Geography
With the onset of the new ice age, the Lasika Lonely mountains are some of the most dangerous in Taerel. Their peaks are shielded by clouds and have a constant five feet of snow on them all year long. Just below the cloud-covered peaks are light brown rocks and sudden, steep cliffs. The base of the mountains are surrounded by the Var'ik Deciduous Forest Hills, a forest that took over the nearby hillside and has since grown massively. Dangers abound in every portion of these mountains and have a ripple effect on the areas below. Since the peaks are covered in snow all year long, there are constant avalanches in these mountains.

These avalanches cause rockslides to begin and race further down the mountain, destroying anything they come in contact with in their path. The thundering rockslides end up smashing, shattering, and ripping trees from the ground as they reach the base of the mountains. These trees range in size from young sprouts that are barely a foot tall to massive trees that are up to three feet around. The trees of the Var'ik Deciduous Forest Hills grow fast. Even after they have been ripped from the ground, many manage to take root again and continue to grow in a tangled mess, making foot travel through it extremely difficult but this messy forest is a safe haven for the small animals in the area.

As the snow on the peaks melts and refreezes during the hottest point of each day, it creates little streams of fresh water that make their way down the east side of the mountains, weaving around the rocks and through the tree-covered hills before gathering in Wutonsol Black Lake and slowly draining into the Thifcha Moss Swamp. Wutonsol Black Lake was formed when a portion of the land dropped in on itself. It has since managed to fill up from the runoff provided by the mountains. The melted snow has revealed little caves and created small pools of fresh water at some points in the rocky portion of the mountains, allowing life to exist here in the form of a few kin'toni clans and animals.

To the north of the Lasika Lonely mountains lies Waress Dry Field, a long since dead grasslands that extends for miles. Winds here can reach speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, causing massive dust storms that last for days and strip flesh from bone. Due east, one would find Wutonsol Black Lake and Thifcha Moss Swamp. Any winds coming through these lands collect the smell of rotting wood and stagnant water, giving the air a foul stench and heavy feel. To the south lies the Xashche White Orchard, so named due to the brilliant white tree trunks with beautifully carnivorous gold and blue blooms that are only found here, while to the west lies Xage'ves Iron Beach which gets its namesake from the black sand that turns a brilliant red as the tides warm and wash over the sand.

Plants
While there aren't many plants in the Lasika Lonely mountains, three can be found on either side of the mountains, located mainly in the rocky middle portion with two on the eastern half and one on the western half of the mountains. The creeping vine inches its way over the rocks responsible for the consistent and dangerous rockslides. Although it creeps over the rocks, this vine is covered in a slick yet sticky substance which allows the rocks to slip out with the slightest disturbance. In short, if the ground shakes the slightest bit from an avalanche, the rocks slip from under the vine and go thundering down the mountainside toward the trees.

The flowers of this vine are deceptively beautiful with their bright pink and dark purple blossoms and sweet scent. Each blossom has eight petals that form a square with two on each side, exposing the dark purple center that provides an ambrosial and fruity, yet sweet scent. All the flowers are located next to a small hole in the vine that the slick substance seems to drain into. The flower's scent is used to attract small insects to the vine, trapping them with its stickiness and sliding them down into the hole, allowing the vine to eat and gain the nutrients it needs to survive.

The other plant on the eastern side of the Lasika Lonely mountains is a small flower that grows to a maximum of five inches. The roots of this flower run deep and are the cause of its stark white petals and leaves. This flower thrives in total darkness, but requires copious amounts of water and plenty of space between them to survive. If two flowers sprout within four inches of each other, their root systems will fight for dominance and the loser will wither away within hours. The flowers only bloom during the two coldest months of the year and this is also when they reproduce.

The flowers open with such speed that the pollen is shot from the center of the blossom, filling the air in the cave with a white mist for up to one hour as the flowers change sex. As the mist settles back to the floor, the flowers are pollenated. When the flower dies at the end of the blooming period, a new flower replaces it. In the caves on the western side of the mountains, one can find an exceptionally small plant that only grows to a maximum of two inches in height. This flower blooms for three months of the year and has small, wedge-shaped leaves that are a bright red with five black petals.

These little flowers act as a carpet and cover the floor of the caves. If any are pulled or die, the flowers around the newly opened area are able to seed the open ground with clones of themselves. These flowers thrive in very dim light and require very little water to survive, obtaining all their nutrients from the cave floor.

Animals
Both of the animals in the Lasika Lonely mountains are small, flying, insect-like creatures. Both are food for the vine that creeps along the rocky terrain, but the smaller of the two is the more dangerous. The larger insect has two winged arms, two legs, and a long, agile tail. The total length of this insect is about six inches, but only two inches are comprised of its body. Its silky skin is usually a light grey but during breeding season, it grows a light fuzz that turns the creature a light green. This strange creature breeds every two years with multiple partners throughout its long lifespan.

Extremely docile, these creatures avoid conflicts the best they can, but will strangle an attacker with their tail if threatened. Their tail is very prehensile, allowing them the movement and flexibility needed to grab and constrict their attacker. This creature is herbivorous and enjoys nibbling on the petals and on the deep purple centers of the vine’s flowers, allowing the flowers of the vine to reproduce. Their two large eyes give them impressive eyesight in daylight, although at night they can only see movement.

Their ears are about one inch in length and filled with a soft fuzz all year long, giving them poor hearing, but they are able to communicate with each other through a range of high and low pitched clicks that allow them to avoid each other at night or locate a breeding partner during breeding season. Once this creature has bred, the males lay up to 50 eggs on the center of the first flower they visit. The second creature is considerably smaller, making it harder to see although it is more dangerous than the larger. This small insect-like creature is about a half of an inch in length, has two tentacles, two clawed arms, and a short and useless tail.

The tentacles have sensors all around them that detect which direction prey can be found in. They also attach to the prey and bring it closer to the clawed arms which are responsible for breaking the prey into smaller bite-sized pieces.Typically, this creature is a bright pink and waits for its prey to land near it before attacking, but during breeding season the males turn a brilliant gold while the females turn a light silver color. Their breeding season lasts for two months every year and they mate with a select group of partners for the entire season.

While not normally territorial, they become quite aggressive after laying their eggs in one nursery-like pool of water and the group will attack anything that comes near the pool. They have small, slanted eyes which provide use only during breeding season as the light bouncing off their colors allows them to find mates. They have two small ears and although their hearing is quite poor, they can hear the high pitched clicks of their prey at night which helps them locate the flowers so they can land and feed.
