==Geography==
Kaelaran sinkhole has an astounding diameter of 600 meters and is responsible for the drainage of at least 6 rivers of the region. The sinkhole is surrounded by the dense forest of Anri which lies in the plains surrounded by the rocky mountain range. The climate in this place was mostly pleasant with occasional rains and small quantities of snow every year but ever since the Shattering the forest has been covered with thick snow and the greenery is almost lost. The Kaelaran sinkhole has preserved its state due to natural insulation from the structure of the pit and the rocks surrounding it.

The rivers draining into it have frozen on the top but thin streams of water seep in below the thick layer of ice. The great pit appears as a strange green dot in the middle of a white paper. The kin'toni here wears the fur of the Great Hukab which survived the great Shatting by adapting to the chilling weather. The white color of the fur helps them vanish into the snow around. The forest around has roughly 10 million trees. The canopy of the forest is covered with thick white snow.

These are the hunting ground for a peculiar monkey like creatures of Taerel knows as Zevils. Zevils have long limbs and teeth lined with fangs which form a deadly grip on the prey. The rivers draining into the sinkhole have frozen on the top and provide sledge path for travelling kin'toni who travel in and out of Kaelaran. They use the tamed Kaelarian dog like creatures to pull their sledges. These frozen river roads are referred to as Dhaks by the kin'toni living in the kaelaran. Dhaks are very important routes for kin'toni as they are the only way for them to access one of the most medically valuable places for them. Dhaks look like thin branches protruding out of the great sinkhole.

The water that flows under the thick layer of ice does not support any life form but is drinkable. The water falling into the great pit through hidden ice channels forms brilliant ice structures on the opening of the hole. The insulated insides do not form any ice structure and the water collects in the pit below. This pit supports a number of aquatic life forms. Brilliantly sparkling fishes and brightly colored aquatic weeds enrich the scenic Kaelaran pit. The walls near the water is lined with blue green bioluminescent algae which glows during the night adding to the astounding beauty of the Sinkhole.

Overall, it can be said that the sinkhole is a large pit surrounded by dense woody forest covered by snow. The forest in turn is surrounded by large rocky mountains whose ice caps when exposed to the direct sun send down small stream of water through the seven rivers of Kaelaran. These mountains provide a natural defence to the residing kin'toni clan from the enemy clans and notorious zu'aan looking for an opportunity. The mountains have 30 kin'toni outposts which are used by them to guard their checkpoints.

==Plants==

Kaelaran is rich in both flora and fauna. The plants outside the great pit have evolved to counter the Shattering that had engulfed that planet for fifty years. The trees in the surrounding jungle have their canopies covered with snow which provides a warmer insulating cover to the ecosystem under. The ecosystem under these trees includes a wide range of plants which include creepers, climbers, and herbs that have evolved to counter the cold weather inside.

'''Kursai grass''': The forest ground is lined with a thick layer of greenish-brown grass that stands up to 3 feet tall. This grass houses small rodent-like creatures and keeps the ground below moist and warm. These grasses are the primary food of the Kaelaran hopping deer.

'''Tirga''': These are 4–5 feet tall herbs that bear dark red fruits that are sweet and sour. Before the Shattering, zu'aan collected their fruits and made them into various edible items. These fruits could be used both fresh and dried up. Brave zu'aan wander through the dark woods of this forest collecting these fruits which are of extreme nutritious value.

'''Psa Shroom''': These are bright yellow mushrooms that grow on the bark of Kurnai trees and have green dots on the top. These mushrooms are slightly poisonous and are known to have tranquilizing properties. zu'aan used them to flavor their liquor. Psa is also used by the kin'toni to decorate their houses.

'''Kurnai trees''': Kurnai trees are the most dominant trees in the area. These trees can grow up to 30 meters and have thick bushy leaves on the top. The leaves catch the falling snow and form a thick top layer over the forest. These trees are essential for the ecosystem of the forest.

'''Kohlars''' Kohlars are the bright green grasses that grow in the Kaelaran pit. These are found all over the internal walls of the pit and are used by small bugs and insects as a hiding spot.

'''Lorigi''' Lorigi plant is a herb that holds great medicinal value for kin'toni but is extremely poisonous to zu'aan. It is rumored that the virologist of Taerel used these plants to create the stabilizing serum for the virus that caused the outbreak. Lorigi is a 3-foot tall plant with brownish-yellow leaves and bright red stems with yellow dots. These are usually found growing at the bottom of the sinkhole in the lining of the water in the pit below. Brave kin'toni dive into the sinkhole to fetch these medicinal plants which have a great value. The inhabitant clan trades these plants to other clans in exchange for other valuables and arms.

'''Kiptas''' These are small climbers that cover most of the insides of the Kaelaran pit. These climbers have small hooks on their stem that latches to the wall of the sinkhole. These are generally several meters long but some can grow over to ten meters. Their leaves are 8 inches wide and are greenish-yellow. Small hair-like structures are present on the upper parts of the leaves that catch the dew falling from above since the walls are mostly devoid of water.

==Animals==

Animals in Kaelaran are broadly divided into two categories based on whether they live inside or outside the Kaelaran Sinkhole. Once that live outside has large legs and is capable of running in long grasses. Some monkey-like animals have evolved to use the Kurnai as both their homes and safe spaces. Animals in the sinkhole are less agile but have different mechanisms to keep sticking to the wall of the sinkhole. The water in the pit below is home to several aquatic animals involving fishes and amphibians whose entire life revolves inside the pit. They have no clue of the outside world or the thick unforgiving ice that encapsulates the grand world of Taerel.

'''''Forest Life'''''

'''Kyrdarian''': These are mystical wolve-like beings of the forest that are supposed to be behind the suspicious disappearances in the forest. Not one soul on Taerel has seen one and lived to tell others about how it looks. The forest sometimes resonates with the loud howling which is believed to be of the kyrdarian. Many brave kin'toni and zu'aan warriors have fallen prey to this mysterious being that hides behind the darkness of the scary woods of Kaelaran.

'''Hooded Kaltoras''': These are small chimp-like creatures that live on the Kurnai trees and can glide to short distances between two trees by jumping and extending the skin under their arms to form a bat-like wing. They can not fly but only glide between trees. They feed on the tree sap that oozes out from the kurnai trees. In turn they keep the harmful bugs away from the trees making it a symbiotic process. Their young are sometimes seen playing on the white canopy of the forest making sharp squeaks and furious movements. Their fur is white with grey stripes. They have large eyes and a small snouty nose that keeps moving continuously. Their only known predators are the hubrijis that are descendants of the eagle-like creatures that once dominated the skies of Taerel.

'''Hutara''': These are feathered birds of the forest that do not fly in the open air. They have brown feathers with red tips and have adapted perfectly to fly and hunt in the rumbled maze of Kurnai. Their tails are larger than their bodies to accommodate fast movements while in the air. They have two sharp claws with which they catch their prey. They form nests by weaving the blades of the kursai grass on the topmost branches of the Kurnai trees. They have sharp beaks that can tear flesh easily. Their nests are often lined with bioluminescent algae that glow during the night to keep the egg eater jerra away.

'''Jerra''' These are small snake-like rodents that have developed small feet with a single claw to get a grip on the slippery Kurnai trees. They are not poisonous and their primary source of nutrition is the young of Hutara. these creatures prefer dark and dry places and are often scared of the light. They do not have eyes and rely on their sense of echolocation and smell to get an understanding of the surrounding. On being attacked they leave the grip on the bark of kurnai and roll into a ball that drops to the ground. They have hard outer shells and a mouth lined with a thousand teeth.

'''Kyrdan''': These are believed to be the closest relatives of the kyrdarian that have learned and evolved to live in harmony with the kin'toni. They help the kin'toni in hunting and warn them of any potential danger by changing the color of their skin. They are primarily brown in color but change their color according to their mood. Yellow means happy, green means hunting, red means potential danger incoming, and white means surrender. These creatures have mastered the art of living with the kin'toni and the Kaelaran kin'toni have at least one pet kyrdan with them at all times.

'''''Sinkhole Life'''''

'''Ru'bugs''': These are the bugs that live in tiny burrows on the limestone walls of the sinkhole. Their primary source of nutrition is the algae that grow at the bottom of the pit. They have tiny legs lined with hairs and 4 wings that hide beneath their bright purple-black skin. They can be often seen flying inside the sinkhole which provides them with all their requirements.

'''Gyters''': These are small rodents that also live in small burrows on the Sinkhole wall and feed on the Ru'bugs. They have no teeth and just a tongue that is twice the size of their bodies. They also have hook-like structures at the bottom of their hands and feet that keeps them sticking to the wall of the pit. On the sign of danger their fur changes to bright red to warn off predators.

'''Lhigi''': These are the fishes living in the deep waters of the sinkhole. They often migrate to and from the sea through the underground water channels of Kaelaran. They have no natural predators and thrive abundantly in the pit. They have bright golden skin eyes on the bottom of their head. Their source of nutrition is the plankton that thrives in the pit. They don't have any teeth instead they have a sieve-like structure that closes and opens frequently and traps the plankton inside their mouths.

There are countless other small animals living in and out of the Sinkhole that contributes to the weird but wonderful ecosystem of the Scenic pit of Kaelaran.
