==Geography ==

Iaev Berry Fields is a mostly flat region near central Taerel. The region is mostly covered in lush forests and well-tended berry fields. There is only one settlement in the region which was founded by the local Xina’er kin’toni clan. The Laputien Caverns is the home of this now illustrious clan and allows them to live safely during the daylight hours. There are three entrances into the caverns although only the first is really used. The main entrance leads to the surface just beyond the largest berry field in Iaev. This entrance is reinforced with an iron gate that is locked tight at daytime.

There are now some air tunnels that have been made into the caverns, but all are covered by grates to not allow any sunlight in the caverns below. The caverns have enough room to sleep the entire clan, as well as host an elegant council meeting chamber. The caverns also contain the religious areas needed for members of the clan to worship. The Iaev Caverns had different coloured sections, each designed for a certain type of clan member. Each clan member would pick a colour they thought represented them best. They would wear this colour and centre their lives around it.

The berries farmed in the region provided dyes so the builders could colour sections of the caverns. The members of each colour lived mostly in their allocated colour section. Visiting other colour sections was not seen as bad, but generally kin’toni liked people with their same colour more. The council chamber is the only room that is not coloured. This is representing the fact that the council is unbiased and unprejudiced. Iaev is full of many large rivers that come from the mountains and springs of nearby regions. The largest river of them all is the River Kil.

The River Kil is also the most popular for the local Xina’er kin’toni members to swim in. The river is not particularly deep but becomes very wide at certain points. The river runs the western border of Iaev all the way to north-eastern one. Its banks are lined with many unique species of berry plants, some that are only able to grow on its banks. The second largest river is the Kumagen. The Kumagen runs from the northern border and is considerably colder than the River Kil. This river disappears underground in the centre of the region, but its location beneath the surface has been discovered.

It now provides water during the daylight hours to the kin’toni living in the Laputien Caverns. A tunnel leading to the underground Kumagen was discovered in the early days of the Xina’en colonisation. There are two main berry farming regions in Iaev. These are Katano and Kytoa, and they cover vast amounts of land in the region. The Katano is centred around the Laputien Caverns and is the largest of the two regions as it is nearest to the Xina’en base. This region specialises in the colourful berries that the clan members use to colour themselves as well as eat. Kytoa is primarily used to grow the berries that need less kin’toni interference. These plants are usually hardier or can only grow in certain locations.

== Plants ==

Iaev Berry Fields is most well known for its wide variety of berry plants. Here they grow in many different sizes, shapes, and colours. Some of the berry plants can only grow in certain locations whilst some can grow anywhere, they are planted no matter the conditions. The local Xina’en kin’toni clan has practiced growing methods for years and are very skilled at them. This allows for the plants to grow faster and their population to increase in massive waves.

'''Chathkon'''

Chathkon are the most common berry plant in Iaev Berry Fields. These plants are native and unique to the region. The are also the symbolic dish of Iaev as these berries taste brilliant and come in every colour imaginable. The plants themselves are not particularly large, the largest standing only around two metres tall. Their trunks are light green and hard, as well as their branches. The chathkon grow different coloured leaves depending on the colour of berries they produce. A plant that grows red berries for example, will have red leaves.

The plants are able grow almost anywhere and are very easy to grow. They populate most of the Katano region of Iaev as they are the clan favourite. The Xina’en clan believe that they are vital to their colour centralised culture. Each berry colour is eaten and used by the members who correspond with that particular colour.

'''Kimlae Berries'''

Kimlae Berries are a species of berry tree that grow in the Katano region of Iaev Berry Fields. These trees can grow to heights of up to twenty metres tall, and tower above everything else around them. Their berries are oval shaped and purple coloured. The best ones can be found usually at the top of the tree, meaning that any pickers will have to brave the climb. Climbing the Kimlae trees can be dangerous as their branches are very thin and will break easily under pressure. The most experienced climbers learn to spread their weight amongst multiple branches.

Kimlae trunks are dark brown in contrast to their bright yellow leaves. The berries can easily be spotted amongst the leaves and the Xina’en climbers can scout out trees to see if the climb will be worth it.

'''Kalal Trees'''

Kalal Trees are a species of berry tree that grow in the Kytoa region of Iaev. These trees only grow along the banks of the rivers in the region and require a warmer climate. Their berries are grey and shaped like water droplets. The berries grow in large bunches of ten to twelve berries. The trees themselves often curve over the rivers and many of the local kin’toni have nicknamed them ‘hunchback trees’. Their trunks are thin and flexible, often blowing in the breeze. The plants are entirely coloured green besides their berries. Their berries have a healing effect on infected wounds which has been very useful for the locak Xina’en kin’toni clan over the years.

These trees are very precious to them now as they can heal any wounds from flashes of sunlight.

== Animals ==
There is plenty of native and unique forms of wildlife contained with Iaev Berry Fields. The creatures that live here are accepted as friends by the local Xina’en kin’toni as they don’t need animal blood to sustain themselves. There is plenty of water and plants for the animals to feed off, and little natural predators. This allows for wildlife to thrive peacefully in the region, and populations to skyrocket.

'''Ajimaji'''

Ajimaji are species of bird that is native and unique to Iaev Berry Fields. These birds feed predominantly on the many forms of berries that can be found in the region. They have short, fat beaks that are designed to prise berries away from the tree they grew on. The ajimaji generally grow to around the size of a kin’toni fist. Their feathers are very colourful and change depending on which colour berries are consumed by each individual bird. They can fly, but not very well and often prefer to walk around on the ground. The local Xina’er kin’toni clan like to have ajimaji as pets and feed them a certain colour berry so each bird can stay a certain colour.

The birds are then assigned to each colour section of the Laputien Caverns.

'''Kaitomo'''

Kaitomo are a species of flying insect that are native and unique to Iaev Berry Fields. These insects are long and fat with brown bodies. Their wings are a shade of red, and their large oval eyes are coloured green. These insects are the main pollinators of the region. They collect the nectar from different berry plants in order to eat. In doing so they also transfer pollen between berry plants allowing for them to breed. Kaitomo live in hives made in higher branches of berry trees, most commonly in Kimlae Berry Trees. These hives are constructed from mud and leaves collected from the rivers that run throughout the region.

Each hive is home to around one hundred kaitomo and one queen. The queens are generally larger than normal kaitomo and have the ability to give birth to multiple young at once. The queens allow for the kaitmomo population to grow incredibly fast.

'''Quarnos'''

Quarnos are species of domesticated mammal that is native and unique to Iaev Berry Fields. These animals are reptiles and their bodies are covered entirely in blue scales. They need to bathe in the sun for hours before they are able to move around properly. This makes them perfect pets as they become most active at night once they have absorbed enough sunlight. They have long jaws lined with short but sharp teeth. They do not hurt kin’toni and use their teeth to hunt for fish in the rivers spread throughout the region. These lizards can also swim very quickly using their thick tails to propel them. Most of the quarnos in Iaev live as pets for the loca’ Xina’en kin’toni clan.

They are quite intelligent and prefer to side with the kin’toni so they can live an easier life. Their owners often catch fish for them so they don’t even have to get wet.
