==History==

A little before the year 3E 2995, before the rise of the kin'toni'ati race took place, a zu'aan scientist, after trying for decades to gain recognition for inventions she created, decided to build her secret laboratory, where she created the first Clael kin'toni from willing zu'aan subjects and raised them as her own. She would raise these new creations for the rest of her life until her death in the year 4E 51. After Iakough's death, the newly-created Clael clan began to look for a place of their own in the zu'aan community, but their thirst for zu'aan blood led to an immense amount of turning that spawned the birth of hundreds of thousands of new Clael kin'toni.

Each with a unique distinguishable feature about them. That was when their rise to power would begin and end, even after nearly half of a century of building their empire from scratch into a vast society. The zu'aan governments would eventually carry out and order the destruction of Terael 's largest regions and cities, most of which contained the vast majority of the kin'toni'ati race. One of these cities, originally named Razquar, served as the Clael clan's birthplace but was turned into a wasteland on account of many of the kin'toni clans living there at once at the time, although some of these clans that resided here took care of the land in the Clael clan's absence.

The place that became a wasteland was not just the city of Razquar, but lots of land around it, like the place called Mar'Ti. The twenty Clans of the Lifeless wastes became allies to fight the Clael kin'toni Clan for they did not want the very big Clael kin'toni Clan to dominate Terael. Alone a clan can not win, for they would be overcome with numbers alone. But as allies, they knew they could for together they were many. The allies, calling themselves the "Shadowed Claws" made war on the Clael kin'toni Clan. When the war was over, the Clael clan had lost many of their numbers.

The clans of the Shadowed Claws had lost around two thousand, eight hundred of them around three thousand kin'toni they had. The clans of the Shadowed Claws soon went their ways and to find new lands to live in. This was part of the Shattering. The Clael kin'toni Clan had a war between two fractions the clan had split into, the fractions were the Darkseekers and the Children of Night. The Darkseekers had around two thousand, three hundred kin'toni and the Children of Night had around two thousand, seven hundred kin'toni, they were at war because of wanted to control the clan. In the end, the Children of Night won, losing all but three hundred of their kin'toni, the Darkseekers had been wiped out.

Now, after around a hundred years of rebuilding, the Clael clan, most of which were killed in the Shattering all that time ago, have experienced and won many battles against their zu'aan counterparts; however, they currently seek refuge in their birthplace, which they now call Ilk'Baela on account of many trees being planted by other kin'toni clans during the reconstruction process, which in turn made this region a broadleaf paradise. The clan only has around 500 kin'toni, now for there were few zu'aan to turn. But, now the zu'aan who had been hurt so long ago are coming back, for the clan is now weaker than before.

==Psychology==

It is very difficult for them to operate with objects other than wood and stone. However, they have a unique method to their thoughts, and as a result, their thoughts are generally pessimistic most of the time, with a little bit of optimism here and there, although sometimes when they think their bodies begin to sweat water. It is normal and common for a Clael kin'toni to express their emotions, but they do so in a strange way and while most Clael kin'toni expresses emotions with their five-inch long, pointed ears and long arms, some can speak in both their secret language of Na'Dris and their official clan language of Axuu.

They also have a complex series of several-syllable words and phrases, most or all of which their ancestors came up with. However, their way of socializing with others is complex, as some of these clans don't know how to interpret the languages of other clans into their own. This has been a problem in the past. So about half of the Clael clan operate on nerve-controlled impulse; meanwhile, the other half of the Clael clan that doesn't act on impulse when socializing with other clans operate instead on the facial expressions of others. Most, but not all of the kin'toni in this clan show as traits:

There are two sets of traits they can show. They can show one, but not the other. The first set has Machiavellism, the term some social and personality psychologists use to describe a person's tendency to deceive and manipulate others for personal gain. Rigidity, which refers to an obstinate inability to yield. A refusal to appreciate another persons viewpoint or emotions, characterized by a lack of empathy and often have functional fixedness, which is a difficulty conceiving new uses for familiar objects. This is what most kin'toni in this clan have (around seventy-five per cent of the clan).

The second is rarer only twenty-five per cent of the clan has this set. This is defined by: Rebelliousness, a personality trait or social behaviour characterized by an aggressive and rejecting stance to authority It goes beyond nonconformism in its more active form and can lead to delinquency, activism, political radicalism etc. Nonconformism, a personality trait and form of consistent social behaviour characterized by a failure to conform to social norms, standards, rules, or laws etc. Nonconformity is the term for less consistent, more situation-specific behaviour and liberalism, the belief in the importance of individual freedom.

==Biology==

The Clael are adapted to the damp, mossy and dense [[Atyal-Lysh Broadleaf Forest]]. They are lean and wiry of build, to allow for silent, rapid movement through thick undergrowth and to climb tall, mossy trees. Due to their leaner frame, they lack the fat needed for long term torpor and lack protection from blunt force trauma. Their skin is dark brown and green, and rough like bark. The body hair is coarse fur, with the hair on theirs heads cascading down their backs. The hair and fur is moss green, with patches of brown.

This acts as camouflage in the dappled light. Their eyes are bright gold in color, with exceptional low-light vision for hunting at night. The eyes are also extremely sensitive and easily disoriented by sudden, bright flashes of light. Their ears are long, pointed and mobile, able to move due to muscles in the base of the ear. Their hearing is adapted to find sounds in the dense forest. The downside of this is a struggle to locate sounds in open areas. Their noses have fine, internal filter-hairs and the ability to seal shut as to protect the hyper-sensitive nasal receptors from inhaled dust and spores.

Their canine teeth are long and needle like, along with the rest of their teeth, adapted to piercing thick animal hide quickly. These teeth are brittle, and prone to breaking if they hit hard materials. Their claws are long, retractable and hook-like, to grant an incredible grip for scaling rough bark and rock faces. Their arms are long and adapted for tree-top movement, and their legs are muscular, for jumping though the trees. The feet and hands are adapted to have flexible ankle joints that can rotate almost 180 degrees.

Alongside an pincer-like foot shape with a backward-facing toe to grasp branches. The downside of this is slow, awkward ground movement. Their hands and feet have specialized scent glands in the palms and soles for marking territory and leaving sent trails for other clan members to follow. Their joints are adapted to be very flexible, with significantly increased ligament and tendon elasticity. This allows a large, almost unnatural range of motion for stalking and tree-top movement, but this also leads to a lower ability to resist blunt force impacts.

Due to their epidermal modifications on their joints and the soles of their feet, the feet absorb vibrations, allowing them near-perfect silence when moving through foliage. Their enhanced recycling glands allow them to at quickly process the lower-lipid, non-mammalian blood of forest reptiles and birds for short-term energy. This does require an much greater amount drunk to match the nutritional value of high-order mammalian blood. They have modified prion-driven cells in their bones that allow for rapid sequestration of calcium and iron from the damp forest soil or water.

This is used to aid their wound healing. Their blood vessels are clustered closer to the surface on the back of the limbs to allow for quick heat exchange in the humid forest air. The downside of this is being more more vulnerable to blood loss from shallow lacerations.

==Culture==

Life in the Clael clan of kin'toni is not easy—but it's not impossible, either. When a group of kin'toni in this particular clan hunts for food in the broadleaf forest region of Ilk'Baela it is common practice for the family to hunt together as opposed to hunting separately, as hunting separately causes several or sometimes all of the family to get lost in the path. This may also cause a lot of confusion in the minds of the offspring as they try to find their parents or elder figures and speaking of hunting, there are several key things that a Clael kin'toni, in particular, looks for when on the hunt: one of these things.

Is a small creature known as the wrogto, is known for having white veins and light lavender skin. Although in most places the wrogto is known to have fur; the next and one of the most important things that are often a hunting target are the guirfa trees that produce guirfa nuts from the limbs of the tree, and they are typically camouflaged by the thousands of leaves that make up the tree; lastly is a large animal known as the blfog, a hairy behemoth with rat tails that are about as long as a tree limb. When hunting, it is important to know that when the Clael kin'toni comes across a guirfa tree.

It will either climb up the tree to get a guirfa nut to eat from the limb or shake the tree hard enough to where a few guirfa nuts fall to the ground with the shell intact. What's even more important is when feeding on animals like the blfog a Clael kin'toni may have to bite the end of the blfog's tail. But not too hard or the blfog will thrash its tail about and beat the kin'toni with it. And on a side note, some kin'toni suggest that it is taboo to feed upon the wrogto as even a gentle bite will kill it. A typical family home setting is underground as many Clael kin'toni families will begin to dig holes that are big enough for them to drop into their home, which is typically referred to as a sfanyn.

Which is an underground bunker. In a sfanyn, they can store their guirfa nuts in a safe spot in case they feel the urge to engage in a meal. They also sleep in this sfanyn as it often helps them significantly when it comes to avoiding sunlight. A fashion in this clan emphasizes sophisticated, flowing burnt orange garments. Tops are typically sleeveless with low necklines. Bodices and boots are also customary. Masks and ties are popular accessories. Embroidery and cuffs are staples of the style. Dark gold, dark red-violet, and red-orange are also common colours. Different professions wear very different clothing.

==Government==

The Clael clan's government is commonly referred to by fellow clan members as the Clael Council, or the Czyxnawaz. It is primarily a socialist commonwealth government that operates on a financial, judicial, and territorial scale. There are close to three dozen Councilors in this government and one where each Councilor serves a distinct but very valuable role that determines the future of the Clael clan itself. Every few years all of the members of the Clael clan of kin'toni gather in a gt cave to participate in a vote to determine who, if anyone, is worthy of being on the Council.

The leader of the Czyxnawaz will select two Clael clan members at random from the crowd, and each clan member will state their case on why they feel worthy of being a Councilor. After both kin'toni have made their arguments, a vote to determine who gets in is made, and whoever gets the most votes will get the opportunity to serve on the Czyxnawaz as a member. Each of the Councilors serves specific roles; for instance, several of the Councilors serve as secretaries of arms and combat and are also the leaders of the clan's military. But several other members serve as secretaries of treasures and price determination, and that makes up the economical department.

As for the election process, each of the 32 elections that take place every 10 years will feature two new candidates as members of the previous council can only serve one term, with the option to run again at a later election period. Four main leaders of this government work together to come up with solutions to common and uncommon issues plaguing the Clael clan; these four leaders are referred to as the Treasurers or Ewzicols. One of the Ewzicols is responsible for meeting with the economical and military departments to discuss enforcement and financial stability plans.

Thus serving as the main Treasurer, while the other three Ewzicols meet with the secretaries of the other respective departments to discuss interrelated issues regarding family, social, and educational life, among other things. The political structure is tribes and a strong influence is a popular support. The most popular issue in the military. The Government's stability: extremely stable, but personal freedoms are bad and scandals are common. Foreign relations with other clans is very bad, but the zu'aan is somewhat good. One law of the clan is that the penalty for a member of a certain bloodline endangering an elder is a flogging.

==Military==

The Clael clan's military, which is often referred to as the Militia of Order, or Rapquoizu, is led by several Councilors that also serve on the Czyxnawaz as the secretaries of arms and combat; furthermore, anything that the four branch leaders of this military wishes to discuss with them must be discussed upfront and usually involves the use of policing, enforcement, offence, and defence. There are also four separate branches of this clan's military that make up the clan's military itself: first is the Runu, which is led by the lance corporal of spiritual and meditative exercise; second is the Quonu, which is led by the Xallu.

Whom is in charge of physical and cardiovascular regimes and practices; next is the Brunu, which is led by the Nawwu, who is in charge of training and combat and last, of course, is the Awunu, which is led by the Pxaeu who is in charge offence and defence coordination. Becoming a member of this military and one of its branches is not easy, as it requires lots of physical, mental, psychological, and emotional stamina. Everyone in this clan that comes of age and maturity is given a wooden shield and a wooden sword upon their arrival in basic training. From there if they can withstand and pass all of the demanding tests.

Those are required for membership into the clan's military, then they will be able to keep their wooden sword and wooden shield; otherwise, they must return it to one of the branch leaders. If one gets promoted in this military and can continue getting promotions through hard work and diligence. An Axatu (cadet) can become a Yarrvu (corporal) and associate to the leader of the branch they first applied to; however, if for some reason they get demoted somewhere down the line or cannot get promoted further up the ladder, they must then muster up the strength to try harder to master the tasks that they are given.

This army is known for its crafty kin'toni and the use of mauls. They are famous for the antics of some of their commanders and mercy to the defeated. Each legion contains 5 companies of 30 soldiers. There are four legions, one for each branch of the military. They are called the first is called the Anre Runu, the second is called the Anre Quonu, the third the Anre Brunu and the fourth is called the Anre Awunu. Each legion is led by the leader of the branch of the military it is with. They have a highly formal chain of command, with ranks based on wealth. At present, they are recovering from a crushing defeat.

==Religion==

Most Clael kin'toni are typically religious when it comes to the existence of a spirit that lives inside them. This belief in an internal spirit, which is commonly known in the kin'toni'ati community as qeonism, occurs when a spiritual ancestor enters a kin'toni's spirit at turning thus confirming the reincarnation of the self. It is a belief that has stood the test of time in the Clael clan and one that is very important to their survival and continued existence. There are a few caves in Ilk'Baela that serve as churches for the common qeonist, especially considering that qeonism is the predominant religion in this clan.

These churches are often large internal basques where rocky paintings and geology tell of their past, and as Clael qeonists enter these caves. They must first bow to a cave drawing of their ancestors and praise it as it stands before them. What is also a constant in these qeonist church settings is the use of chants and worship-style, rhythmic stomping that tells of their ancestors and praises them as their spirit roam free around Terael. Once these bodily instrumentals of praise are finished, the leader of the church. Often referred to as a gognoin, claps his hands twice to confirm the end of the chant and dance session.

As the gognoin begins to read from ancient scripts that are said to be dating back to the beginnings of their race it tells of how their ancestors were able to survive in the event of an apocalypse. All are willing to listen as the gognoin continues to preach the Cullen clan's gospel. This is referred to as the qeonozasroto—and when the sermon concludes everyone joins in for a final chanting session, followed by the adjourning of the church. Two weeks later they do it all over again. The symbol involves repeated shapes and a quarter moon and the holy colour is a light shade of teal.

It is passed Down via a strong oral tradition and the creation myth type is that of a world-parent. Mortals origin is that of being created as a vengeance by a god who was fighting his brother. A major myth and its symbol is exile. The Deadly Sins are neglect and faithlessness and High Virtues are kindness, tolerance and diligence. The associated art form is poetry and psalms. Coming of age rites takes place in a public ceremony and marriages happens shortly after coming of age. Marriage rites involve a symbolic 'kidnapping' and death rites are a private affair. This religion is believed by many.

==Miscellany==

One thing that kin'toni'ati history across Terael begin to overlook is the fact in which Cullen kin'toni are often distinguished by their eight fangs that are located inside their mouths—four of which are located on the top half of their mouths, and four of which are located on the bottom of their mouths. Having an extra two sets of fangs near the bottom of one's mouth serves as an advantage. Because it makes it easier for one to sink their teeth into a being. Another thing to know about Clael kin'toni that is often overlooked relates to the belief in qeonism. When the Clael qeonist prays just before falling to sleep underground in his or her bunker.

The qeonist will typically perform a sacred ritual to pay tribute to his or her ancestors. After the prayer concludes, the qeonist will then fall asleep, with a prized possession, normally an emerald or a ruby by its side. As of the present day, there is currently a good amount of Clael kin'toni in existence, with close to 67 per cent of them being male and 33 per cent of them female. The reproduction rate of this clan is slightly less than that of the typical kin'toni'ati clan. With more than half of the clan being successfully able to turn a zu'aan into a kin'toni. The other half that isn't able to turn a zu'aan into a kin'toni more often than not kills the zu'aan due to too much blood loss.

One final thing one should know about the Clael kin'toni is that the Clael kin'toni can sometimes have a growth spurt before he or she is no longer able to grow. In some cases, the growth spurt can continue. The tallest Clael kin'toni to ever exist was a kin'toni named Woqua Faqro. Before kin'toni'ati healers could find a cure Woqua, who was at his tallest roughly 9 feet, found that his body could no longer support him and he collapsed and died right there on the spot. Clael kin'toni reveres this being to this day for his undying spirit, but since his death, several cures have been found to get rid of the growth spurt.

The economy of this clan has as main export labourers and main import textiles. The main resource is timber and lumber and trade: has fewer imports than exports. Its strength: Very strong, but declining and wealth is in the hands of a very few. The clans banner is a rectangle with five vertical stripes of alternating pale gold, grey-green and umber. The emblem is a goblet and a gauntlet within a circle a and the banner of the religion is a square with three stripes of bright green, olive and sky blue, and a diagonal cross of burnt orange in the upper left-hand corner. The emblem is a pair of eyes and a half-moon.
