==Geography ==
Lorach Flower Island spans around 8,430 square kilometers and sits about two hundred square kilometers from the western edge of the mainland. A thin stretch of land, about twenty feet wide, connects the two, allowing for foot travel. This bridge is the only way to get to the island besides swimming or by boat. During high tide, the bridge gets submerged in the water. There are three islets around the northern and eastern side of the island. They are all connected to each other and sit about about a mile away from the island, forming a slight C shape. The biggest only spans roughly two square kilometers in size, while the smallest is only about ten square feet.

They are unable to support any kind of plant life, so only sand and rocks cover them. Animals can be seen on them every once in a while, tearing apart their prey before the tide washes it away. Lorach is a tropical island with warm temperatures and sometimes humid air all year round. Instead of the typical seasons, the year is split between wet and dry seasons. Temperatures throughout both average between the seventies and the eighties. It doesn’t fall below the upper sixties and rarely goes past the low nineties. As the temperature doesn’t get low enough, snow doesn’t happen. But the island does get several feet of rain per year throughout the wet season. Storms occur often, but not enough to disrupt everyday living.

The really bad storms usually happen around the beginning of the wet season and they can sometimes last for several days. Parts of the island can get flooded and other parts become submerged. But thanks to the rain, there are natural pools of drinkable water all around the island. The settlement of the Ontan tribe sits towards the western part of the island, on the opposite side of the bridge, on a cliff overlooking the sea. This part of the island is raised up higher than the rest, stretching up nearly a hundred feet above the sea level. It is the highest part of the island and it allows the zu’aan to see everything on all sides, giving them the perfect defense advantage.

There is a cave system beneath the island that can be entered either from the sea, or from an above ground cave entrance in the stretch of forest covering about a third of the island. Though there is a mix of both land and sea animals on the island, seventy percent of them live in the sea and about ten percent are able to live in both. The soil of the island is fertile and able to support a wide range of plant life. The settling of zu’aan on the island over the decades has left some areas of plant life destroyed and unable to grow back. With this being said, at least ninety five percent of the island is rich in plant growth. There are dozens of different, thriving plant species all over.

== Plants ==

Despite it being an island, Lorach Flower Island supports a wide range and variety of plant life thanks to its fertile soil. The plants that grow here have a plethora of different uses: food, decoration, ceremonial, and medicinal. Every plant has been categorized by species and by what they can be used for. Caeru blooms once a year during the winter. They come in three different colors depending on where they grow: purple, blue, and green. The purple ones grow in the higher parts of the island, the blue ones grow around the middle, and the green ones grow close to the edges of the island. Their stretched, oval shaped petals can grow up to nearly two feet long and about four inches wide.

Around twenty petals can grow per flower. Its petals are edible and are often used as sugar substitutes due to their incredibly sweet taste. They’re usually dried and crushed into a fine powder that is then sprinkled into food and drinks. Their color determines how sweet they are. Green is the least sweet and purple is the sweetest. The blue ones are in between. Sachal is a leafy plant native to Lorach Flower Island. They can be found under the water near the edges of the island. Sachal can grow anywhere from three to six feet tall. Sometimes, depending on where they grow, they are able to peek out above the water. Their leaves, which are about three inches wide and incredibly thin, split off from a single stem into several dozen that grow in an upward spiral.

They come in a gradient of blue at the bottom and purple at the top. While rare, sometimes a white sachal can be found. Sachal is edible and has medicinal benefits. Not only are they healthy to just eat, they are also able to ease nausea and headaches. Thanks to them growing in the sea, they have a strong salty taste to them. The Ontan tribe usually wash them off and dry them out before eating. If they’re using them for nausea and headaches, they eat them raw to keep all of the benefits. Elled are small flowers that grow up to just over six inches tall. It has dozens of small, thick, yellow, crescent-shaped petals that grow on a bundle of thin stems that split off from one.

They can be found all over the island, in high and low places, throughout the entire year. Elled has an incredibly sweet scent and taste, with a syrupy substance within the petals. The Ontan tribe are obsessed with sweet things, so elled are a treasured resource. They use it in nearly all their food. They gather it up, let it harden, cut it up, and eat it just like that. They take those hardened pieces and use it to sweeten their water. Any way it can be prepared for consumption, they do it. They even eat the petals right off of the stem. They also use the syrup to soothe the throat.

== Animals ==

The animal population of Lorach Flower Island is a mix of sea and land dwellers, with over seventy percent of them being of the sea. Only about ten percent are able to survive both on land and in the sea. Most of the land animals are omnivores, with their diets leaning mainly towards fish and other aquatic species. Sellkee is a common, but large fish that can usually be found up and down the western coast of the mainland. They can grow up to almost five feet in length and can weigh over a hundred pounds. Their smooth scales are a deep blue color with speckled flecks of gold at their tips. They have two large side fins and a tail that has a wispy look to them. Even with two sets of small eyes, their vision isn’t that great.

They rely on sounds, smells, and vibrations to get around and to hunt their prey. Sellkee are carnivorous and are very aggressive. They’ve been known to take on not just other sea animals twice their size, but even zu’aan. Three rows of sharp teeth makes for tearing into skin, muscle, and bone quite easily. The sun bothers them a great deal, so they stay far beneath the surface of the sea during the day. At night, they swim close to the surface. Their scales take on a lighter color and actually let off a little glow. They mate for life and females will lay up to a hundred eggs in their short life spans. Ponodo is a large bird that is usually found flying around the coasts.

They aren’t native to any particular area or biome, but they prefer the temperate climates of the sea. They stand at a height of nearly six feet and have a wingspan of almost thirteen feet across. Small heads sit on long necks that make up about a foot of their height. Coarse, short, purple feathers cover their heads, necks, and the very tops of their bodies. The rest of their body is covered in long, light blue feathers. Flecks of silver can be found throughout all of their feathers, but mainly the ones on their heads. Their beaks are long enough for them to dip into the water to catch fish. Viye are small land mammals that have two legs and two arms, but they use all four when moving.

They have short, soft, black fur covering most of their body, leaving their underbelly and limbs a light gray color. They have one tail about six inches tall with small, silver spikes at the end. Black fur covers it as well. Their eyes are golden with vertical, black slitted pupils. Their ears are quite large and pointy. They are omnivores, but their diet leans more to plants. Their blunt teeth aid them in getting into nuts and pulling up tough plants. Viye usually stay away from the water, so they can be found within the forest. They make their homes at the base of the trees, digging dens within the dirt. They like to store food and anything shiny that they found in their dens.

While mostly timid, they are territorial and will attack quite viciously. They mate for life and females will usually have up to four young per mating.
