==History==

The Burturbur Kin'toni Clan was founded in 4E 105. The clan was founded by an alliance of packs led by Ce'vante. A member of his pack called Daysil discovered bloodroot. Fae learned that it could stretch out a blood supply. Daysil presented faer findings to Ce'vante and fae was rewarded by being made second in command of the nascent clan. This band grew into a clan by recruiting hungry kin'toni and used bloodroot to sate their hunger. The clan faced conflict from local bands and packs. Those clans and packs raided the Burturbur Kin'toni Clan.

These groups had learned that the clan had a way to stretch out blood supplies. This was learned from a loose-lipped clan member of the Burturbur. The clan retaliated to protect their bloodroot supplies. The bands and packs being small allowed the clan to fend them off. The clan moved to the Emeusk Autumn Forest from their bandlands home. They considered the Emeusk Autumn Forest a better environment for bloodroot growth. When they arrived at the Emeusk Autumn Forest, it had inhabitants. These inhabitants were a walled zu'aan town called Tyxa.

To take down Tyxa, the clan held them under siege. When the town sent scouts for food and water, the clan ambushed and kidnapped them for turning. Daysil led these efforts to kidnap and turn the Tyxa scouts. Fae interrogated them in order to learn where their city was and what its weak points were. This way, fae learned that there was a rusted and weak set of bars over a sewage channel. Fae told Ce'vante and the clan went to attack the town. The clan attacked at dusk, led by Daysil. Ce'vante watched from a nearby rock outcropping.

The clan split into groups with most started scaling the walls of the city. While some of them used their superhuman strength to break open the rusted bars in the sewage channel. The group going through the sewage channel attacked from the inside. The group scaling the walls struck from the outside. This surprise, two pronged attack overwhelmed the guards of the town. Once the guards were overwhelmed, the clan rounded up the townsfolk for turning and drank dry those they could not turn. During the Shattering, the clan stayed in Tyxa.

They grew bloodroot in the forests around Tyxa. The rocky surroundings allowed them to ambush and pick off rogue packs and bands. The Shattering's cold did not affect the hardy bloodroot plants. The Masyix clan wandered too close to Tyxa. Using their greater numbers, the Burturbur surrounded and overwhelmed the Masyix clan. The Masyix clan shattered into bands and packs after their leader was killed. As of 4E 500, the clan is not too worried about the Ice Age. They thought that their bloodroot will be able to survive the cold.

The Emeusk Autumn Forest had plenty of wildlife to feed on. The cold slowly crept in, and the autumn leaves began to fall. Autumn turned into winter. They were aware that from the north, more clans will come.

==Biology==

Although the Burturbur kin'toni clan will feed on any zu'aan that wonders into their area, they tend to lead a life more reminiscent of farmers because the zu'aan do not regularly pass through. This has led to subtle changes within them. Their skin is still pale as they must stay out of the deadly rays of the sun, but it is also cast with a slightly greenish hue. The veins that run underneath the skin are a pale purple, spreading across the skin and branching down to smaller and smaller veins that send nutrients to their extremities.

The paleness of the skin makes it nearly translucent and even in the darkest hours of the night make the Burturbur kin'toni visible. It is for this reason, they do not tend to hunt. While kin'toni generally have much better hearing than the zu'aan counterparts, the offspring of Ce'vante do not have exceptional hearing. It is unknown why, but it is not something that prevents them from surviving in this world. Much of their ear structure has stayed the same with a normal size shell surrounding a single ear canal and single ear drum.

Not having superior hearing in the first place, this deficit does not effect their abilities to feed or fight when necessary. Their sclera of the eye has taken on the same greenish hue as their skin has. Within this light green lies a gold iris into which sits a vertical black pupil. This odd coloring does not give them any better sight than the average zu'aan and the golden irises actually reflect back any source of light when the land is covered in darkness. This reflection has caused the life of several of their clansmen throughout their history as it tends to give their position away.

Different methods have been tried to eliminate the eyeshine but to date, nothing has worked The Burturbur kin'toni are of a smaller stature than many of their kin'toni counterparts. They are also comparatively weak. It is these traits that have caused them to stay where they are, far away from the main populous of the land. While this does severely limit their potential food, it does keep them alive. This shortage of proper food keeps them at their smaller stature but they are able to feed on enough food and the blood of other creatures that they stay alive, continuing to eke out a niche in the world.

Hair covers the entirety of the Burturbur kin'toni and it is believed that this is because of how cold the cold months are in the location they claimed as home. The hair that covers their body is softer and less course that the hair that covers their head. Their hands are the only part of their body that does not have hair hanging from them. This allows them to continue tending crops and raising creatures for slaughter

==Culture==
Grown from the remains of a farmer, the Burturbur kin'toni tend to carry on that tradition. They have discovered what foods can offer partial nourishment for them and plant enough during the warm time to last them through the extended cold time. They also grow other crops, designed to feed the various creatures they breed for food. There are several animals that they keep as livestock to fulfill their need for blood, although the nourishment from these creatures is not as rich as that received from the blood of a zu'aan.

The Pelorna, Stankawa, and La'funia all supply ample supplies of blood and they eat very little. The feathered Chickowla can be plucked clean and the feathers used to stuff the leather made from the hide of the Pelorna to create seats and beds. Meanwhile, the Chickowls will grow their feathers back to be used again at a later date. The Burturbur kin'toni were able to create crude axes to chop down the trees in the woods next to the stream and fashion shelter for themselves. While nothing extravagant, these shelters offer safety from the rays of the sun.

As the size of the clan increased throughout the decades, the number of shelters increased as well and the area around the stream bank mirrors that of a small town without the protection of a wall. Because so few tribes and clans pass this way, the lack of a protective wall has not been an issue to date. Many of the shelters house several members of the clan and some even house groups that have chosen to become a familial unit. Although not many of the zu'aan that have been turned have been children, there are some among the ranks and they are looked after by other Burturbur's.

The size of the Burturbur kin'toni clan currently sits at around 175 and although the clan was started by Ce'vante and contains much of his farming knowledge from his old life, many of the newer clan members have brought other bits of knowledge with them and have worked to make the shelters more of what they were used to when they were still zu'aan. By weaving young branches and some of the longer fronds from the various trees, rugs have been designed for floors. Leather from the hides of the Pelorna are treated and used to make clothing for clan members.

Aside from the need to feed on blood, the Burturbur kin'toni clan could pass for an of the zu'aan city dwellers. They gather together for meals and work the fields and forest side by side. Despite the number of clansmen there is very little infighting among the clan and when there is, it is settled by a general consensus of the others.

==Government==

A council of twenty Burturbur kin'toni are designated to develop the rules to which the clan live by. Half of the council is made up of Burturbur that have been selected by their fellow clansmen to represent the Clan. The other half have been a part of the council since its inception. Decisions made by the council range from the direction the Clan should go to settling any disputes that arise between clan members. To create even more diversity among the council, it is made up of both male and female kin'toni.

It is the council's intent to bring in as much diversity as possible when coming to any decisions related to the Clan. The Burturbur Clan have not do date sought out any alliances with other Clans. Over the course of the decades a few clans sought them out for the purpose of creating alliances. While the Burturbur are not interested in creating alliances with those clans that passed through, they did commit to a non-aggression pact with them. There have, fortunately, not been and clans that have openly attacked.

While they are aware of the great ice sheet that is slowly making its way across the land, they believe if they work together, utilizing the collected knowledge of the clan they will be able to prepare themselves to survive. Part of the responsibilities of the council is to aid in the planning of what life will be after the ice sheets have covered the land. Between the collected knowledge of the kin'toni that have become part of the Clan and the intelligence of the council, various methods have been implemented toward that ultimate goal.

One of these methods is to try and create a series of underground chambers that will allow the kin'toni to remain in an area of constant temperature while developing sections that can potentially be used to raise crops. As more kin'toni have joined with the Burturbur Clan, they have begun collecting any written documentation that survived the the Great Escape. This collection is not due to a desire to repeat the governmental aspects that were in place. The ultimate goal is to ensure that patterns are not put in place that may lead to a repeat of the events leading up to the creation of the kin'toni.

Burturbur Ce'vante's has instilled the mantra that those who forget the past are destined to repeat it. He understands that above all, if history begins to repeat ahead of the oncoming ice sheets, the entire world will be lost. While it does not seem that there is a danger of this happening due to the current state of affairs across the land, Ce'vante knows that any who survive the ice sheets and the time of coldness, society, at least the tattered remains of it, could potentially start over again.

==Military==

Although the Burturbur kin'toni do not seek out battle with any nomads traveling by, the do have a defensive ability. Two members of the council, Burturbur Forentha and Burturbur St'tarce, both came from a history of military service although neither were involved in the experiments and creation that lead to the existence of the kin'toni. Using this background, a small specialized unit within the Clan was developed and trained in the use of long-and short-range-weapons.

Without any local resources that could yield metal weapons, their long-range weapons consist of spears made from formed stone and wood. Short-range weapons included both hatchet style and long-bladed dagger type weapons. These weapons, like their long-range brethren are fashioned from sharpened stone and wood. Vines taken from the surrounding trees aids in holding these weapons together as well as crafting techniques that fit formed wood into formed stone securely.In addition to the specialized unit within the Clan, all members of the Burturbur Clan are trained in close-range hand-to-hand combat.

Forentha and St'tarce have hand-picked five other clan members to whom they have imparted their close-combat knowledge and skills. Those five are have been placed in charge of keeping the rest of the Clan and any new-comers skilled in that area of combat. On the nights of the full moon training sessions are held for ever clan member, broken into smaller groups and lead by the five trainers as well as Forentha and St'tarce. In addition to the physical training, St'tarce began drilling to military battle formations learned from his time working within the Empire's military.

His position allowed him to learn much of the Empire's advantages on the battle field. Word travels, even in the deteriorated state it is currently in, and St'tarce is aware that there are much larger clans than theirs. And it is known that some of those larger clans are hostile and interested only in killing, kin'toni and zu'aan alike. It is his belief that the only chance they have against any of these larger clans if they decide to attack is for the Burturbur Clan to be able to execute some of the advanced battle formations.

As the most knowledgeable in military ideals, St'tarce has tried to convince the council on more than one occasion to send spies out into the world to gather intelligence on other kin'toni clans and any of the surrounding zu'aan cities that may be close enough to threaten the Burturbur Clan. To date, the council has voted down this idea, however, as the coming of the great ice sheets becomes more of a threat, the council has begun to reconsider their position. There is a suspicion among several council members that St'tarce will be able to convince the council to change their mind within the next couple of seasonal changes.

St'tarce, himself, has noted the sway and has begun to create a list of clan members who he believes will be able to execute these types of orders quite well.

==Religion==

There are several different religions that are present in the Burturbur kin'toni Clan based on the different areas to which the kin'toni originally belonged. The Clan is open to the different religions spread throughout the Burturbur kin'toni and there is no record of any internal strife due to these varied religions. kin'toni that joined coming from the east in an area known for its desert sands and high temperatures have always served a god known as Re'bahke. According to the legends, Re'bahke loved the sand that covered the desert and so filled the land as far as the eye could see with its sparkling mass.

He filled the sands with many creatures who hid during the day and hunted at night under the coolness of the night orb. zu'aan worshiped the deity Re'bahke, counting on him for seasonal rains that they were able to store in sealed wooden barrels under their cities where it would be used for crops and drinking until the next rain. After the devastation caused from the virus, the zu'aan that were turned fled the desert land but took with them the history of Re'bahke, continuing to worship him and seeking devine interference to the destruction occurring over all the land.

Eventually becoming part of the Burturbur Clan, these kin'toni still worship Re'bahke and seek his guidance as they face the coming ice. Located many days travel to the southwest of the current Burturbur Clan there was at one time a small village of zu'aan that worshiped the deity Kav'tan. The small village survived on the outskirts of a forest situated on the banks of the river Elhone. The area much resembled the current location of the Burturbur Clan. Kav'tan, a water deity, was worshiped in morning and evening.

Morning worship was a plea to keep everyone safe during the day and to grant favor on those that fished and those that farmed so that they might bring home enough food for the village to exist another day. Because the seasons did not change there as much as in other parts of the land, the village was not required to stockpile resources. Because of this, when the virus came and its destructive nature ripped through the small village, there was not enough resources to keep those zu'aan who hadn't been turned alive.
