==History==
===Historical Overview===

The Czyker region had a long and interesting history, from its first zu'aan inhabitants to its continuous cycles of settlers and migrations that left their mark on the region. The Czyker was a cold and wet meadow that was constantly ravaged by thunder storms and rain. Most of the zu'aan settlers who came from the warmer and brighter regions of the continent found it hard to adapt to the drab and dreary surroundings of these new surroundings. A few inscriptions on their cave dwellings talked about the depression and loss of appetite that began to affect them.

These conditions were mostly attributed to the lack of proper sunlight and the constantly overcast conditions that made the region appear grey at all times. These first zu'aan settlers were unfamiliar to the environment and couldn't adapt quickly to the wet and cold conditions of the region. They struggled with hunting the wildlife of the region and couldn't produce enough clothing and warmth to protect all of their members from the natural killers in the region like hypothermia and cold.

They were engaged in many conflicts with each other over supplies which would greatly decimate their numbers and eventually drove them to extinction. The story of these first settlers was well known in all zu'aan circles and the following expeditions in the region would be better prepared and equipped to handle the conditions of the region. These later zu'aan arrived with warm clothing and water proofed camps to keep away the damp that could seep into any exposed surface in the region.

These settlers began to establish themselves in the region and were more rational and cooperative than the warring tribes that previously settled here. The zu'aan would build many settlements all over the region along with facilities and structures to improve the quality of life in the region. These included the construction of roads and clearings all over the region that helped communication and transport. It brought a more optimistic attitude to the people of the region. The different settlements of the region remained in constant, friendly contact.

There was a general lack of defensive structures in the region as the zu'aan were more preoccupied on survival and thriving. The region very peaceful during this period and the only break from the peace was the lawlessness of local miscreants and small-time outlaws and bandits who occupied the roads leading to and from the region. The region had a distinct lack of military forces during this period and the closest thing to one were the sheriffs who were assigned to maintain order in town.

The famous Kloeri Laodaeutra, who founded the [[Cactulusca Tribal Zu'Aan]] during the kin'toni outbreak was a part of these group. He would organize a mass migration of the local zu'aan during the kin'toni outbreak that was meant to take them deeper- to an isolated region of the Czyker where they could avoid the reach of the kin'toni hordes. He would form these survivors into the Cactalusca zu’aan and were able to forge a successful living behind the safety of their defensive walls and towers.
==Geography==

The Czyker region was mostly flat with only gradual and smooth changes in elevation. The region was covered in large flowering grasslands along with the occasional forests. The smooth terrain in the region helped with communication and transportation throughout the region. The first roads in the region would begin to crop up during the middle of the first era and were vital to the continued development of the region. The region was known for its dull and dreary appearance due to the overwhelming presence of rain bearing clouds in the region.

Rainfall was very common here and many of the roads would be reduced to mud and slush after a few hours of continuous rainfall. This created the demand for better cobbled roads which were used throughout the major routes but were not able to penetrate into the interior of the region due to several constraints. Agriculture was practiced by the zu'aan of the region but had to be timed carefully to avoid the most severe rainfalls that would regularly lead to waterlogged fields and drowned crops.

The natural vegetation of the region also produced many fruits, berries and vegetables that the zu'aan could rely on to meet their short-term food demands. The Czyker was filled with abundant woodlands that supplied the region with the required amounts of wood for the rapid construction and development of the region. These woodlands and meadows were filled with all kinds of animals from domesticated pack animals to predators and wild herds of cattle that grazed on these meadows.

The zu'aan depended on these animals for food and for their durable hides which were vital to help them stay dry and warm. The fur trade was one of the most lucrative businesses in the region and helped to fund the development of the settlements here. The Czyker region was cold and wet for most of the year. It experienced three seasons in a year, the warm and humid summers, the rainy monsoon and the freezing winters. In summer, the region's temperatures could climb as high as thirty degree Celsius and the cloud cover would also lead to increased humidity levels within the region.

The region would enjoy intermittent sunlight and most of the flowers and plants in the meadows would be in full bloom. Thunderstorms and lightning were a common phenomenon during this season and could lead to small fires and deaths. Rainfall would gradually begin to increase with the end of summer and temperatures would slowly begin to drop to the twenties. The ground would be covered in mud and slush and travel was greatly affected during this period. This rainy season was quite short and would immediately be followed by the winter season.

Cold winds would blow into and across the region during this season and quickly bring down the temperatures to single digits. The sky would remain overcast but rainfall was a lot rarer than in the monsoons. Fog and mist were a common part of the winters, along with regular frost and hailstones that could destroy any unharvested crops and vulnerable plants.

==Plants==

The vegetation in the Czyker wet meadow region was a mix of plants that grew all over the meadows and the trees that would grow in wooded clumps that dotted the meadows. These plants had to be acclimatized to the conditions of the region, including the distinctive lack of sunlight and the incessant rains that poured down on the meadows all season long. The Czyker's soil supported some hardy crops and many of the zu'aan resorted to small scale agriculture in between their hunting activities.

The plants were not as intrusive as many of the vegetation of the more fertile regions and their growth was naturally contained by man natural factors including the heavy winds and lack of sunlight. This gave the meadow grasses a trimmed and uniform appearance and contributed to the scenic beauty of the region. The trees of the region were also vital for the development of settlements. The zu'aan would engage in widespread woodcutting and harvesting of these woodlands starting from somewhere in the mid first era.

Some of the most important plants of the region included the tiache grasses, the ranel shrub, the athtincer coniferous tree and the Sulend moss. The tiache was the most common form of grass found in the meadows of the Czyker region. It was composed of a long, flat stalk that could grow to around waist height for a normal sized zu'aan. The stalks had two faces- one was rough and had tiny bristles that could stick to clothing and fur while the other was smooth and bright green in color.

The plant did not require a lot of sunlight and had the capacity to absorb a lot of water adn survive in watery mud and slush. It was consumed by many of the herbivores of the Czyker region. The ranel shrub was another common plant that grew among the tiache grasses of the Czyker meadows. The ranel had a thorny stem covered with tiny needles that were capable of causing great discomfort and swelling but were not fatal or harmful for zu'aan. The shrub produced a bright yellow flower that would bloom for several weeks during the humid summer months.

The athtincer was the standard tree of the meadows. It was a coniferous tree and thrived in the cold conditions of the winter, when it would produce many pine cones along with small edible berries. Thousands of groves of this particular tree could be found all over the region and they were the most commonly felled trees for use in construction. The athtincer could grow to a maximum height of over twenty-five feet and could also act as a natural barrier against the strong winds that occasionally ravaged the region.

The sulend was most commonly found on damp rocks, walls and rooftops. It was a form of moss that was popular for its insulating properties and was often used to line the floors of zu'aan habitats in winter. They were capable of absorbing large amounts of moisture and produced a natural heat. They could also be used inside clothing to warm up and to keep people dry. It was the most effective remedy to prevent the onset of hypothermia.

==Animals==

The animals of the Czyker region were vital for the survival efforts of the zu'aan settlers in the region. These animals ranged from domesticated cattle that provided them much needed food, milk and hide or the mounts and other beasts of burden that helped the people traverse the region more efficiently. The region was also filled with many deadly predators whose fur and hide were prized for their water-resistant properties and warmth. These were especially vital to survive in the cold and wet winters when death could set in from hypothermia and exposure without the victim being aware of his predicament.

Some of the most common animals in the region included the domesticated Irech cattle that was bred around zu'aan settlement while also existing in the wild, the vorkin mount, the sicermor pack-animal that wsa widely used among caravans and the fearsome lor'dan predator. The irech was a large animal that could measure over seven feet in length and over five feet in heigh. The animal fed on the grasslands of the region where they would graze around when in the wild. They existed in large herds for self-defense and were able to defend themselves from many of the predators in the region.

The male irech were equipped with a set of horns that they could use to gore their enemies when threatened. The came in a variety of colors including white, black and brown and had a coat of short brown fur that could be turned to hide and used to make clothing and tents. The vorkin was another animal that was domesticated and used as mounts by most of the zu'aan settlers in the region. It could grow to over six feet in length and six feet in height. The animal had very strong muscles that could propel it to very fast speeds and helped it cover vast distances fairly quickly.

They were very easy to maintain and could eat both plants and meat making them the perfect companions during times of scarcity. The Sicermor animal was quite similar to the vorkin but had a lower stature and a heftier weight. It was known to carry more than thrice its weight and was commonly deployed as a pack animal to transport goods and cargoes across the region. The animal also had a long coat of soft fur that was used in many of the zu'aan's clothing items. Like the vorkin, it could adapt to a variety of diets and was a very versatile farm animal.

The lor'dan was the prized catch for many of the hunters who would regularly wander into the forest to hunt them for their hides and bone. The lor'dan's fur was very thick and could resist water as well as retain heat very well making it a valuable resource in the region. The animal could grow to a large size and could leverage its hefty weight to strike its enemies with tremendous force. It was equipped with long and sharp teeth as well as claws that could easily kill or main any inexperienced hunter.
