==History==

In the year 4E 103, during the Shattering, a merging of several different small clans in the process of going extinct took place. The merge between the Ryzrna, Zamazina, and Yazrano clans was made possible by the Yazrano clan's leader, one Rakeris Item, who approved of the merging as a result of the former three allied clans offering the merging of their clans as a simple suggestion; subsequently, as a result, the dying clans became the Latraestenth clan, and upon the direction of Item, the militias of the three clans and their respective populations fled from the war to seek refuge in an unclaimed region.

Known as the Pel'sun Bayou. From there, the merged clans managed to discover a region of trees and swamp area and named it Raenalioa after a clan-wide poll was conducted by Item and his new government. From there, the clan's population, which was close to 750 after the merging, saw a huge rise as the clan merged with defeated clans, and over the next fifty years the clan's population rose to more than two thousand; however, in the year 4E 112, Item fell ill due to a sudden and unexpected illness, at which point he was hospitalized in a nearby cave.

After a long period of illness and terminal disease, Item died in his sleep in the year 4E 112 as a result of his body no longer being able to combat his illness. A jousting tournament was led by the government, and the winner of this tournament would go on to lead the clan long-term. In the end, after several months of jousting, a kin'toni named Axonri D'ni would eventually win the tournament, claiming his place as leader of the Latraestenth clan. The Latraestenth clan saw a spike in their population, reaching nearly two thousand, nine hundred by the year 4E 154, but in a nearby region close to where they live a terrible volcanic eruption came about.

This forced many of the kin'toni in this clan to temporarily relocate elsewhere until the worst was over. It would take another fifty years until they would be able to return home, but by then they had been witness to subject discrimination from other clans. Currently, the Latraestenth clan's population sits at around five hundred, mainly as a direct result of the volcanic eruption that displaced them and a severe misjudgement by other clans at the time that caused most of the kin'toni in this clan to die painful deaths.

They still reside in their home region, but since the volcanic eruption that flooded their home many toxins have filled the air, and with a new Ice Age on the horizon, they may be forced to relocate once again. Most of the kin'toni in this clan have, surprisingly enough, been able to adapt to the toxins in the air and often resort to living underwater with other swamp animals or in caves, but they are not entirely immune to the toxins as some have been known to kill. Nonetheless, it is important to remember that the Latraestenth clan must not be underestimated.

==Psychology==

The Latraestenth clan aren't as dumb as they look. They think about everything and anything, and they always double-check on things that they're involved in to make sure that they're doing everything right. Individually speaking, though, a typical Latraestenth kin'toni has trouble keeping to himself as he always has a lot on his mind and can be seen talking to himself out loud. Latraestenth kin'toni likes to socialize with one another as they often consider themselves to be lonely and in need of companionship. They don't always get along like they should when socializing with one another.

But they always have a heart to heart talk with one another when they feel like they need it. Generally speaking, the typical Latraestenth kin'toni has a hard time living entirely alone. Individually the typical Latraestenth kin'toni desires a simple life, but considering the present situation with all the toxins in the air, it is hard for one to lead such a life in that order. It is hard for the Latraestenth kin'toni to do simple tasks at times because of the many toxins in the air serving as a legitimate distraction for him or her.

Another thing that is not considered is that they are only taking blood from animals when they need to, which is generally once every few days. The toxins in the air have also made the Latraestenth kin'toni less hungry and less active. Sometimes the typical Latraestenth kin'toni will resort to their underwater homes as a source of inspiration. Sometimes they can resort to drawing in the caves when they are bored, going as far as to make detailed drawings come alive on their underwater cavern walls, all while trying to find a way to curb the boredom.

A typical Latraestenth kin'toni also goes as far as to venture into the caves when one is bored, but no matter how far one venture he or she will always manage to find their way out. By doing those three things, kin'toni in this particular clan can always find a way to stay busy in a place where toxins have filled the air. And by doing these things, a Latraestenth kin'toni can always have something to do. The most interesting thing about a Latraestenth kin'toni, however, resides deep inside his or her cortex, deep inside the brain. When the cortex inside the brain doesn't send information.

To the brain's other regions, the other regions will send activity messages to the other organs in the body, essentially forcing the Latraestenth kin'toni to try and find a way to keep at it psychologically. And for the brain to continue to function, one would have to continue to do things to keep oneself busy. Some have been known to go mad as a result of not being able to do anything to keep busy, and as a result, those that have gone made have had to be put down or detained until they finally wore themselves out.

Another thing that one can consider about the Latraestenth clan is that they are not always the sharpest tools in the shed, especially as nearly twenty per cent of the clan suffers from some degree of mental retardation as well as an additional mental illness, which might include schizophrenia, AD/HD, Tourette's, or Autism Spectrum Disorder.

==Biology==

The Latraestenth are adapted to the muddy, humid, Pel'sun Bayou. They are sleek and somewhat flattened of build. This build is best for swimming and wading, but is slow and clumsy on dry, solid ground. They lack all hair. Their dark green and brown skin is thick and rubbery to reduce drag in water. This skin is highly dense with hydrophobic skin cells that prevent waterlogging and protect from parasite attachment in the still water. This skin is poor at dissipating heat. Due to this, they overheat rapidly if forced to exert energy out of water or shade.

The eyes are dull green in color, with an nictitating membrane that protects them underwater. This also means their sight is poorer outside of water. These eyes are optimized for detecting rapid movement in low-light, murky water. The ears are but two holes in the sides of the head as avoid drag in the water, The hearing is tuned to pick up low-frequency vibrations traveling through water and mud. This allows them to track movement in water. The nose is high-set and capable of sealing completely underwater. The teeth are small, tightly packed, and slightly curved inwards.

These teeth are for gouging and holding slippery, large prey. The teeth are not adapted for biting though the hide of larger, land based prey. The claws are short, wide and bunt, as they aid paddling under water. These claws are useless for climbing or piercing hard materials. The hands and feet are thickly wedded for underwater movement. The joints are adapted to lock and resist shearing forces when moving through thick mud or dragging heavy prey. The muscles are adapted for powerful, short-burst propulsion in water.

With this, they can as rapidly close the distance on aquatic prey. This muscle adaption means they have very low endurance for sustained running or swimming. They quickly become tired after quick powerful bursts. Inside is an internal system of hepatic 'cell clots' and white blood cells for filtering out and neutralizing the numerous pathogens and toxins in the water. Using this adaption, they can survive the naturally occurring swamp gases and mild toxins of the Bayou.

The blood vessels are adapted to have more capacity and a specialized fibrin structure to allow them to survive massive, non-fatal blood loss. The downside of this thickened blood is being prone to heart attacks and strokes. They have an specialized gland that produces a bio-luminescent oil that is used for communication in the dark bayou waters. This also can lead to them being easy to track by sight such as by rival kin'toni. They have totipotent stem cells adapted to tough, fibrous sheaths around major blood vessels and nerve bundles.

This protects them from physical and chemical damage. They also have an biological mechanism to neutralize the neurotoxins found in the venom of local lifeforms. This is done by rapidly breaking down the peptide chains in the venom. This needs them to stay fed to sustain this protection, if they do not feed, it does not work.

==Culture==

Latraestenth kin'toni is usually very creative in its approach in terms of hunting skills and sheer acrobatics. In addition to their not-so-extraordinary body structure, Latraestenth kin'toni can generally be considered graceful, skilful, useful, and innovative in their respective crafts. For example, they can sometimes spend a good deal of their time writing in stone with their chisels and blocks, going as far as to write poems in their languages, one of which is secret. And also, in addition to all of that, they don't necessarily think with an open mind, either.

In some of their poems, the flaws of their existence, as well as the existence of the zu'aan, can be pointed out, with no real insight or hinting on how to fix these mentioned flaws. In other words, a good deal of the Latraestenth clan's culture has to do with dealing with problems in ways that other clans don't consider to be standard, which means that the Latraestenth clan has an unusually interesting culture in more ways than one. Given that the Latraestenth clan has a unique personality in terms of culture they sometimes eat their food raw, and in some cases, they drink blood from their prey once every few days.

at which point that would be enough to sustain them for the time being. Sometimes they will cook their meat, but they don't cook their meat as often. Culinary arts is not their forte, but they try their best when it comes to cooking, and that alone counts as part of their culture. Another such aspect of the Latraestenth clan's unique and compelling culture has to do with their ability to draw simple outlines and make them look realistic on the cavern walls inside the caves in which they dwell. Most of the kin'toni in this clan don't invest or put a lot of effort into their artwork.

But those that do are considered to be the clan's finest artists and are grouped as such in a special wing of the clan known as the Superior Crafters, or, loosely translated to their language, the Umzarg'yn. Part of the reason why this minority of the clan has the best art in their region is that they are also skilled in a variety of other things, including music, artisan crafts, and woodwork. A final note of importance to consider about the Latraestenth clan's culture is that they casually wander around their swamp in search of something to do as it pertains to how important.

It is for most of them to stay as healthy as possible. Given that this clan still uses Stone Age technology they generally will use objects such as wood, stone and, in some cases, fabric to make their crafts. In other words, they normally use wood to make their weapons and other such architectural purposes, whereas for writing and chisel making they mainly use stone and for clothing they use fabric for their bodies to be fully clothed to their liking. One needs to have clothes, after all.

==Government==

This clan is a tribal government consisting of three elders who are supposedly the smartest and most determined in their clan; this three-elder council, known as the Triadary Oath, consists of the two strongest kin'toni in the clan, as well as its leader, who supposedly serves as the brains of the group and is responsible for making the primary decisions in terms of legislation. The Triadary Oath meets once every few days to discuss plans as they pertain to how the clan will survive the times that lie ahead. These meetings, often referred to by the Latraestenth clan as Xonads.

Are generally held either once or twice each week in a small cave that is said to serve as the primary headquarters of the Triadary Oath. For a law to become law, the smartest of the three elders will propose a piece of legislation to the two stronger elders in stone and allow them to express their opinions on it, which might take a few hours depending on the importance of said legislation. Then, an open forum will be conducted between the population to determine by majority rules if the law itself should become a law.

If the kin'toni participating in the study and forum decide by majority rule that they like the suggested piece of legislation, the legislation will be carried out and enforced by the Triadary Oath and their local tribes (there are said to be seven of them across this region, each of which is governed by a similar three-elder council). Each of the seven local tribes govern the clan on a local level, but they do this in almost the same way as the regional Oath governs the clan; for example, the two stronger kin'toni in the local Oath have an equal say in determining which legislations become law.

And have just as much power as the smartest kin'toni, which is regarded as the leader of each of the local Oaths. Laws are either carried out or struck down. With open forums and polls being conducted by the two other kin'toni in the local Oath. Like in the regional Oath, it is predominantly up to the kin'toni themselves to decide whether or not the suggested piece of legislation that was written in clay should become law. However, if the law is not passed, a large club will be used to break the suggested law's clear etchings into pieces or revised as suggested by the strongest.

In total eight of the caves that can be found in the region are occupied discreetly by the regional and local Oaths, respectively, and each of their meetings, which are usually once every couple of days or so, last about a few hours, predominantly because of discussion, deliberation, and suggestions. When the meetings take place, the smarter kin'toni of each local and regional Oath will enter their cave, with the stronger kin'toni putting a huge boulder in front of it. When the meetings end, the stronger kin'toni will push the rock out of the cave's entranceway.

And they will resume their normal activities outside of their respective governmental positions.

==Military==

The Latraestenth clan's military is referred to as the Braeanoa Caalaona, or, loosely translated, the Army of the Latraestenth Councils and roughly 50 to 60 per cent of the population of the Latraestenth clan are currently active in their clan's military, which is also led by the strongest kin'toni in the local and regional Oaths, seven of which are the generals of the Empire and one of which serves as the High Priest of the clan. There are no branches in this clan's military as each of the soldiers that serve in the Braeanoa Caalaona are treated equally with dignity, respect, and quite a bit of discipline.

kin'toni s can generally apply for the Caalaona as soon as a couple of days after they are initially turned. At which point they would be interviewed and greeted by the seven Generals. When a kin'toni initially applies to become a part of the Caalaona, they will be given a physical exam to determine whether or not they are capable of being a part of this military. After they are physically examined, they will then be interviewed by the seven generals, after which they will then be subject to a unique obstacle course made by the seven Generals and their High Priest, and if one can get through the obstacle course.

The applicant will then be initiated into the Caalaona as a soldier, at which point the soldier will then be able to participate in various exercises with the rest of the military. From there the soldier will be taught everything they need to know, from learning how to make and maintain weapons and armour to military tactics. A soldier in this clan's military can also rise the ranks based on their mastery of certain different tasks, such as hunting and skinning an animal, making weapons and armour, and their knowledge of military tactics.

After several centuries a soldier can choose to retire from the Caalaona and become a veteran of the Empire, but only if they've mastered all or most of the things they were taught to learn Because of this, it is also possible for a soldier to return to the military if they so desire. If they were discharged for something they were wrongfully convicted of. They can make their case to their local Oath, and the smarter kin'toni in that local council will decide whether or not their conviction was credible. If it is proven that they were wrongly discharged, they will then get a second opportunity to participate.

If one fails to complete the obstacle course in a given or set amount of time, they will not be allowed to tackle the obstacle course again for another ten years. If, after ten years, they finally do complete the obstacle course in the amount of time allotted, they will finally get their initiation into the Caalaona, at which point they would get the same privilege of learning how to hunt and do other things, However, if it is proven that a soldier has been committing a terrible wrong, the soldier must then venture on a journey to perform a series of deeds for their High Priest.

To his or her satisfaction, after which they may be allowed to return to the clan's military.

==Religion==

A typical Latraestenth kin'toni is normally not as religious as a kin'toni from another clan, but that is mainly because the majority of the clan's population is agnostic and prefers to hunt and make crafts instead. A minority of the clan, however, choose Naal as their main source of religion. Naal, according to several kin'toni, is a religion that pays tribute to the forefathers of the Vampyrian race, specifically their descendants, who are said to have been deities in a past life. Some of the kin'toni'ati race have debated this particular religion, with some claiming that Naal's believers.

Believe in a God that never really existed. According to kin'toni, Naal is based on the belief that one should spend their nights joyfully and their days resting. The reason why this religion is so important to the minority of this clan is that, according to some of them, they desperately need something to believe in, especially when it comes to things that they so desperately care about. Basic common practices related to Naal involve the sacrifice of certain animal parts in the name of a mythical Naalian god named Zeerux, who was known for having four arms and a supreme gift.

In many skills such as hunting, archery, woodwork, stone architecture, and artisan crafts. According to Naalists within the Latraestenth clan, Zeerux supposedly created a wall between the Pel'sun Bayou and another neighbouring region to keep his arch-nemesis away. It is generally suggested by Naalists within the Latraestenth and other clans that many attempts were made by the demon king Osiric to destroy the wall and everything neighbouring it, but through great faith and persistent protection, Zeerux managed to keep the wall intact, and it is also said that Zeerux still protects this wall to this very day.

As a spirit sent to purgatory to protect his homeland. The minority of the Latraestenth clan will normally gather together once every couple of weeks to participate in a mass and chant in honour of their god Zeerux, at which point they would gather together and hold a campfire and tell stories of their supposed encounters with Zeerux in their past lives. Perhaps the most intriguing reason why this particular group of Latraestenth kin'toni s hold these so-called "masses" every couple of weeks is that they wish to live for Zeerux and have a chance to do even a fraction.

Of all of the good deeds that Zeerux is thought to of made in his life as a deity. Generally speaking, it is important to note that the 20 per cent of the Latraestenth clan's total population that gathers together believes that their religious god Zeerux still exists as a spirit and is still protecting their homeland through perseverance and prosperity. Needless to say, although there aren't many Latraestenth kin'toni that are religious, those that believe in the existence of a spirit that watches over them.
