==Geography==

The terrain of the Wegivart region was dominated by its towering mountain ranges that were snowcapped all year round. They rose to an average heigh of over six thousand meters above sea level and were the filled with alpine forest up to five thousand meters. The terrain beyond this point was barren and consisted of rocky outcrops that were covered in snow and ice. The alpine forests were covered in a variety of alpine trees and were home to a thriving ecosystem of both flora and fauna. Many rare and exotic animals could be found in these cold forests.

These animals were hunted by the zu'aan for their fur which was a vital part of their clothing and famed for their insulation and ability to retain heat. They were needed to fend off the chilling temperatures of the region that would regularly plummet below freezing levels. Their red meat was also a necessary part of their diet. It was known for the high fat content and the warmth that it produced once it was consumed. The animals of these regions were known for their ferocity and scavenging nature.

They would actively hunt all kinds of animals and even feed on carcasses during the mild summers and go into hibernation during the coldest winter months. The lower reaches of the Wegivart region gave way to rolling hills and plains that were known as the tundra. The terrain was covered in short reddish grasses and other varieties of short plants and shrubs. There was a distinct lack of trees in this part of the Wegivart which was home to many of the first zu'aan inhabitants of the region.

This part of the tundra was filled with an abundance of large rocky outcrops and formations that had contained many cracks and caves within them. These served as the first natural habitats of the zu'aan. They would slowly abandon these dwellings in exchange for wooden houses that they built using the wood from the foothills of the mountains. Agriculture was also conducted in a small scale during the short summer months. They also maintained many regular cattle which fed on the mosses and plants of the tundra region.

The climate of the Wegivart region was known for its cold and unforgiving nature. Preparation was key in order to survive within these lands. The region experienced three distinct seasons in a year- spring, summer and winter. In spring the lower plains and hills of the regions would thaw out and the flowers and plants would begin to bloom, while the mountains remained covered in the winter snow. The temperatures would hover around in the single digits, only occasionally crossing into double figures.

With the arrival of summer, the lower reaches of the mountains would begin to thaw out. The temperatures during this season would be in double figures but never crossing beyond the twenty mark. Agriculture could be practiced in the lower tundra regions during this short period. Winter was the most brutal time of the year. Temperatures would drop to below freezing levels and the entire region would be covered in a thick layer of snow.

==Plants==

The Wegivart's three distinctive zones, the snowy mountains, the lower reaches of the mountains and the tundra region had their own different types of vegetation depending on the soil conditions and the weather of the area. They could vary from the sparsely vegetated mountain peaks where the only plants were hardy and resilient shrubs that could survive in the snowy conditions and did not need much soil. The lower reaches of the mountains had plenty of soil and supported a wide variety of coniferous trees that formed large forests covering the entire lower slopes.

The conditions here were generally more favorable and was inhabited by many animals and wildlife. The low hills and plains which were called the tundra lacked any major tree cover but was home to a variety of ferns, mosses and plants that covered the entire floor. These regions were also cultivated by the zu'aan during the short winter months when they would grow some resilient crops that were resistant to the cold conditions. The plants did not have to worry about water since the region would be filled with many small streams and rivers once the snow from the higher altitudes began to thaw in the summer months.

These crops provided the zu'aan with a secondary source of food when their hunting activities were compromised and made them self-sufficient. Some of the most famous plants of the region were the cadoci shrubs that grew in the snow-covered peaks of the Wegivart's mountains, the tursul pines that covered most of the forest of the lower slopes and were a vital resource for the zu'aan's construction activities, the ienthi grasses that grew along the tundra and the berav crops of the native zu'aan.

The cadoci was among the few vegetation that could be found in the mountain peaks of the region. It could be picked out by its distinctive blue flowers that grew out of its stems. it was a common component of many tonics and herbal medicine and many zu'aan adventurers would regularly risk their lives trying to secure these plants for a healthy profit. The plant required no soil and could grow off rock surfaces that were common in the region. It was a typically small plant that measured no more than thirty centimeters from root to tip, making it very hard to spot in the glinting snow.

The tursul was a common pine tree that was found in the lower reaches of the Wegivart region. It could grow to a height of over twenty-five meters and became popular for its widespread use in the construction activities of the zu'aan. Entire settlements and defenses in the Wegivart region were built with out of this tree. It had a lot of characteristics that were common to coniferous trees such as needle like leaves and pine cones. It was slightly darker in color due to the lack of sunlight in the region and could almost appear a dark, dull blue at times.

The ienthi was a common grass of the tundra region that was known for its reddish, brown color. Entire grasslands were covered with this grass making the terrain appear red during the springs and summers. The berav was a hardy crop that was grown by the zu'aan of the region. It was suited to the soil of the region and did not require much sunlight or warmth.

==Animals==

The Wegivart alpine tundra region was home to a variety of wildlife that were accustomed to the brutally cold conditions of the region. The wildlife varied according to the different zones and one could expect to find a wider variety in the ecosystems of the lower altitudes. The mountain peaks were home to a few predatory birds that made their nests on the rocky crags and cliff faces. The lower slopes of the mountains had more active ecosystems that were filled with all kinds of predators and plant eating species.

The trees in these parts of the region were teeming with wildlife and the zu'aan hunters would regularly venture into these parts to do most of their hunting. Many lumber parties also set up camps in these parts where they would regularly come into contact with the dangerous wildlife of the region. They would learn to take precautionary measures every time they entered these parts of the Wegivart as it contained some of the most ferocious animals found anywhere in the continent. These animals were driven by survival and would do anything within their power to get their next meal.

Eating was a matter of life and death in this part of the world where the body burnt calories and food stores faster to create its own heat. Many of these animals would store up large reserves within their bodies and hibernate during the most brutal parts of winter in order to slow down their metabolism. It was a common tactic of the hunters to brave the cold weather and hunt these animals while they were hibernating in order to minimize the risk to themselves. Some of the most common wildlife of the region included the large ton'bela bear, the irn birds, the lenona scavenging foxes and the onala moose.

The ton'bela was considered as the greatest prize and a proof of bravery for the hunters of this region. It could be found in the forest of the lower slopes, where it would camp out within caves and among rock formations. The beast could grow to a height of over fifteen feet and could weigh over five hundred pounds. It was equipped with long claws as well as a powerful bite that could tear apart limb and bone. It had mottled white and black fur that allowed it to easily blend into the environment of the region.

The ton'bela had a large layer of fat that covered its entire body and acted as a food reserve for the long and brutal winters. It could also protect the bear from major injuries such as cuts and piercing wounds. The irn was a predatory bird that could be found in the highest mountain peaks of the region. It made its nests in these high altitudes to prevent its eggs and fledglings from becoming prey to other animals of the region. The bird would stalk the lower tundra regions looking to snatch up smaller animals for food.

The lenona was a scavenging fox that usually worked in large packs and were known for their cunning and savagery. They could take down animals larger than themselves by working as a team. They had complicated group dynamics with designated leaders, fighters and workers. They were among the most social animals in the Wegivart region. The onala was a big moose like creature that stood at close to six feet and could weigh about three hundred pounds. It was a good source of fur as well as meat for the local zu'aan of the area.

== Geography ==

The mountains provide a secure yet chaotic ecosystem from the outside world. They are spread in the form of a rather wide mountain range. Majority of the mountain ranges have a lot of trees and vegetation spread in patches where the trees managed to survive and adapt to the heavy snow and tough conditions. Most of the trees are quite thick and sturdy making the forests they form almost seem like a wooden fortress. There are some mountain bases where a seemingly eternal fog looms there, obscuring any and everything in there. Other mountains and especially at higher elevations seem to house a deep and interwoven network of caves. There are some stories and myths of what lies within the center of such caves.

Although there are many different mountains there, a single colossus stands out from the rest. That is the Echnend Aehir Mountain, the dormant giant. This fascinating mountain exists right at the central region. It towers considerably over any other of its numerous brothers and sisters and can be easily seen from afar. The Aehir Mountain is the oldest mountain there, having been arisen from a great volcanic eruption thousands of years ago. As a result of this, some areas near the base of the Aehir Mountain are enriched with a very fertile soil. This mountain also possess a frozen deep lake at its summit because of its long years of inactivity.

Taking a wider look at the mountain range, you would also see numerous bodies of water scattered randomly. These bodies of water can either be fully frozen or still in liquid form, such a thing depends on where they are located. A few mountains have some rivers flowing. Some of these rivers are seasonal where they completely disappear with in colder seasons especially in winter. Waterfalls are also common at such mountains especially at the base. When it comes to the weather on these mountains it can simply be described as mild on the best days and extremely hazardous on other not-so-good days of the year. The weather there is very random and it varies a lot depending on the time of day and on the time of year.

In warmer seasons, these mountains are not so bad and horrific and they can provide a decent living space for animals that have adapted to it. But when it comes to the colder seasons and especially winter even the hardest and strongest animals cannot bear it or survive without a good shelter. Nearly all animals go to hibernation there. The few that don't resort to hibernation stick to inhabiting caves while maintaining the temperature of the body and going out every once in a while searching for food. Fog is also a common occurrence on the mountains. It is usually heavy and greatly hinders vision making it the main reason some animals have an overdeveloped sense of smell or hearing or any other adaption to combat this.

== Plants ==
The plant life in these mountains is not very varied. The reason for this is that harsh weather conditions force only the strongest and most adaptive species to survive. But, those that manage to do that are quite remarkable such as: Denrmos elder trees, oslid bushes and the Maim shrubs to name a few. Denrmos trees are a source of fascination because, even though they show signs of being a higher developed organism in terms of the plant kingdom, they reproduce by sporogony (using spores). This, no matter how strange it might seem, is an absolutely beneficial things to those trees where the spores are in a thick outer coat that is hard to be penetrated and it also offers a quick to propagate and even find more forgiving climates than the Echnend Mountains.

Along with their unique mean of reproduction. They also grow very high in both directions up and down: the roots penetrate the crust and the ground with tremendous force and capability, securing the plant against the heavy winds and storms while the wood, bark, twigs and other parts are extremely stiff, hard and rigid to face the wind and the weather. They can be found all throughout the mountains and in different elevations even at the summit itself. Denrmos elder trees are adorned with thick black bark almost as black as the night sky or a bottle of ink. Because of its sturdiness and elegant shape; it was always demanded by royalty and the elites almost as a status symbol. Even a wafer thin sheet of the bark can withstand a lot of pressure before breaking.

Their leaves are needle-like and are coated heavily in an insulating substance similar to cutin to prevent water loss. The leaves are permanent and they do not in most cases fall off annually. Oslid Bushes are another innovative creature if they can be described as such. These bushes do not have the same strong wood or stem to resist the tough external factors, resulting in their growth in generally more calmer areas at the middle of bottom of the mountains. The oslid bushes also have deep roots similar to those of the denrmos elders with the exception of long horizontal roots to accumulate as much rain water as possible… Now the actual innovative thing about these bushes is how they get food.

There comes a certain stage where the oslids matured enough to develop their own flowers, the orann flowers. These special flowers often have bright vibrant colours which easily sets them apart from the surroundings. The Orann flowers also seem to emit a faint luminance at night. The orann flowers are the second feeding mechanism for the Oslids where, when they are pollinated and turned into fruit , they are specifically grown with enticing colours and aromas to attract animals, mainly herbivores, to the bush. When the herbivore eats from it, the natural toxicity of the fruit is powerful enough to neutralize it and kill it during its eating. Then the corpse decays giving fresh organic matter to the soil and rejuvenating the oslids.

The Maim shrubs are the most abundant and safest species spread across the mountains. They usually grow in dense patches of vegetation and are typical short with the outliers being very rare. They are considered the main source of food for the ecosystem of the Echnend Mountains due to their fast growth and almost all-year presence excluding the winter months.

== Animals ==

There are a few animals specific to the Echnend Stone mountains and they are: rilin, umav, toden, worar, garzgha and the draler. The rilin and draler are Herbivores. The umav and garzgha are omnivores while the Toden and Worar are the only but also very abundant scavenger. The rilin have two side eyes, walk on all fours and are equipped with thick coats upon thick coats of fur that is also enforced with more layers of fat underneath. This feature proves itself quite effect in maintaining body temperature even during horrible storms. The rilin’s fur is usually white in order to camouflages with the environment and avoid predators.

The rilin rely on the maim shrubs for their daily feeding. They are endowed with strong jaws and teeth in order to gather all the nutrients they can including the roots and the not-so-thick woody stems. Rilins have no defensive mechanisms except for their possession of strong horns that can be used to ram into potential predators. The horns are typically pointy sharp and also widely spread to provide decent control. The rilins usually resort to migration in packs within colder seasons due to the inability of hiding in shelters because of predators. The rilins reproduce without a specific mating season but rather whenever they see the situation as suitable for more offspring.

The draler is an insect-like organism that typically has 6 or 8 legs although some individuals have more. The draler is about the size of a zu’aan’s hand or larger. The draler has a tough and rigid outer shell that withstands pebbles , rocks and even avalanches. Its body is usually black and when it hides in its shell it can look and feel like a rock especially with the rough texture of its shell. The fraler has complex eyes with many lenses in order to see clearly. It has mandibles that extend forward in order to facilitate its feeding. It is worth noting that it has a higher poison resistance than other creatures allowing it to eat limited amounts of the oslid’s fruit.

The fraler usually lay a large number of eggs during mating seasons and the young are typical raised in hords together underground or in a convenient cave The draler undergoes hibernation during winter months. The Umav is a brilliant yet horrifying carnivore. It is a bipedal creature that looms over most zu’aan. Its fur is a sharp grey and white . Its talons are extremely sharp and so are its teeth and fangs. Its feet are strong hooves that are also swift and silent. Its skull and face are humanoid looking which led some to believe it is some sort of kin’toni . However, that is yet to be confirmed The umav displays a considerable amount of intelligence where it has been proven that the Umav can starve itself even in the presence of a small number of prey, in order to stalk them hoping to reach a larger crowd.

The umav usually devours all of its victims' corpses leaving only the hard parts. The Umav has also shown its ability to pick its fights and retreat when it is overpowered or outnumbered. The garzgha is a dangerous yet delicate predator. It is a large crawling scaly creature that crawls on all fours and it is very sensitive to changes in temperature. The garzgha has a strong jaw and a lasso-like tongue thay allows it to capture faraway prey and then eat it swiftly. The garzgha usually remains inert and inactive during warmer times of the year and resumes its activity during the colder one. It typically feeds on hibernating dralers. The garzgha also comes in conflict with the umav regularly considering that they both show some territorial behaviour to other predators like themselves.

The garzgha usually inhabits the higher regions of the mountains favouring its atmosphere. The worar is rather a small feathery creature with two wings and a singular peculiar eye in the front of its face. Its peak is tough and typically sloped downwards. The worars generally have black peaks and feathers although some of them can be brown. The worar has a singular big eye in the front of its face and that eye is covered with a transparent yet compact dome. The dome protects the eye from minute particles and also hydrates the eye allowing the worar to not blink for an impressive amount of time. The worar typically nests in the denrmos trees utilising their sturdy branches to the max. Worars have sharp piercing talons in order to efficiently cut a dead body into smaller sizable chunks.

The worar is a scavenger which feeds primarily on victims of the oslid bushes and their flowers and fruits resulting in a codependent relationship where both can help the other exist. The toden is quite an uncommon creature where it mixes between being a scavenger and a parasite. Todens are particularly small and no more than a finger long. They crawl around on their stomachs and are mostly overlooked by other organisms. Todens either gather in groups around any corpse or bone which they find and proceed to squeeze all the nutrients that they can get out of it. Todens might also attach themselves to other animals , typically herbivores , then proceed to hijack their blood circulation for nutrients. They remain attached with their funnel like mouth and sharp teeth and cause discomfort and pain to the host.

Toden hosts do not survive on the long term as long as they are drained of blood. Todens may lay their eggs inside the hosts veins and arteries where their eggs are durable enough to withstand the pressure and also the wet environment is usually beneficial for a toden's growth.

== Geography ==

Situated between towering cliffs near the western part of Taerel, the Crag has a lot more to offer than just a pleasant grassland. It has lush, deep caves which house some rare gemstones like Vim and Elin. The Vim gemstones are known for their radiant glow and are often used by the Theuthdra higher ups in their ceremonial jewellery. Elin, on the other hand, is a deep blue stone, and is a bit more commonly found than Vim.

While not as exotic and popular as Vim, Elin is often associated with good health as it seems to capture light for a certain time period. The cave network of the Crag is so complex that it seemed that some other civilization had built it long before the Theuthdra settled. Some were just a handful of steps deep, while some branched almost endlessly. In the years that the Theuthdra were living there, they hadn't even explored half of the entirety of the caves.

In addition to the caves and terraces, the Crag is crisscrossed by narrow paths that have been worn smooth by centuries of use. These paths connect the various parts of the Crag, allowing the Theuthdra to navigate their complex home with ease. Along these paths, you’ll find numerous small clearings which serve as a resting place during travelling.

Two of the many caves has a water spring each which seemed to emerge due to the underground water rising up to the surface. You could see their very bottom of the spring, such was the clarity of the water. The larger one is available for public use, and the smaller one, covered with shimmering rocks is only used for special occasions. reverence. The Theuthdra are highly mindful of their resources, treating the springs with great reverence. They clean the surroundings and the springs regularly, ensuring the water remains as clean as the nature has provided them.

The climate of the Crag is quite temperate, with the usual mild summers and chill winters. However, due to the cliffs and the location of area, it is also prone to thunderstorms. The caves do provide decent shelter during moderate storms, but have also collapsed during severe storms. With those harsh storms come the beautiful rainbows and pleasant scent of the soil for the tribe to enjoy after. The people of Theuthdra tribe are known to enjoy rain and often conduct parties and celebrations when first rain of the season comes down.

Along with the caves and the lush grasslands and trees, there lies Karkit's Point, which is the highest point situated at the western edge of the Crag. Many people of the tribe have tried to climb Karkit's Point, but have lost their lives due to the incredibly steep structure and unstable footing. For the past 450 years, they are trying to create a path to reach to the top, although it is only halfway done. Near its base, there is a mysterious narrow tunnel which leads to a cavern where everything, even the slightest of noises can be heard echoing. Nobody knows if it's a natural cause or something else, as it was something far outside the capabilities of the Theuthdra tribe.

== Plants ==

The temperate yet unpredictable nature of the Crag's climate has given rise to several peculiar plant species that give the Crag its own signature look. Some parts of the grasslands have been cleared by the Theuthdra to grow their own crops like Menea and Cragberry. Menea is a hardy grain with golden stalks, highly resistant to the temperate weather fluctuations, while Cragberry is a small, tart fruit preserved for food storage during the winter. One of the most iconic and recognizable plants of the Crag is the Moonvine, a rigid bioluminescent species that emits a silvery glow at night.

This plant is found only near the cliff edges or the peaks of the plateaus. Although difficult to obtain due to its location, the Moonvine is used by the Theuthdra tribe to decorate their homes and mark significant locations, so that the late night travellers won't get lost in the dark and fall prey to other dangerous species. During the rainy season, Kin'thar Moss begins growing near the rivers and ponds. This moss has the unique ability to absorb and store large amounts of water, which the Theuthdra tribe uses to cool their homes and animal sheds during the summer. It is also used to create moisture-rich poultices for healing wounds and burns.

In the more sylvan regions, the dangerous Antra plant lurks. This insectivorous species has a large, gaping mouth that traps and digests insects, growing in isolated areas of the Crag's forest. The Antra reproduces only twice a year, making it a rare and somewhat feared species. The Theuthdra regard it with a mix of reverence and caution, as it plays a vital role in controlling the insect population but poses a threat to careless travelers. The Crag is also home to the infamous Quill Tree, known for producing the highly nutritious Quill Fruit. This fruit, while incredibly beneficial and rich in nutrients, comes with a dangerous peel that is toxic to many species.

The Theuthdra have perfected the art of safely peeling the Quill Fruit, revealing its sweet and nourishing flesh inside. Before the Kin'toni plague, the Quill Fruit was a staple of not the only the tribe's diet, but also of nearly every region; but now its cultivation has become more cautious due to potential danger of Kin'toni. In addition to Quill, the Crag is abundant with other fruit-bearing species, such as the Kintora Tree, which produces sweet, melon-like fruits with a pale green rind. The Thunra Tree grows dark blue, bitter fruits used in medicinal brews, while the Nok'thra Bush bears crimson berries with a spicy, invigorating flavour.

The Druthna Plant yields spiny fruits with a rich, creamy interior that is a delicacy among the Theuthdra. Among the most interesting plants of the Crag is the Shra'thara Flower, known for its intoxicating nectar. Drinking the nectar of the Shra'thara causes light-headedness and euphoria, and it is often used during the tribe’s festivals and celebrations. The Lun'thara Blossom is its opposite, with a bitter taste that quickly kills any light-headedness and makes the consumer hyper aware for a short time. There is also Velrak, a thin, wispy plant with translucent leaves that grows along the edges of the cliffs.

Its roots are known for their tenacity, anchoring it to the rock face even in harsh winds. The Theuthdra harvest Velrak for its tough fibers, which are woven into ropes and fabrics that are highly valued for their strength and durability.

== Animals ==

The diverse and erratic landscape of the Crag houses many peculiar animals, with each species contributing it's own value to the area it resides in. One of the most remarkable creatures is the Thal'kora, a bird with long wings and vibrant feathers. These birds are known for their ability to sense sudden changes in the weather, as they try to find shelter whenever the weather is about to get bad. They build their nests on high cliffs, to safeguard its eggs from other creatures. Their feathers are used by several tribes in their jewelry to assert their position in their groups.

In the relatively rocky areas, a Drunnok is quite easy to spot; a relatively big beast with a rocky exterior which unlike it's appearance is quite docile. They are usually found in pairs rather than groups or solo. When a Drunnok is born, it doesn't have any hard flesh. When nearly 3 years pass, the skin of the Drunnok starts to harden giving them their distinctive look. This beast is also quite friendly, and the Theuthdra tribe often tame them and Ghotoh, an agile herbivore species, to carry their stuff to other places.

The caves of the Crag are also the home to the Kalthir, a dark carnivorous creature that has excellent night vision and stealth. Kalthirs are at the very top of the food chain in the Crag, surpassing even the Theuthdra despite their numbers. It's vitality and strength is a nature's miracle; as it can manage to fend off 5 full size Kin'toni and still be unfazed. The Theuthdra tribe often goes into the caves in large numbers and with sharp weapons to fight it off.

The Crag doesn't have a lot of aquatic diversity, as it is home to only two species of fishes, Glyr and Krookero. Krookero, a maroon coloured fish, has a lifespan of only a month, and during that time it lays thousands of eggs near the bottom of the ponds and rivers. However, the fish is so small that it cannot even defend itself from the weakest of predators. Glyr, the other aquatic species residing in the Crag, feeds mostly on the Krookero and aquatic plants. It is a dark green coloured fish with some sharp and streamlined features which help it to hunt the Krookero and escape other predators.

Zanka is a small, agile mammal that resides in the grasslands of the Crag. They usually live in burrows and feed on the grains that grow in the region. Gelam is another herbivorous species that live in the grasslands. It was, and still is widely hunted due to the taste of its flesh, and over the years it was hunted, this species has developed excellent evasive skills and camouflage. Otora, Dasseq and Popo are also some of the lesser known creatures that roam these expansive fields.

In the shallow valleys of the Crag, Torvaks can be found roaming in packs. It is a large and fluffy species which is tamed across the Taerel for its soft fur and milk. The fur of the Torvaks is used to create clothes and their milk has a peculiar sweet taste and medicinal properties. However, they are also prone to a variety of diseases, so they must be taken well care of. The Theuthdra tribe, which resides in the Crag have an unusual affection for these gentle beasts, and every tribe member is given a Torvak to take care of.
