The Gisera are adapted to the dark, cold, windy Wytal Boreal Forest. They are broad, compact and low slung of build. They are adapted to have the maxim volume for internal organ protection and insulation against the harsh cold. The downside of this is that they have less in the way of speed and agility in wide open space chases. Their skin is tough, thick, and white in color. They have an double-layered coat of thick, shaggy, white fur on their entire bodies. This fur gives superb insulation and camouflage in snowy conditions.

In hot conditions, the fur often leads to overheating. The eyes are large and amber colored, with an thick, clear membrane that limits light entry during bright, moon-lit nights. The ears are small, with heavy fur, and positioned low on the head. This is to lower surface area exposed to wind and cold as to avoid frostbite. The noses has adaptions to find prey, even under snow or permafrost. This is done by an enhanced, internal sensory gland that detects minute geosmin concentrations. The teeth are heavily reinforced with an iron deposit in the enamel.

The teeth are wedge shaped for biting though frozen flesh and the dense bone of carcasses. The teeth are less able to make clean, quick punctures in live prey. Claws are short, thick and highly durable, for chipping though ice and frozen earth to find hibernating prey. The claws are dulled rapidly by this, making them bad for climbing or as weapons for combat. The feet and limb bones are adapted to be lighter and flexible at the joints, so they can have quiet movement across shifting snow and uneven forest floors.

The downside of this that their bones are fragile against hard blunt force impacts. Their feet are densely furred, wide and with an spring-like joint mechanism that distributes weight and dampens noise. These two factors lead to almost completely silent movement over crusty snow. The blood vessels are able to rapidly constrict, allowing them to make an insulating barrier beneath the skin surface. This lowers heat loss in under zero temps, but makes them easily able to overheat in water environments.

Feet have specialized pads for detecting low-frequency vibrations passing through frozen ground. This means they can track the movements of heavy animals. Downside of this is that the vibrations of large loud percussive sounds can overwhelm it. In the liver, there are are glands that produce a few types of specialized, complex lipids that act as high-efficiency fuel storage. The lipids are stored in large sacs in the torso, and allow them function for long periods between large winter feeds. To produce this lipids, they have to eat the fat and marrow with every blood meal.

For communication, Gisera use high-pitched, piercing whistles that carry long distances though the air. They are able to slow their breathing and heart rate to near-dormancy in order to conserve heat and vanish in the snow, but it leaves them slow to react if they are found. They are also able to go into an deeper torpor state to save on food, by fattening up and then hibernating. The heart rate and breathing slows even deeper then in their hiding state. If they are found in this state, they are helpless.
