Mountain clan, nomadic hunters, very violent

==History==

Originaly diamond and gold miners from the tip of the mountains this are a tough and blood thirsty clan. They had lived for generations beneath the cruel mountains and would for many moons work upon in the hills and the mountains, along the ridges and the streams, panhandling for gold or deep within the quarries, digging for gold.
A tough people, they had a hard life from toiling in terrible places and in the worst conditions. When the kin’toni disease struck them they were already a harsh tribe, volatile and grizzled by the terrible work they did and the endless suffering that came with it.

When the disease took over their bodies all of their psychological and physical make up were intensified and they soon became a very formidable clan. To begin with they fed upon nearby mining towns and soon developed an insatiable lust for zu’aan blood and would mercilessly kill and devour any and everyone they found in their path. Soon the authorities and military were sent to deal with this clan as the news of their brutal and murderous ways quickly spread. A raging battle ensued and although the clan were unspeakable ferocious they were no match for the military who had outnumbered them.

And were armed with long pole arms which they were using to dispatch them. Many of the tribe were destroyed and so they quickly made good their escape, deep into the mountains where they scattered and disappeared into hiding, waiting until some weeks had passed and they were forgotten about by their enemies. Soon they began to regroup and find each other again. They compiled a list of all those who had fallen, all who were accounted for and all who were not. When they were sure that everyone was together again they began to get organised. They knew that if they were to survive in this new world.

That they would have to develop a very clever and organised system in their tribe and that they would need a plan. With a government and a ruler in place they became a highly organised and ruthless tribe. They patrolled the mountains like vultures, always looking for victims on the edges of society. They learned to hunt people in smaller groups who had drifted from the townships or had walked a way from civilisation and pounced upon people who thought would not be missed, never wishing to draw attention to themselves. They became almost like ghosts, a myth that people spoke of under whispered breaths to scare each other when the night came.

There have been a few times when they have caused too much of a disturbance and they have found themselves in overwhelming battles but each time they have made good their escape and returned to their secret lair in the mountains. They have built a secret fortress deep below the mountains, constructed from an old unused mine, originally used for digging gold. This became the base for their secret empire. They have never allowed anyone else to find it.

==Biology==

Tall and skeletonlike with crooked backs from years of being hunched over in mines when they lived, they have progressively become more wraithlike as the decades have passed. They are quite fast in their movements and have a big spring in their steps and are able to gain a lot of round in long and confident strides. Their fingers are very strong and they have a firm grip and can crush things in their hands quite easily. They have long black curved claw like nails on both their fingertips and toes. When they sleep they curl upside down and hang from rafters, gripping by their incredibly curved and strong feet and their razor sharp claws on their feet digging into the wood.

They have great stamina and are quite difficult to injure. Their skin is very tough, again from years of hard mining work. However they can be destroyed by being impaled, beheaded and set fire to. To penetrate their skin some force is required, but a shaft through the heart will destroy them instantly. They have zero tolerance to direct sunlight and will burn up as soon as they are exposed to it. They can run quietly and are in general very light on their feet. They have high strength and endurance levels. They do however, have an insatiable appetite and must feast on zu’aan blood regularly in order to stay healthy.

They sleep during daylight hours all the way through and need this time to recharge and recover from the nights exploits. They are very light sleepers so it is unadvisable to disturb them during their slumber. The most effective way to destroy them is with fire. Their blood is dark red/brown and has the consistency of oil. Their internal organs are leathery and scaled on the surface and soft inside. They need to consume a lot of blood to regain and maintain their strength. They will typically heal quickly from an ordinary flesh wound. A more serious injury, either accidently or incurred from battle may take anywhere from three days to three weeks to heal.

Depending on how deep the wound and whether the internal organs were penetrated. They have a very slow heartbeat and very soft breathing. They can move very quickly and very silently. They have a below zero freezing body temperature. Their skin is grey. Their hair is black and they have a piercing expression. They are very intense creatures. Agile with good balance. Loud multiple noises disorientate them and can also effect their vision. When bombarded with sound they find it hard to concentrate. They have very few emotional changes and are cool and calculating.

They tend to move slowly and are generally methodical in their approach to all things. They also conserve their energy for when it is needed the most.

==Culture==

An ancient mining family, they are a quiet and strong clan, who are very interested in arts and crafts, building things with their hands. They have occupied a gold mine which they have converted into a giant underground castle and filled with opulent furniture and decorations which they have all hand built out of wood which they have found in and around the mine. Some of the more elaborate decorations, such as the Kings throne is built from heavy bog oak wood which they sourced from the forests on the edge of the mountains. They still mine for gold and diamonds as it has always been their way of life mining and to them it is an art form.

They are all crafts people and are expert carpenters and blacksmiths. Some are more adept at hunting and violence and these are naturally more inclined to man and organise the military sector of the tribe. They are a very close nit clan. When all their daily work is done they gather around the large hall in their underground Mine Fortress and tell each other stories of times gone by. They will often sing songs to each other and many of them will join in so they become a quire. They are a democratic tribe and when great decisions have to be made they will all gather together with the king and discuss what action must be taken.

They think it is very important to keep their history and culture alive so they make sure that they all gather every night and converse of the old days, telling stories and singing songs to celebrate their culture. They are a hard and grizzled tribe who value strength and endurance, triumph over adversity. They do not complain about any arduous tasks that they have to accomplish and will struggle until they have completed what needs to be done. They work together as a group and see the tribe as a family and a team that must work together as one unit in order to survive.

They understand the elements and the seasonal changes of the land and although they must all dwell deep below the mines at daylight to avoid the deathly rays of the sun, they are an outdoors loving tribe and understand the elements and power of the different seasonal changes. They like to harness nature and use everything that is given to them. For instance all fallen trees will be gathered and used to create furnishings or constructed into tools or weapons. They waste nothing. They are all highly skilled individuals and have great craftwork knowledge which they share amongst the tribe, boosting each others skill sets.

They believe that knowledge and creativity of working with their hands is beneficial to the tribes standard of existence. They believe this will ultimately create a better chance of survival for the entire clan. They are a very close tribe and in tune with their surroundings and believe in harnessing their natural resources for their own productivity of the clan.

==Government==

The tribe is ruled by King Haa'lyth, who has been the ruler for many decades. He originally challenged their first ruler and they fought a duel in which Haa'lyth was victorious and he destroyed the original king in front of the rest of the tribe who have been fearful of him ever since and none have ever dared challenge him. He does however rule in a very respectful manner. He loves the tribe and wishes no harm to anyone. He originally challenged the first king as he and many others felt that he was gradually going insane and would bring great trouble to the tribe. Although they are a tribe of hardened pan handling murdering varments.

They have a very democratic government where every single member is given the opportunity to vote on any decisions that the government make that concerns the tribe. In their law, the King exists to serve the tribe and all thoughts and actions of the king must be presented for the tribe to decide if his thoughts and actions are just and benefit all. All must be in agreement for any new rule to be passed or any action to be taken on matters that effect the tribe. The military must also answer to the king, who in turn must answer to the tribe. There are also a series of rules put into place to protect the clan.

None are allowed to steal from each other. None are allowed to threaten or grievously or physically harm one another. Any acts of violence towards another member of the clan will result in an immediate trial, where the entire tribe are called and the accused must answer to the whole tribe with the king presiding over the ceremony as the judge. However it is not for the kin to say who is right or wrong. The entire tribe act as a council and both parties of the accused. The accusers must relate their opinions to the entire tribe who will then vote on the outcome. Depending on the crime, the guilty will either be punished and demoted within the clan or destroyed.

They do not banish anyone for fear they may divulge their secret location and cultural ways to any outside civilisations. Although they are a law abiding and respectful community who swear allegiance to the king and the laws of the tribe, they have a policy of freedom of speech and are always allowed to have their say about any law, subject or even the direction the tribe is taking, without fear of rebuke, ridicule or even aggression from any other member. The government is based on democracy, freedom of choice, equality, transparency and the greater good of the tribe.

It is very rare that anyone in the tribe commits any crime against other tribal members. They are very respectful of each other and they love their tribe and their government above all things as they are very patriotic regarding their clan.

==Military==

Hardened gold and diamond miners who have survived in the mountains and harsh elements long before they were even rendered kin’toni, they are also all very strong fighters and aggressive in their natures, always ready to kill any who would disrupt their solitude or threaten the peace of their tribe. They are all artistic and very good with crafts and many are expert blacksmiths and so they have a never ending and plentiful supply of weaponry which is always growing as they love to make things. They have some of their strongest tribal members elected as General figures who will generally command the entire group into a military form should the need for battle ever arise.

All will fight in these occasions and when it comes to it, every single one of them has a propensity for great violence and each one will fight until the bitter end, or until the king himself commands all to retreat. During war time the king assumes command of the entire clan and no voting ceremonies are required as there is no time for even thought during war. If the battle went well they will have great rejoicing afterwards. However, if the battle does not go well there will be a trial and during this session the Generals and even the king himself will have to answer for the choices they had made during the violence.

If the commanding ones are found incompetent it is possible that the entire clan can vote in members who they feel would be a better choice then what is currently on offer. They use a variety of nasty looking weapons, mainly swords and spear arms, axes and knives. They are very inventive in their weaponry and create blades that look highly nasty. They favour long spears, knives and swords and throwing axes, which suits their physicality, as they are silently and fast. They tend to go for war fare tactics where they creep up on the enemy from many different angles.

They fan out from different directions, picking off the enemy one by one until the very last moment where they will show themselves and attack all at once, surrounding the by now confused and disorientated enemy. Their battle are often over quite quickly. If they feel the fight has gone bad, the king will order a swiftly retreat and they will disappear quickly into the night. Their main objective is to have as few casualties as possible. They seek the survival of the clan, not its destruction. They are a clan without an ego and are not swayed by emotions as other tribes are.

They have nothing to prove to anyone, not even themselves. It is easy for them to make cold decisions that are based more in reality then emotional contexts. They prefer to avoid combat and will retreat rather then suffer casualties. They plan for their battles to be over quickly so as to avoid prolonged loss of energy and eventual loss of numbers.

==Religion==

They believe in fatalism. What will be will be. They are in tune with nature and the elements themselves. They see nature as the all powerful force in the world. The storms in life have the power to destroy and the calm weather has the power to nurture. They belive it is important top recycle everything and waste nothing. Although they have an insatiable hunger for zu’aan blood they do their best to drink only what they need and kill only those that are absolutely vital to kill and those poor misfortunes are usually lone travellers that will not be missed.

They do not let their greed overshadow the wisdom of nature, which is to take only that which you need, when you need it. They also use all the physical componants of the dead bodies and waste nothing. Even the strands of hair they will fashion into useful objects for them to have about the place. The bones they will boil and turn into a glue for cementing things. Clothes they recycle. It is the law of nature that nothing must be ever wasted. All things must return to nature as all are part of the never ending cycle of creation. They are an unemotional tribe and are fatalists.

They do not believe that they are cursed for wrongs that they committed in life. It is just as it is. Things do not happen because they are deserved. They just happen. The real challenge is how you continue your journey.
They live on the trail and at one with the changing elements. In the summer they spend much time outside gathering materials to ensure that their fortress is strong and secured for the treacherous winter to come. They do not pray to any deities but they do give thanks when they are at. They thank each other for being part fo the family and for keeping the family strong and providing.

They give thanks for the luck they have been given to survive another day. They believe in the power of the moon and the stars up above. This is not a magical power but a natural force that makes the world stronger. They like to experience the wonders of nature and marvel at the beauty of the world in all its cruelness. Survival of the fitness is the order of things. They will do anything for the greater good of the clan. They like also to sit out in the wilderness and look up to the stars. A rough and tough tribe they also appreciate the beauty of nature who is both cruel and beautiful in their eyes.
