The Hathdani are adapted to the hot, humid, and of limited resources, Qatar Isle. They are tall, slender and lean of build. This allows them to quickly over hot, uneven terrain and have efficient heat dissipation. The downside of this build that they are less resistant to impact damage and crushing. Their skin is shaded in shades of lush green and deep browns to blend with their landscapes. The skin is adapted to be extra leathery and resistant to abrasion from salt and sand. The downside of this is an lower regenerative speed in the outermost dermal layer, leading to surface wounds being slower to close.
The skin has extensive subcutaneous capillary networks and using changed sweat glands, the ability to sweat an excreted, mineral-rich fluid that allows for rapid evaporative cooling through a thin layer. This fluid's production makes the clan need more blood to replenish the minerals and fluid lost. The body has only very fine, very little body hair, and the hair on their heads is dark and tightly coiled. The hair aids in evaporation and scalp cooling. Eyes are sandy yellow in color, small, with thick dark eyelids and three-layered nictitating membranes to protect against dust, sand, and glare.
The eyes can secrete a saline fluid to keep the clear membrane clean of salt spray and dust. The ears are long, pointed and act like radiators to wick away heat. Their teeth are needle like, elongated and adapted for quick, clean punctures for blood taking. These teeth struggle with tearing and chewing tough or sinewy flesh. The nose is small, and able to be sealed rightly to prevent the inhalation of fine sand and salt spray. The downside of this is being able to smell much if the nose-holes are closed.
The nose has internal air passages adapted as a cyclone filter to clear away the sand and dust particles from the air they breathe by trapping it in thick mucus. The sand and dust filled mucus is spat up. This system can be overwhelmed, leading to severe, debilitating sinus infections. The claws are wide, spade-like and blunt, adapted for digging in sand, not for climbing or fighting. The hands and feet have muscles adapted for fast, powerful digging.
These muscles came into being as digging shelters into the earth and sand, helps survive the harsh UV light.
With the muscles being adapted for digging, they get cramps and spasms if they keep an tight, prolonged grip on a weapon or tool. Feet have thick, multi-layered pads that are highly heat resisant, and this allows them to scorching hot sand and rock. The downside of this is an much lowered sensory perception of ground vibrations. The blood vessels near the skin are adapted with extra muscular sphincters to quickly move blood to the surface for cooling as needed. This can lead to quick hypothermia or frostbite in colder environments.
They are able to break down and filter out high concentrations of salt and ingested mineral impurities from their blood meals. This system can be overwhelmed if it encounters heavy toxins or biological poisons that are not native to their environment.
