Cryzat Coast was once an unclaimed, beautiful coast of white, sandy beaches. It looked over the sea that glittered beneath the light of the sun. Seashells of all colors, shapes, and sizes peeked out of the warm sand. It was a tourist attraction that called upon the masses willing to make the trek there. The journey wasn’t an easy one. Those who wanted to reach the coast had to go through the rough mountain terrain, the thick forests, the rugged cliffs, and the wildlife. They had to find a way down the cliff to actually reach the beach, a feat that proved impossible for most. Those that did make it, back then, considered it a little slice of paradise well worth the hard journey.

With so little traffic of zu’aan, the beaches were well preserved and mostly untouched. The zu’aan that were able to walk along the beach tried not to disturb it as much as they could.

==Geography ==

Cryzat Coast lies towards the southwest. The shape of the coast changes due to the waves that constantly strike against the shoreline. As the water crashes and pulls away, the sediment moves along with it, increasing and decreasing the size with the changing of the weather. Cold winters bring about the heavy waves that crash roughly into the shore, decreasing the sediment and thus the size. Hot summers bring about the soft waves that gently wash upon the shore, slowly increasing the size as it brings the sediment in. The shape of the coast changed from how it was before the Awakening Age and it changed during. It is different from how it was during the beginning of the Twilight Age and will be completely different after it has passed.

The climate here is a bit more moderate than areas further inland. As the ocean warms and cools slowly, it is less likely for extremely cold and extremely hot weather to occur. That doesn’t mean that the temperature doesn’t drop or increase, it just means warmer winters and cooler summers. Storms blowing in from the sea are common. They can be quite powerful and very destructive, and it wouldn’t be surprising for one to just appear out of nowhere. Sand dunes, both big and small, run up and down the beach, created by strong winds that come with the waves. They change as often as the waves wash back and forth, maybe even more so. Sharp, black rocks reach out towards the sea from the coastline, some so big that it’s hard to see their tops.

Some jut up from the seafloor, peeking out just above the surface. Those have a bit more jagged edges due to the constant waves that crash into them, shaping them. Debris from the sea and from whatever storms pick up can often be found washed up on the beach. The Cryzat Coast sits in an ideal spot for protection. With the sea and its powerful waves on one side and rough terrain on the other, it is an easily defended area. Any ships that try to come by the sea, if unfamiliar with the area, will have their ships shredded from the sharp rocks. Mountains, thick forest, rugged cliffs, and the walled city of Urn’rayo make it hard for outsiders to approach the coast. The cliffs just by themselves pose a tough, geographical problem for those seeking the coast.

They sit several hundred feet above the coast, making for a long drop down. And it’s nearly impossible, without the correct knowledge, to climb down it without falling to death. Sand is considered one of the least fertile forms of soil, allowing for very little, if any, plant life. Most of the plant life of this area has either made their place in the sea, evolved to be able to thrive against the salt water, or grown further inland away from the coast. Even with that said, there isn’t much plan tlife on the coast itself.

== Plants ==

Plants that grow in the Cryzat Coast have evolved to be able to withstand the force and power that comes with the sea. They have the ability to withstand the waves, weather through the winds, and grow beneath the water. There are three plants that have the most impact on the inhabitants of the coast. Oxalda, a light green and blue moss, dwells on the giant, sharp rocks of the Cryzat Coast. It clings to them as it feeds on the salt from the spray that waves make as they crash. The constant moisture on the rock allows for the oxalda to grow and spread. It’s strong and sturdy, making it hard to destroy. Oxalda becomes completely submerged during the high tide, allowing it to grow quickly creating an abundance.

This particular moss is high in medicinal properties. By using it as a wrapping, it can detoxify cuts and wounds. By packing it into deep cuts and openings, it can even help stop bleeding. While it can be used to help outward ailments, the oxalda should not be consumed. Consuming it can cause headaches, nausea, paralysis, and even death if enough is ingested. Unseen Aslasse is a type of seaweed that grows near the surface. It is a seaweed that is said to be able to camouflage itself, giving it its name. It easily blends in with the sea with its translucent blue color, dancing with the waves. Those that grow a bit deeper can stretch to nearly three feet. With that being said, it can’t grow in the darkness at the bottom of the sea.

Light has to touch it for it to thrive. This seaweed can be safely consumed either raw, cooked, or dried. It has a sweet and salty taste to it and can be used as a very flavorful seasoning when added to cooking. Trograr fish are known to feast on this plant as well. Vletta is a flower with thick, tubular shaped, white petals that cluster together on a thick but small green stem. The petals are about the length of a palm and are thick to protect the yellow bulb inside from the heavy winds and harsh waves. They curve over the bulb, pressing tightly together. When the tide is low and the sun is bright, the clusters spread out, allowing the bulb to breathe. This flower grows just at the edge of the shoreline, close enough for the water to brush against it but far enough to avoid being overtaken by it.

Every part of the Vletta can be used. Within the thick petas is a gel that can treat burns. The petals themselves can be used as kindling for fire. Surprisingly, they can support fire longer than wood can. The bulb inside can be crushed and used as dye. The inside of the stems are overwhelmingly sweet and can be used like liquid sugar when crushed and mixed with water or can be chewed on. The salt from the sea has to be washed off to enjoy the sweetness inside.

== Animals ==

It is hard to find a large population of land animals inhabiting the Cryzat Coast. They become less scarce the further inland one goes, preferring to stay on land. The majority of animals that do inhabit the coast live within the sea, close to the surface. The trograr fish, the kasca sea worm, and the grashi serpent make up the most of the animal population in Cryzat Coast and are the most well known. The trograr fish lives close to the surface of the sea, right off of the coast. Due to them being so close, they often wash upon the shore during heavy storms. These particular fish are one of the few herbivores in this location. They have a diet that consists primarily of seaweed.

Some believe that their diet is what allows them to have such long lifespans, living for as long as seventy years if they can avoid predators. Their scales are a soft blue with hints of gold under the glint of the sun. They span just over a foot long and have a slender form just a bit thicker than a forearm. The trograr are not an aggressive species, but they are plentiful. A single female trograr can lay nearly a thousand eggs at a time. They are firmly at the bottom of the food chain. The kasca sea worm on the other hand lives on the seafloor, burrowing down into the sand there. Their skin is a sandy color that feels soft and rubbery. The kasca are blind as they have no use for eyes in the darkness of the seafloor.

They can span, depending on how much they eat, anywhere from one foot to six feet long. The rows of sharp teeth aid their carnivorous diets and their fast bodies place them pretty high on the food chain, though their lifespans are not very long. Even the healthiest kasca only live about seven years. They are known to lie in wait beneath the sand on the seafloor for prey and then strike fast like lightning. It’s said to be nearly impossible to catch one by hand by even the most practiced fishers. The grashi serpent is at the very top of the food chain in Cryzat Coast. They live far beneath the surface of the sea, but not quiet on the seafloor, preferring to swim in the area between the two.

Their bodies can span anywhere from seven to thirteen feet and can weigh anywhere from 75lbs to 135ibs. Their weight doesn’t hinder their ability to hunt. Thin dark blue scales adorn their bodies, becoming lighter the further they get to the surface. Their yellow eyes, with slitted pupils, are accustomed to both the dark and the light. Their eyesight, paired with their ability to quickly strike and their razor sharp fangs, makes them very accomplished hunters. They prey on anything that lives, even going as far as taking on animals that are twice their size, and are considered kings of the ocean.
