Biology

The Bynysi are adapted to the hot, dry and open Zinewigar Scrubland. They are tall, very lean and sinewy of build, with an maximized surface area for heat dissipation. Their limbs are long, as to aid in rapid, enduring pursuit across open, uneven terrain. The downside of this is that their bodies are not as strong, given the lack of muscle and not as tough, as they lack fat for padding. Their bones are only as strong as needed to survive fast movement. Their roughly, leathery skin is in shades of brown and tan, to hide in their environment.

The skin is coated in thin, dark brown keratin plates, thicker on the lower legs, knees and lower arms. This is to protect from the sharp bushes and abrasive sand. The skin's vascular network is highly responsive, able to quickly dilate blood vessels near the surface to aid with radiation and cooling the body. The skin has modified pain receptors that downplay low-level heat and surface burns. This mean that sun-heated brush or over hot rocks for longer periods do not cause pain.

The hair is short, sparse and white, adapted to reflect away heat. Their small eyes are amber, with an dense layer of chromatophores to protect from the harsh light of sunset and sunrise hours. The ears are very long and wide, with an pointed tip. The ears have large amounts of blood vessels to shed heat. Their noses are broad with large, exposed nostrils, adapted for maximized airflow for evaporative cooling. The noses lack the deep nasal passages needed for filtering fine sand. Their teeth are small and needle like, and are hollow to maximize blood drunk.

The downside of this is that the teeth are fragile, and if broken, the kin'toni's bite is hindered until the teeth can grow back. Their claws are long and sharp, and are translucent beige in color. These claws are used to dig into the dry, packed earth. This is done for shelter or catching burrowing small prey. Their feet and legs have organs sensitive to low-frequency ground vibrations. This allows them to detect the movements of small prey or larger threats moving beneath the sand. The kidneys are adapted to recycle metabolic waste as to lower fluid loss.

Due to this, feces are hard and pellet-like and urine is dark brown in color. The capillary channels in their teeth and the hemoglobin recycling glands are adapted to be very efficient, at stripping all available moisture from consumed blood. This aids survival in the arid conditions. Their healing is heavily focused on repairing dermal tissue damaged by thorny plants and muscle micro-tears. This means they recover quickly from environmental wear and tear. Their muscles are mostly slow twitch, alongside hormonal production that favors sustained energy release over rapid bursts.

This allows them to have exceptional stamina for long-distance running and tracking. Due to this, they struggle with rapid busts of strength or speed. The blood water volume is lower, and with dense amounts of red blood cells. This is an adaption to save on water.
