==History==

The Ewther kin'toni Clan was once known as the Yrdnaal kin'toni clan who had lived in the Inland Sea region since 4E 50. In the year 4E 27, the Abau clan drove them out of their land. In 4E 35 Clist Rodild rose to power and tried to bring the Abau clan under his command. This civil war lasted two years, from 4E 35 to 4E 37. This was a war stalled by cold winds and lack of food in the north, along with Vytheri clan raiders from the northern Shauren Iceplains. The war was bloody, one of the most bloody for its time, and both clans took great losses. In the spring of the year 4E 37, two years into the war, Clist Rodild realized that the Abau Clan were susceptible to a naval attack.

In the summer of 4E 37, there was the battle of Njir-lanp, this battle was a big victory for the Ewther kin'toni Clan. The war ended officially in early 4E 38, and Clist Rodild's proclaimed himself as the official ruler of the Ewther Clan, and the Sea of Ghosts. Rodild eventually formed a council, with each of the other survivors being appointed to various positions, including religious advisor, high priest, military leader, sectoral governor, vice-leader, and several other positions, and thus this particular council format remained unchanged throughout the clan's chronology.

This is with various successors taking the reigns of leadership through the clan's history; however, over the next nine years leading up to their involvement in the Shattering, Rodild led his clan efficiently and effectively, often demanding the best out of his loyal subjects; thus, in the months leading up to his death a rival clan in the [[Falyir Kin'toni Clan]] he became ill and eventually appointed a successor to his clan's leadership position. In the year 4E 131 his new successor, Grawnaar Karien, discovered that the Kana clan had been planning to attack.

And take over the Ewther clan's region and immediately prepared his clan for war against the now gone Kana clan. This battle caused many casualties on both sides as the bloodshed was high and the fighting was fierce; however, the Ewther clan eventually prevailed, forcing the Kana clan out of their region before any further casualties could be enforced, with thanks in part to the Tiess clan, who eventually aligned with the Ewther clan after the leaders of both clans agreed to side with one another in times of war. Today, after many unseemly and somewhat unfortunate happenings.

The Ewther clan currently has a population of around four hundred and fifty. It is not yet known why the Tiess clan decided to side with them, but the Ewther clan remain predominantly optimistic for their future, even in the wake of an upcoming and forthcoming Ice Age; however, tensions have now become high within this region, as many kin'toni within the clan also have doubts of being able to maintain their alliances with other clans. Given that, the Ewther clan may have to go to great lengths to save themselves from seemingly inevitable extinction.

==Psychology==

They are unnerving to be around, speaking with an air most unnatural and a creepy detachment from the world around them. Impossible to know truly, an Ewther kin'toni is a planner, but he never lets others know that things have gone just as the Ewther kin'toni has planned it. Ewther kin'toni prefers to work in the background, and let the world work for them. It also comes as no surprise that despite a typical Ewther kin'toni's optimism for a bright future he or she is often quite hard on oneself, which may also explain their self-discipline techniques, which may involve such instances in which they brand themselves with iron.

Although this branding of iron is embedded into one's skin it is also not uncommon to discover that a typical Ewther kin'toni's iron brandings are, in most or all of these cases, permanent. What is also not uncommon is their desire to one day move to a region with enough space to expand their population to the tens of thousands, although it is generally suggested that because of the shortage in zu'aan and kin'toni populations these desires are often unrealistic and display signs of delusion and grandiose exaggeration. Many of these Ewther kin'toni tend to believe that, as they believe that there is something better.

This is for them moving forward despite the forthcoming Ice Age (oh, what a rude awakening they're in for when it happens). Many of them have these dreams. As a result of these unrealistic dreams, they could be considered borderline immature in some cases, sometimes borderline insane, which is why they keep to themselves most of the time. Strangely enough, Ewther kin'toni believes in an age-old theory in which if you work hard and find the power from within to achieve while keeping things under wraps, then you can go quite far if you're determined enough to reach your goal, and because of that, an Ewther kin'toni's standards are pretty high.

What is most interesting about the typical Ewther kin'toni and its psychology is that despite being able to live on both land and sea they are also very diligent in terms of brain activity, so sometimes when they talk they can sometimes rant for as long as an hour, sometimes longer. They are also very decisive about a variety of things in terms of how they wish to carry out their objectives, so they invented a unique language called Pergeng, which is also a language entirely made through varieties of clicks, hisses and screeches. The big secret about this language is that this language is spoken almost entirely in private.

==Biology==

The Ewther are adapted to the dark, cold, deep [[Inland Sea of Gha'rar]]. They are dense, and torpedo shaped of build, with an powerful tail-like pelvis and thick torso. This adaption is for power for underwater propulsion. Due to this, their movement on land is slow and clumsy and they are too heavy to climb. The skin is thick, rubbery and in shades of dark blue and grey, with counter-shading. The skin is covered in a layer of specialized dermal cells that produce an anti-freeze glycoprotein.

This allows them withstand near-freezing deep-sea temperatures without cell damage. The downside of this is a lessened sense of touch. The hair and skin is hairless, besides for specialized, stiff sensory vibrissae (whiskers) along their jawline and forearms. These are for detecting small changes in water current and pressure that nearby prey causes. The downside of this is that they can be vulnerable to disorientation in turbulent water. The eyes are large and nearly spherical, with an pressure-stabilized cornea and a reflective tapetum lucidum.

This allows them to have great vision in the permanent pitch blackness of the deep water, but are very sensitive to light, and can be blinded even low surface light conditions. They lack outer eyes, and the auditory canals are almost completely closed. The auditory canals are protected by an dense bony ridge to protect from high water pressure during deep dive. The downside of this is that it significantly dulls their hearing range in air and land. They lack an outer nose, having just two holes that can be closed with muscle shields.

They also have specialized, highly efficient dermal gills on their necks, chests and underarms, to extract trace oxygen directly from the water. This allows them to breathe well underwater. The downside is that the gills are an weak point in combat. The teeth are small, identical and peg-like, adapted for grasping and holding slippery, scaled prey such as fish. These teeth are bad for tearing thick flesh or penetrating tough hides on large prey. The hands and feet are thicky webbed, extending between short fingers and toes.

These are adapted for being paddles or swimming, not for grasping small objects or climbing. The bones are very calcified and exceptionally dense as to aid deep diving. It also limits jumping height and overall agility outside of water. Inside, they have an n internal, non-gaseous lipid organ with the ability to rapidly adjust its oil content to fine-tune their neutral buoyancy at varying depths. They also have glands that release a viscous, protective mucous when stressed or injured. This acts as an well to seal wounds and deter predators.

The spinal column is exceptionally flexible for power side to side movements for swimming. They have metabolisms adapted to function efficiently at low oxygen and high pressure. This allows them to remain active deep underwater for extended periods. Given that they are adapted for the deep sea, their metabolisms function badly on surface pressures and oxidation levels. They are adapted to process the nutrients of deep-sea marine life, but they are incapable of efficiently processing the blood of land-dwelling mammals.

==Culture==

The history of the Ewther clan's culture dates back to just after the Shattering when there was a sudden and unexpected renaissance within the clan as far as talents are concerned. After the end of the Shattering, most of the kin'toni in this clan turned to art to find solace in the ever-changing world in which they reside. It is assumed that most of these kinds of art, which included music, sculptures out of stone and even cave paintings, are still an omnipresent force within the Ewther clan today as some of the kin'toni will generally meet underwater for a strange ritual.

In which they pray to their religious deity of the ocean, a deity of the name Farazan, who was supposedly born as an idea from the Ewther clan founder and his series of literary works about popular mythology in the clan. Another key cornerstone and popular mainstay of the Ewther kin'toni clan's culture involve their ability to cook various kinds of fruit over a campfire. During the early hours of the night, the typical group of Ewther kin'toni will normally scavenge their region to find various fruit on trees scattered around the region. During the early hours of the night the typical group of Ewther kin'toni.

Will normally scavenge their region to find various fruit on trees scattered around the region. Even though most of the fruit that they cook and consume every week are also poisonous for most other clans. Even so, some of the fruits that they digest can take up to three hours for their bodies to fully digest, so a common practice among these kin'toni is to not eat too much and eat in moderation. The Ewther kin'toni, are very talented cross-platform artists who can make and play their instruments. Most of these instruments in which they make are often referred to as falling.

Under the percussion category, and the mallets and drumsticks in which these Ewther kin'toni make are made from a specific kind of stone that can only be found at the bottom of the sea. These instruments are also playable and easy to figure out for this Ewther kin'toni, as they have spent many years and centuries perfecting their ability to play such aforementioned instruments and finally, the Ewther kin'toni are able very talented painters and are also one of the few clans in existence currently to paint using their mouths, not just their hands and feet like most other clans.

==Government==

The Ewther Council, what is the group ruling the clan, consists of a wide variety of entities from within the region in which the Ewther kin'toni reside; they consist of a group of four military leaders who lead each sector of the region and have a military base located in one of the caves in each of the four local sectors, as well as a group of four local governors who are responsible for governing their local sector, a religious advisor to the clan, a high priest which is responsible for being the clan's religious leader and upholds the clan's primary religious beliefs.

A Vice Leader of the clan who oversees the cabinet's activities and a Supreme Leader who is responsible for determining the fate of all legislative and executive actions, as well as the enforcement of said actions. How the government of the Ewther clan operates is fairly simple. Every couple of days the Ewther Council gathers together and ventures deep into a small cave to discuss legislations and future executive actions. As mentioned before, the Supreme Leader is responsible for determining the fate of a certain law that is proposed by one of the cabinet members, at which point he can either veto the law as it is.

And suggest that the suggested law be revised to the population's liking or he can add several revisions of his own to the mentioned law and then host an open forum among his cabinet members to determine whether or not the law should be passed. If a suggested law is not passed by either any of the other members of the cabinet beside the proposer of the mentioned law the law is essentially considered dead and they will attempt to come up with another such law. There are no term limits for any of the members of the Ewther Council, so a member can keep his position in the said cabinet until either.

One, he or she can no longer be able to serve on the council as a result of certain other obligations or a sudden illness, and; two, he or she is accused, tried and convicted of a crime against their clan, at which point they are essentially banned from being a part of the council for life. In the event of a vacant position within the council, the Supreme Leader of the council will host a swimming tournament amongst the population of the clan to determine who is capable and determined enough to serve as a member of the cabinet and govern the clan and at this point anyone with at least one thousand years.

Of military or religious experience, dan choose to sign up for the said tournament. The winner of the said tournament will be declared a member of the council and initiated effective immediately, but the losers will still be able to reside in their local sector within their region, depending on which sector they reside in. The Ewther Council meets every three years with the leaders of the Tiess clan's government to discuss current and ongoing issues, as well as their alliances and rivalries with other various clans in their bordering regions. These meetings are generally held privately, particularly on a sunken ship.

And they go smoothly, for the most part; given that, the leaders of both the Ewther and Tiess clan can agree on at least one different topic and they eventually salute each other as their tri-annual meeting comes to an end.

==Military==

Four military leaders govern the Ewther kin'toni clan's military, and each of them has responsibilities for leading each of their respective local sectors' militaries and the clan's military as a whole. The leader of the clan, however, is the one with the ultimate responsibility of leading both the clan and its military, and he has to answer the questions that the leaders of each local military sector ask him. That being said, all commands are directed by the Supreme Leader and enforced by the military leaders of the four respective local military sectors.

In times of preparation, the Ewther clan's military sectors are like a group possessed, and as they train frequently and exercise habitually they gain strength, with each soldier being given a certain important task of which he or she will have an equal opportunity to lead or front. The designated leader of said military tasks is given temporary control of their sector's military while the military leaders of each branch meet and deliberate deep in a small cave not far from their base to determine the next course of action in times of potential warfare.

Once they return, the temporary leader will then be remotely treated as a regular soldier, thus getting a break from the extra responsibilities provided to them. Anyone that is a member of the Ewther clan is automatically instated into the Ewther Military sector of which they reside upon becoming fully transformed. Such a kin'toni is given unique responsibilities during his or her instatement process, with strict enforcement and high standards that must be met with a lot of determination, a good amount of willpower and a drive to someday take part in becoming a part of the upper echelon of the Ewther clan.

The longer that one is a part of the Ewther Military, the more opportunities one is guaranteed to prove to oneself and his or her fellow soldiers that he or she is indeed capable of leading the charge. kin'toni in this particular military system know all too well that self-discipline is the best medicine, for when groups of kin'toni soldiers gather together to hunt for food for a weekly feast of meat they all are given equal and most responsible goals to capture animals and cook their meat by a certain time. And, as an additional bonus, the kin'toni that captures the most animals get a reward.

They will be given an additional responsibility: this responsibility, of course, is one in which they lead the entire group of soldiers in a moment of prayer, at which point the food is then blessed by the military leader of that particular sector and everyone eats their meals.

==Religion==

There is a religious advisor and a high priest for this clan's government, but their roles in keeping the faith together and maintaining a high level of spirituality are often overlooked and not as considered as one would expect. The religious advisor of the Ewther Council is often responsible for arranging and enforcing twice-monthly masses in a large undersea cavern known as the Claxzqago, where it is believed that all of the Ewther kin'toni gather to praise their religious gods, which are essentially the sea (and the animals that dwell in it).

Their amphibian ancestors, and the beauty of water. In addition to these masses, there is a primary leader and sermon giver of said masses, and that leader is the high priest of the Ewther clan's Council. The high priest is often suggested to be present at almost every mass (except for when he is in a meeting with the Ewther Cabinet officials to discuss different legislations, at which point the masses is then administered by the religious advisor), but it is also suggested that both the religious advisor and high priest are typically the ones that lead an interpretive do-as-I-do kind of dance.

Which involves the participation of everyone in the Ewther clan. Given that, it is not hard to find that their religion is a straightforward religion with no gimmicks. During the religious sermons, the high priest reads stone scriptures that were written regarding their amphibian ancestor and clan founder's love of mythology and folklore, then gives his or her take on the matter in a way that everyone can understand, thus giving a new look on an old term of paraphrasing. During the reading of most or all of the aforementioned scriptures the religious advisor, who is fluent in both.

The Ewther clan's official and secret languages are often the one who translates the various quotes from the scripture to the clan's secret language as these scriptures are spoken in the clan's official language by the high priest, thus giving everyone a sense of wisdom and understanding. During a tsunami, which happens once every couple of dozen years, it is suggested that most or all of the Ewther population, including the religious advisor and the high priest, pray to the god of the weather (whose name is often spoken in the clan's secret language) for an end to this tsunami.

However, while these tsunamis don't last very long they are often quite dramatic and big, so during this supposed tsunamic event the high priest and religious advisor take the population of Ewther kin'toni to the largest land cave in a nearby region, this cave is far inland and high above the clan's home region. This cave is called "Liau Ta Malaxa", meaning "Place of Safety". They block the entrance with a large boulder once they manage to get inside. When all is said and done, the large boulder is then pushed aside and the clan immediately holds mass on land to praise the god of the weather for the ending of the tsunami.
