the acheem. The Cerbur was the most dominant predator in the Natye desert. It could grow to a maximum length of eight feet and stood very close to the ground with its short but muscular limbs that allowed them to rush at speed for short distances. Due to their limited rage, the Cerber relied on their stealth and tunneling abilities to catch their prey off guard.

Each limb had retractable claws that grew in length to about five inches, allowing them to quickly decimate their prey or dig their way into the ground. Their skin was covered in large scaly skin that was hardened and able to withstand attacks as well as the effects of the scorching heat. They had a longer than average snout that contained their powerful jaw that they used to disable their prey. They were strictly carnivorous and hunted during the cooler temperatures at night.

The dars were large blood sucking worms that lived deep within the Sanxag mountains. They were rarely seen on the surface and their presence was only detected after the Huaetet established their home within one of the caves in the region. They were over four feet long and slender when unfed- progressively getting larger as they fed on blood. They had small suckers at their mouth lined with rough edged teeth that they used to tunnel their way underground and into other creatures' habitats. They were a readily available blood supplement for the kin'toni of the region and formed a regular part of their diet.

Their exterior was covered in a soft leathery texture that could be treated to create comfortable clothing or material for other amenities. The rynsay was a migratory bird that passes through the Natye desert twice every year. The natives of the region used the arrival and departure of these birds to track the seasons and years. The rynsay's wingspan could stretch for over five feet on each side.The bird could generate enormous power and lift with each flap of its wings allowing it to carry off large cattle in flight.

It had two large clawed talons that could grasp and attack with equal effectiveness and a hardened beak that could peck out eyes and hearts. The bird was a dusty golden in color and covered in the glittering purplish sand of the desert floor. These golden plumes were regularly incorporated in the clothes of the nobility and could fetch high prices in the local markets.They lived off the wildlife of the region during their short stay and flew off to their breeding grounds in the south once they had their fill of the local wildlife.

Some adept kin'toni clans learnt to hunt these birds for food ensuring a constant supply of clear blood and meat that could last them for months.
