The Falyir are adapted to the high-altitude, rocky and windy Tului Plateau. They are stocky, dense, and barrel-chested of build. They have an build to have maximum organ protection and internal thermal mass. This is to be able resist the cold and powerful high-altitude winds. Due to this, they are poor swimmers and slow runners. Their skin is extremely thick and leathery, and is deep slate-grey in color. It is adapted to protect from abrasive rock. The hair is patches of dark, coarse fur, on the shoulders, back and the crown on the head.
It is an adaption to protect from head loss and to some degree, frostbite. It means they are prone to overheating in warmer environments. The eyes are deep set, small and with an heavy orbital ridge. They are dark grey in color. The eyes are adapted to be protected from the wind, but with an reduction in exposed surface area that limits their peripheral vision. The ears are small and close to the skull, as to lower risk of frostbite from high winds. The downside of this is that they have an lesser ability to localize subtle, low-volume sounds.
The nose has complex, elongated nasial passages that act as an natural heat exchange to warm the cold and thin inhaled air before it reaches the lungs. Teeth are adapted as thick, blocky molars, as they are adapted to crushing hard exoskeletons. The canines are short and fine, adapted for draining the blood from small lifeforms. Claws are short, robust, and spade-shaped. These claws are adapted for quickly digging shallow dens into frozen or rocky ground. The claws are dull enough to be bad close combat weapons.
Legs are short and powerful, with feet that are wide and sturdy. These feet off superb purchase and stability on uneven, rocky, and inclined surfaces. On flat ground, they are slow and awkward. On their feet, they have specialized sensory pads for detecting detect low-frequency seismic vibrations. This means that they can sense distant movement. The circulatory system has evolved so it can move blood from extremities to the core in freezing conditions, protecting major organs. The downside of this is being prone to frostbite in fingers, toes and other extremities.
The blood has oxygen-binding proteins to use the limited oxygen available in the thin high-altitude air. Their bones are very dense and heavy, to act as ballast against strong winds. These bones also allow them to have much better structural integrity against falls on rocky terrain. The downside of this is that their bones are too heavy for them to swim or climb things more fragile than rocks. They have an unusual adaption that rate to generate internal heat to resist the continuous cold. This means they have to hunt and consume blood more frequently than most other kin'toni clans.
This leads to an biological imperative to come down to the lower lands to hunt large prey. They can store store energy primarily as glycogen in dense muscle tissue rather than fat. This allows them to have quick, anaerobic power bursts in low-oxygen environments. The downside of this is that it is depleted rapidly, and they soon tire.
