==Geography==

The Lorchean Tropical Flower Plain is mostly flat with a few formation of rolling hills. It is the eastern-most landmass in middle-Fibod being bordered by the Eastern Taerel Sea on its East and the Bu’dang Lake on its west. The flower plain spans over 10 by 5 league in land area. It is home to a rich biodiversity of insects, small animals and a a handful of species of birds. There are a number of Fibodian bu’s burrows scattered around the region. This burrows serve a number of purpose to the habitat of the plains.

Ga’tu’nga and a number of alchemist had studied how these burrows become the natural habitat of a number of the patuk birds that feeds on locust in the region. These locust are usually solitary insects and live all the way in the deep jungle of Darot but would come to Lorche each spring to mate and feed on the flower pods. The patuk birds would then act as a biological deterent for these locust and feed on them to prevent the locust from destroying the flower plains.

There are also a number of ponds scattered around the plain as well. These ponds are fed by an underground spring and is home to many unique fish including the quao fish named after the Ril’quao as it looks as though it has a Ril’quao robe on. With the existence of spring water in the region, the Ril’quaos had built a number of water wells in shrines across the region as well as near the monastery. The main well next to the monastery was the main source of water to kill out the fire when the northern wing of the monastery caught on fire.

Nowadays, these wells just serves as water sources and Nuh forbid, to kill of fires should there be any more arson accidents. There are also salt deposits in the region that attracts many tambang and other animals who benefit from the mineral deposit. Unlike most of the salt deposit across Fibod, these salt forms when the sea water is absorbed underground and feeds onto a small pond that usually forms around the costal area of the flower plain. It would flood the pond creating a salt water pond and during summer, it would dry out leaving a thick deposit of salt.

Over the course of the years, Ril’quaos had made it a habit to erect flower shrine in the flower plain. These shrines are built in a hole dug out from the hills on the plains. This shrine compliments the look of the ever-abundant flower plain. The largest shrine is located in northern Lorche where it is said to house all 400 (in estimation) species of flower all across the flower plains. It is also said that due to its high concentration of flower, it has seen an increase of suu’sumbu in the plains.

In the middle of the night whenever the Ril’quao would have a pilgrim up North, they would be welcomed with an array of suu’sumbu lighting up their path towards the shrine.

==Plants==

The maru flower is the most populous flower in the field. The Maru bush is as typical flower goes, stand up to a foot or so in height. The bright blue flower of the maru is easily distinguishable from the other flower more so with its large globe-like flower. Its scent seemingly attracting thousands of different sorts of insects including the tompu’ and godhu’ which in turn pollinate the flower. The maru has an oblanceolate-shaped leaf that seems to be the commonly shared leaf shape for most of the flower in the Lorchean plains.

The maru flower is commonly used for decoration and pressed for be used as tracing for the Ril’quao tailors who wish to sew the shape onto fabric and other linens. Another common flower in this field is the matin flower. This flower usually grows from a cluster of what looks to be typical grass on the field to the untrained eyes. They usually grow in clusters and in each cluster, typically 5 stems of flower would grow straight tall towards the sky. The matin flower would usually grow up to a couple of feet tall and is among the tallest of flower in the Lorchean plains.

It has a bright red-coloured and flatheaded flower. Up close the matin flower almost resemble the Boruti tree that grows in abundance in the Kingdom. Matins are usually dried out, pressed and crushed into dust before being made into red dye for paintworks and whatnot. One of the most unique flowers in the plains is the pop Flower. Pops have needle-like leaves. The bright yellow flower presents a trumpet-like petal flower that. Pops get their name from the nature of the flower to pop out spreading it seeds as it matures.

Young pop pods are airtight and as it matures, air will be compressed into the pods bit by bit. As it further matures, the pod lining will actually weaken before popping as if on cue each summer. Alchemists suggest that these pods are actually ‘glued’ by a certain type of natural glue secreted by the pod to stick the petals together only to be weaken by the rising temperature of summer. Ril’quaos would usually associate the start of spring when the first pop pops.

Rudvanum is a type of flowering herb that is used as ailment to treat multiple illness from stomachache, constipation to even headache. The pink plume-shaped petals of the flower is easily distinguishable from the rest of the flowers. Rudvanum are short flowers and is actually relatively hard to find since its short height of a quarter of a foot makes it easily hidden among the other tall flowers. Kalvorian kin’toni alchemists have been trying to use and incorporating rudvanum into their meals and medicine-making in hopes of reversing the kin’toni plague.

The Lorchean Flower plains is home to an estimate of a couple of thousands of different and unique flowers. A few other notable and rare flowers include the winter ros that exclusively grows in the winter and the rare poisonous bahk flower.

==Animals==

The Fibodian bu is relatively larger than the Emeusk bu. Unlike its western cousins, the Fibodian bu don’t dig burrows as deep. However, they are still known to be very generous in sharing their house with other animals. On average, the Fibodian bu is no longer than an armlength in length and half of an armlength, in height. It’s browning shell easily lets in camouflage itself among the soil as it takes its sweet time strolling ever so slowly – not that it should fear of any predator.

Its hard shell and the lack of predator in the plain is the perfect place for the bu to thrive. The bu mainly feeds on small fish and low-laying berries as well as bugs and worms it manages to find on ground. The quao fish is unique to the Lorchean Ponds. The Quao is believed to have been washed up from floods and had adapted their life in the ponds in the Lorchean plains. They have a unique ability to burrow themselves deeper into the mud and still be able to live when water is laying low during the peak of summer.

They mainly feed on water insects and live most of its life feeding and mating. Being small in size, their main predator is the bu and they usually resolve into fleeing when in danger – i.e when being hunted by bus. Panuk is a type of flightless bird that’s commonly found in Lorche. They have a brown and white feather and is generally fat. Their main diet of worms, bugs and berries are believed to contribute to their large size. They have huge beaks and sharp talons they use for both defend themselves and to burrow.

Panuk live in burrows they dig but unlike the bu are extremely territorial and would not be happy to share their hard-earned house easily with other. Ironically, they are always happy to nap around in bu burrows if they’re out hunting. Ril’quao had domesticated a number of panuk and is considered a delicacy among the Lorcheans. The Lorchean yellow piip is a close relative of the messenger piips. These Lorchean piips however are way smaller than their royal counterparts. They are so small that they have to compete with other insects to feed on flower nectar.

Lorchean yellow piips make their nest on tree branches with small twigs and dried leaves. Ril’quaos have observed that the Lorchean yellow piips use their spit to glue their nest. Lorchean suu’sumbu is a type of bug that’s very common in this plain. The suu’sumbu as its name suggest is a luminescent bug that lights up every night. This small bug is usually targeted by many birds as they are a main diet of many birds. In contrast, their main diet are the nectars of the Matins.

A fair share of the poil’kans also do live in the Lorchean plain as the Ril’quao are bound by obligation to protect them. These poil’kans are usually kept in the private ponds of the monastery for the purpose of study, protection and also to feed the turned kin’toni Lorcheans.
